I'm sure that the dam got burst open with a machine in the earlie eigties ,as it was choked up with silt and flooding the ajacent field , we cleaned a lot of the rubbish up from that stretch of the burn to the castle last year , love your videos 👍

The shank or shaft is vertical and flooded. It is common practice to cover the shank with a concrete slab. This is the only 'building' cap I have come across. It was actually vandalised some years back and had to be rebuilt!

Roger Griffith ok many thanks. It does look fairly modern. I’ve always wondered the buildings purpose whenever walking past.
