Imagine this, Denzel is your dad, Morgan Freeman your godfather,Samuel.L.Jackson your uncle,Sidney Poitire basically your grandad,Spike Lee your dad's best friend that casually offers you amazing roles,Chrisopher Nolan your friend and director, dude is so destined for greatness its scary
I’ve never seen Samuel L. Jackson smile and laugh this much in an interview. It was like the loud embarrassing uncle talking to his nephew that grew up to make him proud. Lol adorable
John's a cool dude. I went to Morehouse with em back in the day and I didn't even know his pops was Denzel until someone told me. Chill guy. Humble. Both these cats represent us well. HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This dude lied about his father on set when he was asked what his father did. He said he is in jail or a construction worker so that he won't get the job just because he is Denzel's son. He was raised right. Man must have real faith in his talent to go to such lengths...
Everyone knew him though. His dad is friends with many people in the industry and they all seen his son growing up. He barely has any experience but has been getting all these big roles because of who is daddy is.
@@emileigh6524 Yeah. Right. Studios LOVE to hire actors with no talent to star in their VERY expensive, prestige movies just because their dads are famous. They WANT to lose boatloads of money and waste everybody's money, skill and time. You figured it out! Also, experience doesn't equal talent.
@@caliman99 Connections give you opportunities. You are talking like nepotism in the entertainment industry isn't a thing. Him being talented is a plus.
@@emileigh6524 Of course nepotism exists. It MIGHT get you an audition. But a production of this caliber, in a lead role? Very unlikely. They aren't gonna hire somebody unless he brings the goods. Too much money and prestige on the line. The audience won't care WHOSE son he is, if he stinks up the screen. Judging from the trailers, I bet he brings it.
Yes, I totally agree. I didn't even realize that he was Denzel's son until some time after I watched the movie. However, I do remember thinking that he kinda sounds like Denzel.
It might be difficult to be on the same level as Sam Jackson, but this kid was great in Tenet, Blackkklansman, & Ballers. So there’s a possibility he could live up to expectations. He’s a great actor, happy he’s finally getting the recognition he deserves.
Denzel and Pauletta raised such a humbly respectful son, BEAUTIFUL INTERVIEW...He didn’t know where his Unc was going to take him...I can understand his apprehension...LOVE SAMUEL L.,!!!
Chelsea Canales doesn't he??! He resembles his father slightly but his voice : pitch, cadence, timbre .....its scary. The first time i saw him was in Black Klansman and i had no idea of the family relation or even his last name until the end credits but the whole way through the film I'm thinking " he sounds just like Denzel...wtf" similar mannerisms too. Hes a talent in his own right too. And a former professional athlete. Seems like a good person too. Obviously raised right
Three takeaways: Pretty sure this is the best interview I've ever seen, Uncle Sam Jackson is the best "Uncle Sam", and the world needs more Washington's.
I loved this interview so much. I love their family dynamic, it's like just watching their weekly phone/video call catch up. Sam is the perfect embarrassingly funny uncle and John David is the always on edge nephew just waiting for what's gonna come out of his mouth.
this is one of the best interviews i've seen for a while. the banter & energy they have towards each other makes it entertaining. It doesn't even feel like an interview until he mentions TENET. If that makes sense lol
Cause it wasn’t an actor or a tv host interviewing another actor. It was literally family talking to each other and that’s what made John so nervous lol. Your uncle has seen you running around in pampers to you being a grown man you don’t think he got some stories on him
Him and Michael B. Jordan are going to usher in a new era in cinema of the 2020s where black millienials are casted as the lead in movies and that becomes normalized.
Thinking of Mahershala Ali and hoping Blade is the start of more lead roles for him. He’s proven his great talent in supporting roles but I’d like to see him in more lead roles because his talent is that great. He’s one of my favorites to watch right now up there with JDW and Jordan.
He was a guest interview with Trevor Noah and asked why it took so long to be invited. Trevor said how can I invite you when this is your home? You can come on every week if you want and run down the news. SLJ sounded keen 😊😁
John David Washington is the embodiment of "life is not fair" because this dude was just born to be legend especially when his father is literally a living legend, he just had no choice but to follow suit and become a legend
This was Awesome. MUCH RESPECT. Shows the value of respecting your elders. So cool to watch this interaction. Old fashioned manners and principles. Whats needed now a days.

If being down for dinner is a chore, then I've never missed a chore. I was the best at doing chores at my house. Even did my brothers chores when he was late to dinner.
This is exactly how I envisioned JD being interviewed by Samuel going. Imagine those family get togethers with the Jacksons, Washingtons, Lees, and Bassett/Vances.
When Samuel L. Jackson said that he, John David, and Denzel have one thing in common, I genuinely thought that he was gonna say "we're all great black actors" 😅
Sam is funny and witty as always, John is very humble and actually seems very down to earth for somebody who was raised among stars. Fun fact, I liked the guy's work before I even realized he's Denzel's son, which says a lot.
Thank you for sharing this. It’s really humbling and down to earth being able to watch them have a conversation that makes you feel like you part of the family. Such wonderful people.
Can you imagine growing up with Sam as your Uncle, growing up with a father like Denzel who obviously raised his children to respect adults, say yes sir, and to listen. Denzel and Sam are old school, like my dad. He was born in the the early 1930's. All his older brothers served in WW2, He served in Korea and Vietnam. I learned respect for elders and others through him. He hated racism, would not tolerate officers under his command to be so. He retired with 2 stars. If I had been interviewed by one of my uncles, who did more than I ever could do, under their period of war, they could call you out for every BS moment, like Sam could do to his nephew. You should check out his visits to Graham Norton show.

Sam is Denzel's best friend i believe, so it's no surprise that he smiles and laugh throughout the interview because he's talking to Denzel's son
Are they related?
We can laugh at him saying it, but I know I'm not the only guy who'd want Samuel L Jackson as an uncle.
You could call him "Uncle Sam" and he could wear Red white and blue suspenders haha
