My honest concern is that the young shall grow, and when we eventually grow to take on any leadership positions, there are loads of challenges to deal with because the political system has been destroyed by these old men and they are not ashamed about it.
Nigerians and political parties talk about vote buying in every elections, however while this exercise by political parties members is sometimes opened and offenders are apprehended, what has never been clear is the percentage or number of votes purchased. It is not a sensible argument for one political party candidate to say he or she lost the election because the opponents bought votes. No one has ever come up to say out the total number of votes casted in the ward or local government such numbers were purchased. Vote buying therefore is a moral issue that does not actually affect the voting because such individual would voted for someone with or without money being given. Any candidate who uses voting buying as an excuse as to why they lost the election must not done a good job convincing the voters. Votes who take money to vote for a candidate must not be a believer of the political party they belong to. Again the rate at which politicians defect from one party to the other not minding the impact such action will have on their supporters be be a reason why votes accept money to vote for someone else. The only way to deal with this problem is to criminalize it for both voters and the political party caught buying votes.
