Completely agree with you. The lack of creativity to at least attempt to make this more of a Dodge design is an absolute letdown. If Stellantis wanted to expand on the Tonale design, it would have worked better as a replacement to the Fiat 500X instead of a Dodge. With that said though, seeing this Hornet, it almost make me think of Chrysler in the 1990s and 2000s. The Dodge and Plymouth cars all looked the same except for the change in badging. Case in point: Dodge Stratus and the Plymouth Breeze, Dodge and Plymouth Neon, and the Dodge Caravan and the Plymouth Voyager.

Taking the old squarebody Chevy trucks 1973-1988 pickups and 1991 for blazers and suburbans and modernizing them. 3. Doing the reverse of that and taking the new gen Silverado and stylizing them to the square body era. Love the work you do! Please keep it up!!!!!!
One thing that struck me immediately, and this also goes for the Alfa, is the absolutely horrific stance this vehicle has. I'm truly amazed that nobody at Stellantis caught this, but maybe they just don't care. The GLH is slightly better but really not at the industry standard.
This undercuts the Alfa...that's the crappy part... I think random people going into a Dodge dealership looking for a CUV will care less that it's a copy.. weird move by Stellantis..but should be good for Dodge sales.
Well I just read an article today saying that Alfa is mad because Dodge stole their design for the Hornet. As everyone was saying Dodge needed a vehicle in this segment and the budget did not allow for making a different looking design for the Hornet so the took the Alfa exactly the way it is and made it a Dodge. I think this car will be a success for Dodge not so much for Alfa.
we just need something new and absolutely ground breaking from dodge. i gotta say the electric car might be it but i just have no idea. dodge really limited itself by making pure muscle, and im not mad at it, but they lack anything crazy in their other segments, and thats kind of disappointing
It's a crossover, Alfa platform with some of Dodge's work to it to keep it in the design language of their brand. GLH is perfect nameplate to bring back. Which I think is funny because if Dodge doesn't do something to keep cash flow up, they WILL die out (which from the Hemi or nothing crowd, it's getting a ton of heat as to the "end of the brotherhood of muscle") Which if they keep making only big HP Hemis that get subpar milage, those who can afford the EXTREMELY long term monthly payments but not the fuel bill would end up at small compact stuff they hate anyways
Honestly, not a bad package. I think it does have some Dodge DNA in the front when you take a close look at the charger and the Durango. The rear end even matches the Durango and the charger as well. You don’t think missing is the race track tail lights because they are so thin.
This may be part two of what happened with the Dart 2. This looks like a bland Minivan. And the Hudson/AMC Hornet not only has a History but it is the Research platform for the vehicle that Jeep was made popular on. This is on a Rear-Wheel-Drive platform. The best thing that can happen is that this vehicles gets a SRT-like version with a Hellfire Supercharged Six. The Hornet at one time on its last platform was a regular V-8 RWD MOPAR driven car. The Wagon version of it was given a Jeep drivetrain and became the AMC Eagle. It was the Research and Development Platform for the Jeep Wagoneer.
Once this and the Tonale go on sale, Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Alfa, and Fiat combined will have the same amount of models for sale in the US as Toyota. Something quite interesting to think about
If I wanted an Alfa Romeo I’d buy an Alfa Romeo. Just was hoping for a new and real dodge with dodge dna and not a cheap copy and paste with a big marketing job.
Number One: I love chrysler and always have, but now with the new ownership of Dodge, I think I will be turning to a different manufacturer. I am not judging a book by its cover, but a new era is beginning, and has been for a while (electric car take over), and I feel that with the change of times, I now have to change to the company that best suits me and my needs and desires with cars. Number Two: Am I the only person fearing that the viper will be brought back as an all electric super car to compete with the new tesla roadster that might never come out, or with some companies that already have a start in that realm such as rimac...
I have never considered the viper idea. I am not fearing it, however, but praying it happens- that would be really cool if they keep it true to the supercar nature of the Viper.

What if Dodge ditched their crosshair grille for their newer models? Most car manufacturers don't use the same grille design or change the design from generation to generation. For example, Dodge didn't use crosshair grille back in the 1960's and 1970's. Mercedes-Benz changed the grille design for every generation and models, so did BMW and Audi as well. BMW have kidney grilles, but made larger on every generation and models. Lexus never had hour-glass grille until early 2010's.
Both looks ugly to me, maybe because SUV always look like the obese version of their sedans 😅. They should design from scratch for the SUV to suit the porportions something like the ioniq 5 and ioniq 6 which are both very different design but from same company.😆
yes, rush to have right away a player on the segment drove this decision, most likely; is better to get used to "carry over" (as in many other car makers, certainly is that small changes makes difference, but very often design considerations are huge changes in manufacturing, in your proposal there are at least 30 dies to develop and many changes in the assembly line (excluding some other items for vehicle integration and tryouts for legislation accomplishment...etc.), bottom line good looking proposal but financially not feasible.
I quite like this SUV, and might buy one! For me, it'd be between this and a Mazda CX-30. I actually LIKE that it doesn't look like a typical Dodge. I LOVE the Alfa Romeo Tonale, and this seems like a less-expensive way of getting one! So far, no Dodge dealers seem to have it in stock for a test drive, though.
Reason why it's an almost complete copy/pasta is CUVs have little margin to play with in a competitive space. Had to be as conservative as possible and re-skinning the whole car for those minor changes means additional costs for new body stampings and mouldings. Not gonna happen. Noe, if you say that Alfa should have done this design from the beginning, I would agree... but reskinning an existing vehicle for different makes, nope. Unrealistic. Also, major reason why this will work in the USA over the Tonale? 140ish Alfa dealers. 2400+ Dodge dealers. I'm ok with the badge engineering. Dodge (well, ChryCo prior) has lots of experience with prior DSMs (Plymouth Laser/EagleTalon/Mitsu Eclypse, along with Dodge Stealth/Mitsu 3000GT, and lastly Dodge Conquest/Mitsu Starion) in making it actually work for them. They know a thing or two because they've seen a thing or two. ;)
The only thing Italian on that car is the body..... It couldn't be more dodge. Idk about that 1.3l engine. But the GT and GLH parts will be the 2.0l t hurrican engine. That's dodges creation. It's the upgraded version of their first multiair engine the 2.4l NA. The Italian motor was the 1.4lt FIRE engine.which is where the multiair system came from. So????
It's not an American Dodge anymore. Nor is it an Italian Alfa. Stellantis / FCA still offers us a tasteless vision of the automobile. Like a kind of Unilver or Mars incorporated. Offering products without history, without strong roots, sometimes under one badge, sometimes under another depending on the country... The most frustrating thing is that the group could have done something undetectable, like PSA knew how to do for its products. Look, there is no possible relationship between a DS7 Crossback, a Peugeot 3008, or a Citroën C5 aircross. However, it costs a little money... And that FCA does not want to do.... The group wants big profits but low investments. They let their brands die for lack of investments. PSA by joining Stellantis brings a healthy and updated technological base. I'm afraid that the Italian side will take over and only live on this asset without trying to develop it.... Sad for Dodge this story.
2:08. It looks like an Oldsmobile from the Nineties in the same way that Alfas now look mostly like Pontiacs from the Nineties but it, like the other Alfas, somehow looks good since they are Rear-Wheel-Drive. GLH=Goes Like Hell. From the Shelby Charger. It is Rear-Wheel-Drive, it cannot be a Crossover. A Crossover is an expensive word for a Minivan. There is another thing to consider. That they are going to wait until the Second Generation to totally redesign it, they did this with the Chrysler 200. The first version was on the platform of the last Chrysler Sebring.

This car, in my mind, harms the "prestige" of Alpha and resembles 1980s GM selling high trim Chevrolet cars as Cadillac. I'm thrilled to get an Alfa for Dodge price, though! Something about the hood/roofline reminds me of Dart which was actually a nice design considering how drab C Segment generally is with Corolla, Sonata and the rest.
Ugly and not liking it at all! Bring back the Dart and an SRT version at that. I much prefer my 2016 SXT Rallye instead! 1.3 is a joke when compared to my 2.4 turbo. I will never buy an electric car. They are not affordable, take forever to charge, and have no power. Clean energy is a scam and its really not clean at all.

Another UA-cam channel built upon what "i" would do -- of course not what I've actually done. Just a thought. Please don't come at me Bros.
Funny thing...if this design came out as a Dodge only...I think it would be highly raved about.. a smash hit... its a super tight Alfa design too...woulda been hard for Dodge to keep "some" of the shape.. would have needed a full redesign..like fiat 500x and Jeep Renegade.. totally different shapes but are basically the same chassis..drivetrain...

Stellantis is the king of lazy re-badges, and one of the reasons I'll never buy one of their cars (quality issues being another). It's hilarious to me to look inside a $100k+ Maserati and find an outdated Jeep infotainment system.

A nice car?🤣🤣y'all are so dramatic. People gotta understand there are different demographics that Dodge is trying to cater to. Compact SUVs are popular right now. They're a car company after all, their main goal is to ya know, sell fucking cars lmao.
I think it looks better than I had originally thought it would look. The grill needs more identity where it looks rather generic. The taillights look much better imo and look amazing with the Dodge logo in the center. I’d personally would consider the GT trim if I would consider one.
To be fair, the Plymouth Breeze had its own tail lights too lol... At least all 3 versions had that one distinction.
@@chynacash3138 yes, and the Breeze/Cirrus/Stratus were not dumpy looking dung beetles on stilts like all of these crossover CUVs. I miss sedans. So glad my first car is a 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix and not some stupid crossover.
This car's headlights remind me of the 8th of Mitsubishi Galant's headlights. The car that I always asked Marouane to redesign it.
That's the problem when you want to make a twin but with another badge..... EVERYTHING
IS PARTS BIN .... there's nothing unique
and on top of that it starts at $31,000
fugetaboutit
Looks better than I expected it to
I have three suggestions for video ideas,
1. Taking the first gen Nissan Titan (2004-2015) and modernizing it without copying the second gen.
I would like to see him design a modern day land yacht and a brand new Scion xB
Looks weird.
The overhangs are to big.
It looks like it it higher as it should be.
Looks like a car on stilts
I feel dodge should’ve brought back the Neon, imagine this power train on a manual 2 door trim of a car long lost 🤙🏽
I have always been a big Neon fan indeed!
I had a new '98 Neon R/T & it was a great little car
I really like it. Dodge got new // logo & i really like the Hornet badge. I think ppl will be throwing that on Challengers & Chargers.
That’s not a really new logo. The hash marks have been a part of dodges logo for some time now. They just decided to drop “dodge” out of it
The way you typed // out was amazing
The Alfa Romeo looks so much better. The dodge doesn’t even look like a dodge. Not that it’s a bad design
The front end looks ugly. The side and back looks good. They definitely are going to have to redesign the front end.
Am I the only one who thinks the headlights look like some of the new mercs?
Please, could you explain why are you spending your time to speak on how this " minchiata " could improve...when it is an Alfa Romeo Tonale?
Another SUV, meh.
To be honest with yourself we both know it just sucks.. I'm not a Chevy person but the Blazer looks better than this and the Mustang Mach E
we just need something new and absolutely ground breaking from dodge. i gotta say the electric car might be it but i just have no idea. dodge really limited itself by making pure muscle, and im not mad at it, but they lack anything crazy in their other segments, and thats kind of disappointing
Get this instead of the Tonale. This will be the best driving Small Dodge of the last 20 years. GLH is going to be a market buster.
Looks like a honda lol
I honestly like Dodge's design better. My only issue with theirs is the rounded window in the back.
The front end clip is way too busy and the interior is nauseatingly ugly. The black exterior and interior does it no favors either.
9:14 dodge dose have dodge journey (rebadge GAC gs5 ) sold in mexican market
It’s just dodge trying to get crossover/ev to market as fast and cheap as possible, too much money to say no to for them
I’m actually a fan of Alfa anyway. The stelvio and giulia are nice vehicles.
This is like when you copy your friends homework but you change some things so the teacher won’t know you cheated but the teacher still knows.
The left and right side of the grille are completely different.
The Hornet was a muscle car and now dodge just ruined the Hornets good name with a piece of trash
Honestly, not a bad package. I think it does have some Dodge DNA in the front when you take a close look at the charger and the Durango. The rear end even matches the Durango and the charger as well. You don’t think missing is the race track tail lights because they are so thin.
You're missing the racetrack taillights because it's literally an alfa with a different front bumper lol
still not a dodge, imagine changing like two cosmetic things then trying to say this looks like a dodge.
It already looks outdated. Looks like it’s from 2017
The Alfa looks way better.
This is one of those rebadge jobs that we all hate. It's also their entry level offer ie: Civic/Integra
Honda did a much better job at least making them look different. (Not including the interior)
@@baronvonjo1929 yes they did a better reskin but the drive train and interior is 100% Civic
The Alpha Romeo Tonalé is Dodge's Finalé!! 🙁
Once this and the Tonale go on sale, Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Alfa, and Fiat combined will have the same amount of models for sale in the US as Toyota. Something quite interesting to think about
You need all those brands to compete with one.... ONE. wow.... they have way to many brands.
It's like the SUV version of the Dodge Dart...
I like it, but, it’s a Dodge
That can be scary
If I wanted an Alfa Romeo I’d buy an Alfa Romeo. Just was hoping for a new and real dodge with dodge dna and not a cheap copy and paste with a big marketing job.
AWD with all terrain tires and beefed up suspension
Not impressed at this car
But disappointed
@@jacobbwalters8133 if they bring back the viper they’ll just reskin an alfa gulia 4c and call it a day. Everyone seems to be fine with an alfa reskin crossover so why not do it for the viper ?
@@heavenshound6775 well not only has the 4c been out of production for several years now, the 4c was never in the same class or price range as the Viper so that is a poor comparison regardless. A more likely platform mate for the Viper would be the Maserati MC20. If you ask if I would want a MC20 rebadge Viper- heck yes I would! It would be sweet!
I think it looks good but it doesn’t completely look dodge as of right now, although all of the dodge models are soon to have a redesign, they may make them to look more similar to this
It doesn't look like other dodge models is because it's a rebadged Alfa lol not because this is dodges new design philosophy
@@VaunShiz the challenger and charger are done after 2023 so this could become the new design styling they go for.. why you think it even has a re designed dodge logo only using the stripes without the Dodge behind it..
@@VaunShiz doesn’t mean future dodge won’t look like alfas..
I think it looks pretty dodge, the headlights and grill align well with the charger and Durango, I don't know what people expect. Do you want a crossover that looks like a challenger? That would be stupid.
@@jjoehler is there a problem with dodges sharing proportions with alfas? they are historically very good looking vehicles.
I'm waiting to see one bought from auction, a Hellcat motor swapped into it and a body kit which makes it more Dodge.
Yeah, sure, let's see someone wedge a Hellcat motor transversely into a Hornet.
@@rlsedition There's some crazy builders on this platform, never say never.
Looks like a tiny Durango. Don't hate it
How do you think the Hornet GT compares to the Mazda CX-30 Turbo?
I wish they would combine the two small upper grilles and add the crosshair grille
@@automation7295 so? I think it would look a lot less generic if it had that.
@@jacobyo99 Everything is generic nowadays according to everyone on UA-cam. All cars been generic for decades.
I think it's a great looking car as it is.
Idc what anyone says. This car is SEXY! And if it craps out in a year or two after owning, who cars. It's $30k. Trade it in for something else.
This is a Fiat. It's obviously Fiat.
Definitely disappointed in dodge
Geez Dodge
The Hornet its a cheaper Tonale
Both looks ugly to me, maybe because SUV always look like the obese version of their sedans 😅. They should design from scratch for the SUV to suit the porportions something like the ioniq 5 and ioniq 6 which are both very different design but from same company.😆
Hey, nice fiat!
Looks like a cross-over Dart
この車はトナーレよりも安くあってほしい。ステランティスノースアメリカのためにも、新しいデザインを取り入れたダッジに光を。
yes, rush to have right away a player on the segment drove this decision, most likely; is better to get used to "carry over" (as in many other car makers, certainly is that small changes makes difference, but very often design considerations are huge changes in manufacturing, in your proposal there are at least 30 dies to develop and many changes in the assembly line (excluding some other items for vehicle integration and tryouts for legislation accomplishment...etc.), bottom line good looking proposal but financially not feasible.
The dart cross no one wanted
They know a thing or two because they've seen a thing or two. ;)
Why dont they consult you before making cars? This was a MAJOR improvement
So????
I’ll take the OG… the Alfa Romeo Tonale
Dodge took the LAZY way out with this rebadged Alfa…
The Hornet is simply the Redneck Romeo…
The first version was on the platform of the last Chrysler Sebring.
going to focus on the Dodge RAM. thank u for this video. I've heard some. thanks for all ur facts. I hope they r true for people who c this. great price in my opinion. Grand Cherokee wagon. $70,000.00 plus to this u save $40,000.00. I think it's good to say please test drive them. try out everything before u buy it, or lease it, or finance it. Thanks Alfa for being over there and working with Dodge!
This car, in my mind, harms the "prestige" of Alpha and resembles 1980s GM selling high trim Chevrolet cars as Cadillac.
I'm thrilled to get an Alfa for Dodge price, though! Something about the hood/roofline reminds me of Dart which was actually a nice design considering how drab C Segment generally is with Corolla, Sonata and the rest.
the NFT car
Ugly and not liking it at all! Bring back the Dart and an SRT version at that. I much prefer my 2016 SXT Rallye instead! 1.3 is a joke when compared to my 2.4 turbo. I will never buy an electric car. They are not affordable, take forever to charge, and have no power. Clean energy is a scam and its really not clean at all.
I love that color on the base model. Looks like Ceramic Blue which was available on the 2014 Chrysler 300 and then the Chrysler 200.
Mr armchair designer, wondering if any design houses have called you for your "redesign gift" ? How about just saying yea or neh and not gettin' so hyper about what you would do. Amazing .
Dodge buyers happy because theyre buying a downscaled Alfa Romeo
Alfa Romeo buyers Sad because theyre buying a upsclaed dodge
Dodge should Stop this generic look, it’s lame. Doesn’t deserve the Hornet name, should of gave homage to AMC and made a Coupe Muscle Car.. maybe a EV concept with the old school logo 🙌🏼
You say 0 connection. The small tweaks like the headlights and taillights say charger/dart styling. The front end bumperwise gives charger/Durango style. But styling overall is copy paste alfa on the outside
Stellantis is the king of lazy re-badges, and one of the reasons I'll never buy one of their cars (quality issues being another). It's hilarious to me to look inside a $100k+ Maserati and find an outdated Jeep infotainment system.
I have and still love my Dart but she is getting older and quirky (also a sister to the Alfa Romeo of the time as well) and the Hornet looks like a taller Dart with a hatchback. So if/when it’s time to replace my Dart, this is where I’ll be now looking. I was starting to look at Chevy or Hyandai as replacements because as much as I love the Charger and Challengers, I need a decent and affordable daily driver.
Average person is buying this from transportation. This is just another Dart/ 200. Dodge needed an economy car since the Dart and 200 left the line up in 2016.
It truly looks like the soulless, carbon-copy that it is. This should have been a mid-size Fiat or something, but not Dodge. This is a great looking Alfa, and a horrible looking Dodge
It’s a flop of a car, I don’t think this vehicle will make the projected sales
Should it by luck make the sales I don’t think it will have a long production run
I dislike when car makers do these things
Chevy did this with the Chevy SS with the rebadge of the Holden
It’s horrible move from dodge to revive the hornet name with this Alfa Romeo rebadge
