Jacob lined up against 118 qualifying runners from their respective zones.
The top 3 boys established a lead early on, Jacob, Lennox and Jet all trading tactical moves as we spectators were all left holding our breath to see who would run in the stadium first. Lennox was the first to break and Jacob fell back a little but breaking away from Jet to make it a 2-person race.
What an exciting finish, both Lennox and Jacob have competed against each other for a year now in both Cross-Country and Athletics and this shaped up to be an outstanding finish, both boys crossing the line in a dead heat of 7minutes 32seconds for the 2.1km course, an outstanding 3:35/km pace!!
The GPS tag in the boys race number put Jacob ahead by "a thousandth of a second"! I'm so proud of both Jacob and Lennox and will really enjoy their ongoing push to challenge each-other in the future.
Spectacular the nature, the sportive complexe, the passion and the grit of the young rummers😊😊😊

He's got the genes, his Grandfather was a top NZ marathon runner, most importantly Jacob really enjoys his cross-country which he does fortnightly over the winter months
