your damn right it is. i think they fell off big time. this used to be some serious counter culture shit. idk what happened to them but this is their best work
The lyrics and delivery is still some of the absolute best hardcore of all time. I know bands need to “grow” but this was such a diamond of a sound. His lyrics are crushing and the music is perfect. Makes me neck tingle still all these years later. Perfect hardcore.
Fuckin A right!! Lol ceremony is amazing this album is beyond ideal / the definition of great hardcore music BUT it’s one of those albums where you can’t really talk about with other crews because anyone who’s anyone into hardcore thinks this album is overrated lol I don’t care what anyone thinks I’ll put it out anyway

I enjoy just making a playlist of Violence Violence, Still nothing moves you and Ruined and just let them run through and repeat. Great band. And sure the old stuff is great but the newer stuff is good shit.
I saw them and Naysayer at the downtown Seattle YMCA when this album came out. It was a floor show in an area they used as a classroom usually and i broke my tailbone getting shoved up against a whiteboard by a skinhead opening up the pit. Didnt even notice the pain until the show was done and i was still in pain. Totally worth it to have seen them at their prime. And right after that they stopped soing shows there, they were worried a out tbe space getting destroyed and people getting hurt.
@@ryanbrereton Making fun of the fact that Ceremony used to be a band that sounded like this but jumped on the Joy Division bandwagon and now they make songs akin to old iPod commercials.
I will never forget seeing these guys dodging fists while flailing my own fists. it was an extinct venue called the church off lorain ave in Cleveland ohio. straight edge venue but I was hammered as hell.
when writing a review for this record, i wrote as follows:"one of the best and most violent records i ever even thought could be made. the atmosphere is so dark, bleak, and dismal, you need a chainsaw to cut through it. reminds me of a man at his breaking point in a dimly lit basement with a gun between his teeth."yeah, thats about right

Ing The bass. Player of. Ceremony! Wait holy shit their bass players a dude! Lol one of those things you had to be there it was funnier in person
damn i respect when bands grow up and try new shit but fucking hell this is the ceremony at their best.
very true!
your damn right it is. i think they fell off big time. this used to be some serious counter culture shit. idk what happened to them but this is their best work
I like the bit with the loud drums and shouting
Best part
I know right?
Yeah that part's cool but I prefer the ones with the guitars 😈😼
Gets me every time
That's why we're here

Why do bands need to grow? That's bullshit. Absofuckinlutley nothing wrong with being a hardcore band. Growth can be pretentious fuckin shit
This album is nearly a decade old now.
Memories.
And still amazing.
On no! Now I feel old, oh wait I am old. Was at their first show
We got old
Still good
Getting closer to 20 years... Still great.
20 tracks in 20 minutes. Now that's punk af
I have purchased this wonderful digipack!! I don't want to open it! - this is brilliant.
I saw them at United Blood Fest in 2008 and I'm still here in 2020.
Yeah but are they?
I was there too! First and only time in Richmond, VA good times
@@lonelyteenage7144 that lineup was insane back then. Remember the pile up at the end of Have Heart?
Is this band still active?
I just came back to here because I miss the old music from Ceremony since they just became a whole different thing
+Nero 1945 they play that shoegazer stuff now no? or is it another "Ceremony" band i'm thinking of?
+Marin Le Maignan check out their latest vids, it's like listening to Joy Division mix with The Clash
well it's definitely not shoegaze, but it's different. it just sounds like future islands.
They just released a new song and it's unrecognizable.

UA-cam comments are cancer. Every time.
It is getting.
best of ceremony ever done
siege started being active in 1983... nobody sounded like that... they completely pioneered power violence. infest wasn't active until 86
Just saw these guys a few weeks ago opening up for American nightmare. Awesome live show
13:20- to the end of the album flows so well and hits so hard
Ceremony slays. This was the first hardcore record I ever listened to. LOVE every chance I get to see them live.
Yo your from my town, sick see you at a secret cutter show soon hopefully 2019!!
You may like doubt it! And life sentence both bands are from Chicago
This isn't the typical style of hardcore I listen to, but it is really good. That bass sounds so nice.
Then what style do you listen to? This is the ultimate hardcore style

Old Ceremony is the only Ceremony. One of the best of all time.
Seeing them on October 6th in SLC. UT. It’ll be my first time in Utah and seeing Ceremony… stoked!
Have a great time but don't expect anything like this
Thanks, Mitski!
I'll take old Ceremony for $500, Alex.
Crossbow Tim cry baby
They have a very similar sound to Extortion. I like it!

I love that this is their best album but on UA-cam they don’t even have it up as an album with all their other ones.
At least of the time writing this
Blink 182 sent me here. LOL My favourite part about this album is the Nicki Minaj cover 2/3rds of the way in. Mixes it up a bit.

Walking Home is probably my favorite one from this album.
WHEN ARE THEY COMING TO DENVER?!
I live in The Springs and I hope someday. I remember seeing them back in 2008 at their prime when I was 15, the most bad ass show ever
