I was officially diagnosed in the last month, I'd suspected for many years... There were (I think) over 20 questions, and the first 5 were in a special box, I answered the most extreme options for all those, and on #6 I asked for clarification as to what was meant as I didn't know what they were looking for, and I didn't want to give an incorrect response.
I also explained I have a mind without an off switch other than low blood sugar and general anesthesia, and also mentioned I have paradoxical wakefulness and generally weird drug responses. I was told that was sufficient.
This was the starting of an asd assessment, which I needed to do again due to employment reasons for accommodations as when I'd originally been diagnosed (unexpectedly) in 2002 via my church family services, I made a mistake of not getting a copy of the records, and they disposed of them after 7 years.
And as you might expect, I spent 2 sessions in the process of interviewing where I had an audhd style conversation on my part, so, there's that!

Recently I have been trying to get an autism diagnosis and so far, after all the things I have described to my psychologist, she says she “doesn’t think I have autism because most autistic people wouldn’t be able to have a conversation with her.” This is exactly the problem with getting a diagnosis especially as a female. If I dont show all the stereotypical traits I don’t have it. I am definitely going to push back/challenge what my psychologist is saying. Hopefully I will eventually get a diagnosis though 😭❤️

Both my son's, and my, Autism present as you would normally see in females (he is a professional at masking in public) thankfully we found a Dr who specializes in diagnosing the "difficult" people, by following the DSM5, the way it was, apparentlymeantto be followed. Hopefully you find your dr who looks at the actual requirements and doesn't just look for the stereotypes.

I think the decision anxiety comes when the decision could effect other people and not just ourselves because of our rejection sensitivity

so did anyone else have a tendency to think of something funny during every class and struggle so intensely to hold back laughter that other students (and eventually the teachers) start looking at you and wondering what the hell was going on with you? or was it just me?

"driven by a motor" is the one question that absolutely pisses me off. I've heard it's supposed to mean that you have so much energy that you keep doing things for a long period of time where other people might get tired and stop sooner. But like.... WHY have a question in a mental health exam that is so obnoxiously vague and confusing and can be interpreted in multiple ways??? Those questions really need to be clearer and more concise rather than vague metaphors many people won't understand. I got stuck on that question for like over 30 minutes just because I couldn't figure out what it meant because there were too many possible interpretations in my head and even my mom, when I explained my other interpretations, doubted her first interpretation of it.

I self diagnose as autistic and my physiologist has mentioned the possibility of being adhd as well as asd before because of me finding it very difficult to initiate tasks that are low dopamine task but when I do learn and listen to people experiences I don’t relate to them as much as when I listen to asd experiences.

ADHD is the most common co-condition to ASD. More than 50% of ASDers are also ADHD. The mixture can be quite contradictory &/or characteristics of one can dominate or mask characteristics of the other. I'm self DX both but it took me much longer to pin down ADHD as also me & initially I didn't think I was at all. For me impulsiveness was the biggest clue. Please keep an open mind about it esp as it's already been mentioned to you by someone else. Good luck on your journey.

    • @9crutnacker985
      @9crutnacker985 2 роки тому +2

@Rose quartz Why not? What harm would come of it? Is it worse than assuming your a broken NT? - which is the default position for so many of us adults often for decades. Self DX is fine, isn't it, if that DX is 'nornal'. It's the default assumption for most people done with zero research or professional input. If you're not in therapy or can't afford therapy or have no access to therapy - what then? The psychologist who made my brother's ADHD DX 'official' said to him that the vast majority of people he DX's already know they are. I've seen a long posts from a clinical psychologist stating in the 10 yrs he's been in practice as an autistic DX that they've had 0 (zero) instances of clients who have got their own self DX wrong but many instances of being unDxed or misdiagnosis by professionals. Self DX is a valuable & valid thing, it's not done lightly.

Chloe, that was really interesting. The one thing we do have in common is that if I don't want to do something it takes a long time to do it. Just like when I was a child I had to do pages and pages of mathematics and it felt like torture to do it. Of course I also had and still have problems with severe anemia which cause extreme fatigue and that doesn't help. I was diagnosed with learning disabilities in Elementary School, by a Child Psychologist. And I do have to write things down if they're too detailed. I'm pretty good at remembering most of what people say, but on videos I find myself writing things down. For this video I didn't write anything down. And for appointments I have to write everything down on the calendar or I'll forget all my Doctor appointments and my Mom's Doctor appointments. Both of us have a lot of Doctor's appointments since we have a number of health problems ! Thank you so much for sharing this ADHD online test. You are totally awesome person 💖💖😊😊👍👍!!!

Hi Chloe, just spent the day watching all your vids. I was diagnosed as an adult with ADHD and being an Aspie. Prior to this scored PTSD for defending and protecting our beautiful country for over 3 decades. Fortunately I was not diagnosed in the 1960-70s. Otherwise I would not serve in the Navy as a submariner or in the Australian Federal Police. Being AspieADHD I have an eidetic memory, I could figuratively see things in a 3d perspective. An added bonus when living in a submarine. One thing we both share is rapid fire speech and of course you don't have my attention in 6.7 seconds its gone. Love your vids mate. keep em rolling mate your awesome

I appreciate how you explain all these questions and thus traits because it truly is not so basic of an experience. It’s maddening how stereotyped adhd and asd are as then you get “suffering from” either one, as you said, when it’s actually “suffering from a world trying to put me in a box and hide me there so others can keep their lives the same and thus mine harder.”

After mass while I was in the car I realized he looked confused because neuro-typical people don’t speak the same language as neuro-divergent people.

At 40 I was diagnosed with ADHD and at 42 the dr that diagnosed both my kids as Autistic pointed me to some resources that showed me that I am VERY likely also Autistic. When I was talking with my parents about it they would say, "I would have never thought you were Autistic. When you were a kid you would..." and then they would describe something I used to do that we now know is a very Autistic trait. Now I just have to save up to get clinically diagnosed for my own peice of mind.

Hi chlo, my question for you today is on self- identifiying or self-diagnosis.
I live in a very dull county that only knows about autism as neurodivergency, and mind that the LOWEST slug of stereotype (non-verbal, banging a head on the wall and screaming), and even if a magical child fits into steretype they tell parents it's probably nothing serious. Even if they do tell the full diagnosis parents are in despare and crying (why god gave me this child).
I found out about adhd whrn i was freshman in hs (I'm senior now), and from a momrnt I found out I broke down crying, because I identified with every single thing. Since then I've been doing a research, even falling into loops of adhd being my hyperfixation, etc.
I cannot self- diagnose (the tragedy), but also here I can't gat a proper diagnosis. As I said before age of 15 I never EVER heard the word adhd. I never heard of tourettes before esc when one of the singers had it. OCD is used as a joke for people who are cleaning a lot. Now, after years of being in a comunity, I know, of course, none of it are true.
Can you tell me your opinion on this and how should I act and what should I do?
