The "body builder" who cut off his own forearm sounds like he was on methamphetimine. The double murder with so many stabs, apparently by a stranger to the couple, also sounds like it could have been done by a meth addict. Another possibility with a body builder could have been rage stoked by steroid use, 'roid rage'. (Why did the guy cut off his arm? Was it caught in the door where he tried to break in?) The tale of killing a reindeer with a knife sounds ridiculous and it surely could have been checked out at the time.

”Collapsed blood stained tent” gave me a deja vu. This case was so interesting, and I’ve never heard of it. I live in Finland so Sweden is our neighbour. And here we had a famous case called Lake Bodom murders which is still unsolved. Four youngsters were at Lake Bodom here in Finland and while they were sleeping in their tent three of the four was killed and the only survivor was injured. They were found at the scene tent collapsed and blood stains on the tent, three of them still inside and the fourth victim collapsed over the tent. One of our most famous murder mysteries here at Finland.
Similar crimes have been committed in Finland. In 1959, two girls were killed when they were sleeping in their tent and in 1960, four teenagers were attacked. One of them survived. These crimes are still unsolved. I used to love camping when I was a kid but not after I heard about those cases!
I live in Stockholm, Sweden and have read a book about Bergvall/Quick. It's realy interesting. He basicly admitted to a lot of murders under therapy (I think it was regression therapy, someone correct me if I'm wrong). He did this because he was given drugs from the medical team. Eventually it was concluded he did not commit a single murder. All though he did sexualy assult a person. In the case of the Stegehui, I firmly belive the bodybuilder did it.
Bergwall was so far gone on prescription drugs at the time he probably would've admitted to the Jack the Ripper murders if he was just promised more drugs to do so.
I agree. He confessed to a lot of things not guilty of. To convict him of something that confessed, yet didn't know the facts is stupidity gone to seed.
I saw that guys picture and nearly busted out laughing. Sounds like the police dropped the ball a bit on the initial investigation. What happened to DNA evidence? Why didn’t they get names and addresses of other people in the campground or camping nearby? Deborah Rogers DNA technology wasn’t available for police (especially not in a remote area like northern Scandinavia) in 1984 (why they didn’t try to extract DNA in the 90’s or early 2000’s I don’t know, maybe the technology was still not advanced enough yet) and the case was officially closed after 25 years as the law was then. Statute of limitation for murder was abolished in Sweden in 2010, in order to not make the murder of prime minister Olof Palme in 1986 fall under it. But this case did fall under it as 25 years had passed in 2009. They probably COULD extract DNA with modern DNA tech today from evidence material still kept , but the case can never legally be reopened. Sadly. A German tourist was apprehended shortly after the killings but released as there was not enough evidence against him. And although eccentric, he was without doubt innocent.

Let me just back up here Are you saying that a dude found a bag full of film and knew it was connected to an unsolved double murder and just threw them away? Wtf 🤦♀️
The bodybuilder Erik is now generally considered to be the culprit. Being om steroids and other drugs in combination with alcohol is an explosive mix to say the least. The poor Stegehuis never had a chance... He probably had a drug induced psychotic break when he lopped his arm off as well. This is a case that messed me up as a kid. I saw the reconstruction with Quick om tv and it was so scary that I promised myself never to sleep in a tent. It really drove home the point how vulnerable you are in that situation. Needless to say, I have never been om a tent vacation...
Thank you- but what a disturbing case, too. The whole time, I'd been wondering if it was seriously considered that more than one person had a hand in this- someone making sure the victims were held down, the fact that two knives were used, etc.; however, if one man acting alone could do this, somebody capable of severing his own arm sure sounds like a good candidate for it.
I'm really enjoying your channel, I'm from the east of Scotland so I'm guessing you aren't too far from me, good to hear a local accent. Keep up the good work.
I, just today, watched a review of this Hunt A Killer and here it is again.... I was put off that it takes months to finish an episode. Thank you for the video!
The swedish police at this time had only one person in mind about the killings that they didn't want to look in any other direction. Bergwall had confessed to this and many other murders wich none of them was true. He lied and said that he had been up in Appojaure (though no car or couldn't drive), had stolen a bike and went up to the campingsite. Well as it turned out a bike HAD been stolen that night so the police thought that Bergwalls story was legit. He said that he entered the tent from the opening but a can of soda stood there wich he must have flipped over if that was the case. The marks on the tent pointed at another direction, that the tent had been sliced up from the side and the position of the people inside seemed to show the same thing. Horrible story. I wonder how many murderers that runs loose because of the police and the people at the psychiatric hospital beliving in his stories.
Two young women Kylen and Crystal were murdered camping in Noab, Utah August 2021. Please do an episode on them to try to help solve it. It’s so heinous and distressing. Thank you 🙏
I like it a lot more when you are speaking in the speed of this video than when you are slower! When you speak slower and have longer pauses between sentences, I can’t seem to have the patience to follow your stories. I am a foreigner but you articulate and pronounce your words well enough so that everyone understands so please keep filming in this speed haha ☺️
They should do real cold cases for the Hunt A Killer, to help solve real crimes - many people have different viewpoints and ideas that could really help detectives. 🔎
So many Police ineptitudes with this case. That bodybuilder was shady AF and why didn't they question the guy who threw away those rolls of the film more extensively?
Thanks. A good one, again. In Finland there is also a few interesting camping murders. Maby it's the midnight sun that drives people insane 🤔 The Kytäjä triple murder (solved), Tulilahti double murder (not solved) and the most famous one The lake Bodom triple murder (Unsolved but I think the only surviver Nils Gustafsson did it, they just couldn't prove it).
Let’s save time. Let’s discuss evidence the police didn’t screw up. Geez. Were they betting against themselves at a bookie’s? As an aside, isn’t it strange when there’s a homicide and a suspect gets caught with blood on them, just how often they just ran over an animal? Now this guy, he skewered Blitzen. Points for creativity. Reindeer are huge. If this guy stabbed one, it’s because the suspect in another murder hit it with his car. As they do.🙄
As someone living in the area described, I am experiencing some troubles understanding the oddly pronounced place names ;-) .., By the way, the "village Gällivare" is actually no at a ll a village, but a larger town.🙂
My heart goes out to police officers and forensic teams who have to see things like this. True, they choose their vocations, but how many ever really expect to see such horrors? How many expect to see people horrifically murdered, tortured, and worst of all, children who are raped, abused, tortured, kidnapped, and murdered? How many turn to alcohol to blot out the pain and the sights and smells? To blot out having had to tell mothers and fathers, husbands and wives, that their loved ones are not coming home? Or that they can't be found? Or that they are found, but will never be the same? How many are so changed that their marriages collapse? If you're a LEO, forensic person, or police dispatcher, please know that I think of you, ache for you, and hold you in the highest possible respect and admiration. I see you, and I care. 💖
Good documentary he's in if y'all are interested in more of Thomas Quick. *The Confessions of Thomas Quick* - This chilling film tells the gripping story of the making of a modern Swedish serial killer - taking us to the very heart of events that terrified a nation. Horrific and intriguing in equal measure, this is real Scandinavian noir, a dark tale of murder and lies. In a high-security psychiatric institute sits Thomas Quick, Sweden's most notorious serial killer. A misfit loner who openly confessed to a range of unspeakable crimes including rape, murder and cannibalisation, Quick's story has shocked and haunted the Swedish nation for over 20 years. However, new evidence including testimony from the man himself has taken this terrifying story in an even more disturbing direction. With full access to Quick and those around him, this real life thriller unravels the truth behind a self-confessed serial killer and uncovers a dark tale of murder and lies. The film examines the shocking revelations that were at the centre of this horrifying case; not only what happened but the major impact it has had on both those directly involved as well as the wider community. Looking at what would drive a man to commit such terrible crimes, the film also asks the question of how a monster such as Thomas Quick could have evolved and what contributed to his creation. Not for the faint of heart, the journey to the ultimate truth behind what happened is a tense, twisted odyssey that has forced a nation to come to terms with series of nightmarish crimes that have haunted their society for decades." -Brian Hill
I'm a big fan of true crime channels in general but I find less well known (to me at least), vintage crime particularly fascinating. I wondered how you go about finding these cases? Even if we just take the last century into account, given the amount of murders worldwide, how do you decide which cases to cover?
Great cops they got over there... Man disappears, returns covered in blood and they don't feel it's worth looking into? Yeah... Top notch detective work.
Criminally listed did this case a year or two ago.. I still think its Yarl or Jarl.. Sp? I mean the way he acted and his supposed injuries plus he looks the image of the sketch done. Shame all evidence was lost/destroyed.. 😞 Also a few police errors certianly stuffed the chance of this case being solved. This wasn't mentioned on this video...
@@@moviemad56 Mysterious WV may be best true crime channel on UA-cam, and heavy casefiles is also superb -so I endorse your endorsement! :-) Orange trenchcoat forever :-)
Thanks again for the interesting true crime case. I agree with other comments. What is it about this case and Sweden? We usually think of Nordic countries are being perfect little countries. The concentration of loonies in this area, along with the incompetent local authorities is all truly mind blowing. Cutting off your own arm? WTF?
Wow! This whole thing was frustrating and painful to listen too. The police really didn’t know who to arrest? Awful police investigation!! May these two victims Rest In Peace.
Damn..Police really dropped the ball here..I mean really?? Didn't follow up on anything, couldn't even decide on a suspect and didn't think about checking the car for fingerprints...smh.. :-(
If you’re going camping, you need a big dog like a German Shepherd to keep vigilant and a gun. You’re crazy if you go without a dog and a gun. Dogs hear what we don’t, and fighting a man with a knife if damned near impossible if he’s got the jump on you. Whomever did this was probably some sort of schizophrenic psycho.

Wtf 🤦♀️
IKR? Sounds like he's guilty of something.
Good lord, the ineptitude. Sad.
Such a great channel and thank you for your hard work.
Imma need an elaboratation on "dude who got mad and chopped off his own arm"
That shit was hilarious in a dark sort of a way
So glad I can camp with my doberman and my 10mm and my AR. I couldn't imagine being so helpless.
Bang, bang through the walls of your tent. Your dog is dead and so are you. Nothing is fool proof against someone who wants to kill you.
One shot, one kill.
Does your Doberman use the 10mm or is he an AR kinda dog?
Your AR won't be very effective inside a tent small enough to backpack.
🦌🦌🦌❤️
MW IN THE HOUSE!!! WOOP WOOP!!! 🤩🤩🤩
Mollie..noyce!!such a good recommendation when one of you gives the thumbs up to what in any other field would be a “rival”
Haven't heard of this case yet. Good video
Thank you 🖤
Thank you so very much for all your uplaods especially in this time of COVID -19. May Lord Budda watch over you and keep you & yours from all harm.
I love sleeping by a crackling fire in the great outdoors, but it's an app on my tablet and I'm safe inside my home with my dog and my Sig Sauer.
I'm really enjoying your channel, I'm from the east of Scotland so I'm guessing you aren't too far from me, good to hear a local accent. Keep up the good work.
Brilliant. I love original cases. Thankyou.
I think you’ll find that the land of the midnight sun is actually Norway. Other than that, great vid and good pronunciations.
Thankyou for the video 👍♥️
Two young women Kylen and Crystal were murdered camping in Noab, Utah August 2021. Please do an episode on them to try to help solve it. It’s so heinous and distressing. Thank you 🙏
So enjoy your videos ! My gosh the Police procedure..
Have you ever heard of a bodybuilder being able to sneak up or outrun a reindeer? Case closed. Swedish police fails again.
Way to go, I see you've been subsidized!! Glad to see your hard work is paying off.
Remote yet crowded
Dear Ms. Dark, the t in filet knife is silent. Although, hearing your pronounciation with the accent, it still sounds wonderfull!
Great videos!!
So many Police ineptitudes with this case. That bodybuilder was shady AF and why didn't they question the guy who threw away those rolls of the film more extensively?
Can we watch you play Hunt a Killer sometime? A short version/commercial type video would be just fine.
Sweden should have called the FBI. Someone who knows how to solve a murder
There are plenty of unsolved cases the FBI has been involved in.
Thanks. A good one, again.
In Finland there is also a few interesting camping murders. Maby it's the midnight sun that drives people insane 🤔
The Kytäjä triple murder (solved),
Tulilahti double murder (not solved) and the most famous one
The lake Bodom triple murder (Unsolved but I think the only surviver Nils Gustafsson did it, they just couldn't prove it).
As they do.🙄
As someone living in the area described, I am experiencing some troubles understanding the oddly pronounced place names ;-) .., By the way, the "village Gällivare" is actually no at a ll a village, but a larger town.🙂
how could someone do this?
Easy. People do much worse than this every day. It's sad. Some people are pure evil.
What was the body builder's name? I missed it.
Gotta be the body builder! 👌💯💯💯
Actually, Norway is the "Land of the Midnight Sun".
*The Confessions of Thomas Quick*
- This chilling film tells the gripping story of the making of a modern Swedish serial killer - taking us to the very heart of events that terrified a nation. Not for the faint of heart, the journey to the ultimate truth behind what happened is a tense, twisted odyssey that has forced a nation to come to terms with series of nightmarish crimes that have haunted their society for decades."

This case seems similar to lake Bodom murder in Finland. Creepy
FYI: reindeer is the word for domesticated caribou.
I'm a big fan of true crime channels in general but I find less well known (to me at least), vintage crime particularly fascinating. I wondered how you go about finding these cases? Even if we just take the last century into account, given the amount of murders worldwide, how do you decide which cases to cover?
Thanks DC.💔🤘
Going to get that "Hunt A Killer" package. That sounds awesome. I love research! Let's solve these!
Great cops they got over there... Man disappears, returns covered in blood and they don't feel it's worth looking into?
Yeah... Top notch detective work.
Scene at 10:00 absolute paradise.
shoddy detective work
when I hear cases like these I ALWAYS think cops are behind this
Criminally listed did this case a year or two ago..
The narration states the car was locked but the driver side door appears to be open in the pictures of the scene.
You have a beautiful voice and i love your accent!
Awwwww 😆😆
Thanks again for the interesting true crime case. I agree with other comments. What is it about this case and Sweden? We usually think of Nordic countries are being perfect little countries. The concentration of loonies in this area, along with the incompetent local authorities is all truly mind blowing. Cutting off your own arm? WTF?
Wow! This whole thing was frustrating and painful to listen too. The police really didn’t know who to arrest? Awful police investigation!! May these two victims Rest In Peace.
Sweetly told of this sick feeling murder😕
Damn..Police really dropped the ball here..I mean really?? Didn't follow up on anything, couldn't even decide on a suspect and didn't think about checking the car for fingerprints...smh.. :-(
WTF? How was the bodybuilder not a suspect? That's insanely stupid.
Sweden isnt the land of the midnight sun, thats Norway
My hell, there are enough weird suspects in this case! That bodybuilder did it!😡
Yup, pretty good argument for not going camping.
We call the fillet knife (filay knife) and filleting (filaying).
Very scary😳 May they Rest In Peace.✝️
If you’re going camping, you need a big dog like a German Shepherd to keep vigilant and a gun. You’re crazy if you go without a dog and a gun. Dogs hear what we don’t, and fighting a man with a knife if damned near impossible if he’s got the jump on you. Whomever did this was probably some sort of schizophrenic psycho.
Carrying guns is illegal in most civilized countries.
