Thanks for watching!
Great technique: super simple but effective.
That flame moss is gorgeous. Looks good 👍
Thanks for watching Kyle! It is a great technique indeed, I think you should give it a go once you move and have a millions of tanks 😉
Awesome video Shrimp Mania! Very close to 3k! Congrats!
Thanks a ton for subscribing! Yes 3k very soon, excited!
That flame moss look amazing. My fav moss ever.I bought a ball of it,still kinda the same size as i bought it.Been about 3weeks now.The growth so low even though i dose the tank a lot.but instead im a master of growing salvinia now 🤣
That big part on the top of the tube of ugf, does that has to be under water? Cant really see. If so im not able to use it in my new aquarium, they are only 22 cm high (ikea kallax aquariums)
Very cool tanks ! Also i loved the video btw . Good job 😀
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching
Can you just replace a new ugf without culling all shrimps?
Hello, i wonder how you clean those or you just switch them once in a while? Thanks
Normally don't clean them, once they start get messy then it's time to change
hi! do you have a video on how you get RO water? do you use a system connected to your tap?
How do you keep your shrimp tank water so clear? Can share your secret to crytal clear shrimp tank water? Hope it is not the cycled and mature tank condition that you are having crystal clear water. Await your favourable reply. 😅
I don't know, regular water change, good filtration, sponge filter I guess
Awesome video! Are you not concerned about moving around the muck in the tank too much when initially taking the UGF out of the tank?
Nope I have a second sponge filter in that tank
@@ShrimpMania good to know. I have a rock in my tank that I want to move...just not sure if it's risky or not to get muck from the substrate in the water column for a bit
It is risky if you have a thick layer of the soil due to ammonia pockets in the bottom layer. With thin layer like I have there is no risk at all.
Would you recommend ISTA Shrimp Soil - PH 5.5 over ADA Amazonia v1?
If yes, can you recommend where one can buy it in the UK, and how much will it cost? I have a friend who has sea cargo coming from UK, to Pakistan, and I can get some bags of it included in it. If ADA Amazonia v1 does a better job, I can find it locally.
What soil would you say has been the best, and lasted the longest?
hey, I would only recommend ada Amazonia, I had very bad result with Ista ph 5.5 and I very regret I started to use that soil. Ada on another hand is very potent with minerals and lost very long, defiantly get one if you can
Hello! could you tell me in what video you made the led strips? I'm looking and I can't find it. Thanks
Sure, it's this one- ua-cam.com/video/2adjsm0sCrc/v-deo.html
@@ShrimpMania thank you so much
@@LuisJimenez-vd4qz you are welcome buddy
What type of fertilizer should i use for i can get algae dust easier? I was thinking about tropica specialized one
I'm not an expert in fertilizers I don't use them normally
good bacteria and open the light at least 8 hours per day. To much fertilizer is dangerous for shrimp
Ista 5.5ph soil ? is the container clogged?
Yes it's ista 5,5 soil. Nope it's not clogged works just fine all the time
How do i get algae with amazonia v2 ? im using super bacter bee max from benibachi with super bio bee maximum and bacter ae , still no algae. Tried cycling it and cannot get high no3
Maybe v2 has not much fertilizers in it for algae to grow? idk. I also tried to seed it in the beginning by adding water from existing tank and before I took the water I scrape algae from the glass. My algae starts to grow after 10 days of cycle with any soil. I'm making a video on cycling new tank with diy bacterial powder having good result so far tones of algae
@@ShrimpMania 10 days passed , rn its 11th day and i still dont have any algae from amazonia v2 and i have Lights on everyday for 12 hours
It's normal if you didn't seed it from another tank. Do you use bacterial powder?
What are the dimensions of your cube tanks?
its 40cm cube
What soil did you use in the new box?
i think he used the one from ista 5.5 shrimp soil
@@shinucafe I've used ista but the smaller grain and struggled to get the ph low. Shrimp are OK in it. Might have had a bad batch. Mine definitely leached ammonia too
@@gbeeshrimp its normal to leach ammonia dats why he cycles them in a bucket
@@shinucafe Yes I know that, but beyond 3 weeks it leaches for. My 1st set up with ista took 6 weeks
@@gbeeshrimp takes 6-8 weeks
Hello, I like to watch your videos but the problem is that I don't speak English. Can you please open your subtitles in German as well? That would make me happy. Greetings
You can switch auto-translate in video options. It only works in browser but doesn't work in phone app.
Before changing new UGF, You must always remove All Shrimps first.
After you removed the moss I am sure a lot of shrimp died. You made way too much mess.
what can I say it is what it is...
@@ShrimpMania I know this feeling also 😅.. been there 3 times. Removing big stuff creates a lot of problems.. The dust is a shrimp killer.
@@Howitzer09 Only if you have thick soil with a thin layer, it's absolutely fine
@@ShrimpMania Of course, but I mean more things like big plants or decoration. Small lair of soil is not a problem. The biggest risk is tight grown plants. A lot of waste is stuck. When its released by lifting up all that waste is becoming active. Results are not very positive 😅.. I had it 3 times back in the days. Now I keep my tanks very simple.
Dosent disturbing the box and substrate release ammonia?
is there a link where is can buy that undergravel filter ISTA
I just trying to do this method, one question from the Indonesian Shrimp community, do you need to put minerals on the cycling tank? or it can be only RO and bacteria powder?
You can if you want, it wouldn't hurt
@@ShrimpMania how about you? did you use mineral? some people said it need to add mineral so the bacteria is not shock when you want put the ugf into the new tank but he didn't give any reference of that information
@@stevenyap6454 Sometimes I use but honestly I didn't noticed any difference
First
Great video again! Just setting up a tank with this method thanks to your recommendations and links, was just thinking for my RO water I'll be storing it in two 25l containers and remineralizing it before use. Would you recommend putting some active soil (non ammonia releasing kind) in a mesh bag to buffer the pH prior to adding during the water change? Any thoughts welcome thanks 😊 🙏
Hey, thanks for kind words. Yes you can use soil in your water reservoir. I saw some breeders doing it and it helps to lower your water pH
@@ShrimpMania thanks for the response 👍 awesome I will give it a go! Looking forward to your next videos
how long does it take to lower the ph in the tank when you replace the UGF ? Will it shock the shrimps ? or it will be smooth for them ?
I measured pH in a couple of hours it dropped from 6.4 down to 5.9 then in a couple of days it dropped down to 5.6. I think it's the same as you acclimating them to the new parameters
Where do you get the filter boxes or do you make yourself?
Yo can find some info in this video - ua-cam.com/video/tZh9OO4jbMM/v-deo.html links in the description
good video, like idea of swap out filter box.
Thank you! 👍
Awesome as always man 👌
Thanks ✌
If i get another tank and put in like 4-5 ugf boxes at the same time to cycle, would it take much longer compared to 1-2 boxes? Probably need a ton of nitrifying bacteria to get it going.
Never trayed it, shouldn't be much longer I think
@@ShrimpMania thanks! I think i will try glasgarten soil for my next 4 tanks as it lowers ph quite good and doesnt leech too much ammonia. I only have 5 ugf boxes and cycling ada soil creates a huge gap when the time comes to change soil.
Have you used glasgarten soil? If so, what was your experience with it?
@@didnthurt4077 it didn’t work well for me. Not much minerals in it that the reason it doesn’t leach ammonia
Looking forward to see what new kind of shrimp you gonna get my friend.
Thanks for watching my friend! I'm thinking to buy Lapis shrimp OE, I found 10 for sale but the price is quite steep £200
@@ShrimpMania very nice, I like hybrid oe, very hard to find here.
Awesome video, shrimp are looking great! How many hours of light are you running? 🙂👍🦐
Thanks Artic, 12 hours a day
@@ShrimpMania 12 hours, no Algae issue, String or Black?
I have no string algae never had one. I have a little bit of black beard algae in two of my tanks it's just because I introduced it by accident with the plants.
What happens to the soil in the box
Where do you put it ????
I through it away in my garden under small tree😊
Oh means the old gravels are discarded. Some breeders shares to reuse them after a quick wash due to the beneficial bacterias in it.
@@Patricia-pt9wp you can reuse it but it wont buffer the water anymore so your ph will be quite high
@@ShrimpMania You could still use it for plants
