When it got to the early reptile days, it split into following two paths, and the top creature eventually became a mammal and the bottom one became a bird. At the end it was a human and a chicken, then the human KICKED the chicken and it came back as a bucket of KFC. XD

    Years ago I worked in an American themed restaurant in Glasgow (Scotland) as a chef, and one day a waitress (a University graduate) asked me, "What are chicken wings?"
    I said, "Chicken wings? What do you mean?"
    Waitress "I know that they're called chicken wings, but what are they?"
    Me "They're the....chicken's.... wings"
    Waitress "Hahaha Don't be stupid..... chickens don't have wings"
    Me (By this point I'm wondering if I'm being punk'd)
    "Errr....yes.... they do.... They're birds. How do you think they fly?"
    Waitresses "Now I know that you're joking, because I know that chickens don't fly😂"
    Me "Well....they certainly aren't good at flying - their body shape won't allow them to fly well, but they can fly maybe 2 or 3 feet off the ground, and for maybe 8 to 10 feet in distance, so I suppose it's barely flying.... but it is flying..... of sorts. Anyway, that's hardly the point - there are a few birds that can't fly, but they are still birds"
    (I've now realised that I've allowed myself to be dragged down to her level 🙄)
    "Penguins - they don't fly, they have wings.... and they're birds."
    Waitress "Hahahahaha Now I KNOW that you're joking - penguins aren't birds......"
    By this point I really didn't know if I was being set up or was she simply an idiot?
    Me "Look... Penguins are birds..... and chickens have wings...... Not very good wings.... well not good for flying..... in fact I shouldn't have even mentioned flying, but trust me.... Chicken wings are chicken's wings."
    I died a little that day - she was gorgeous, and funny, and really likeable, (and had a boyfriend anyway) but as dim as a 10 watt bulb.

      Exactly. It is possible to happen as much as some lineages can develop some structures and then lose them again at one point. But the reversion is not exactly the same. Maniraptoran backward pubis and ornithischian backward pubis are not exactly the same as you can see.
      Compared to ornithischians, Velociraptor and birds have anatomically more similar backward pubises. Scientists were still yet to discover more about saurischians that time when these groups were named.

      Surprisingly, Bird-hipped (ornithischian) dinosaurs split from the lizard hipped dinosaurs way before before birds ever appeared. Despite what the name suggests, Ornithischians didn’t look like birds and were not directly related to them at all...
      bird-hipped dinosaurs include animals like Triceratops, Stegosaurus and Iguanodon, animals that looked nothing like birds, despite sharing a couple of features with them.
      Unlike Ornithischians, Saurischians (lizard-hipped dinosaurs) were surprisingly bird-like, and from those saurischians one group evolved Ornithischian-like hips and they were the direct ancestors of birds, the Eumaniraptorans, these animals were more closely related to the family of Velociraptor than they were to any other dinosaur family, and they include birds and their ancestors.

    • @adwinjoseph3773

    what makes it so birds ARE dinosaurs and not just descendants OF dinosaurs? at what point can we draw a line and call it a different thing? for example we're descended from fish but aren't fish.

    • @feathered3167
      @feathered3167 6 років тому +12

      You can't arbitrarily draw lines and move things out of the groupings of their ancestors in taxonomy. Most taxonomists use "vertebrates" instead of using "fish" to describe everything with a spinal column because the general public tends not to associate land animals with fish (a decent portion of taxonomists include tetrapods with fish though). The transition between what most people call birds and dinosaurs took a hundred million years for instance, and a lot of dinosaur species (specifically dromaeosaurs like velociraptor) would probably have looked almost indistinguishable from birds to most average people, and some birds still had teeth until a few tens of millions of years ago. In the end it's mostly just semantics, and nothing can outgrow (or out-evolve) it's ancestry.

    • @Rallarberg
      @Rallarberg 6 років тому +2

      There's no such thing as 'a fish'.

    • @AudreyYun
      @AudreyYun 6 років тому

      Cool

    • @LRC92
      @LRC92 6 років тому +3

      The descendant of something is still that thing. Dinosaurs consist of everything in the Dinosauria clade, and all of its descendants will always be part of that clade and be called dinosaurs. ‘Fish’ is not a term used in taxonomy; some fish are more closely related to land vertebrates including humans than they are to other fish. Birds will always be dinosaurs in the same way humans will always be mammals, primates, and hominids.

I admit I had to fumble around a bit trying to remember the details of the answer. This episode is the most complete and comprehensible explanation.
