Topic is very missleading. Your explaining how to make a custom resolution in windows. Your topic name indicates how to create a custom resolution within PUBG.
Not sure why this is used? In game image is squished and looks strange. It doesn't scale properly. 1920x1080 is much much sharper. Not sure why you would even want to use this resolution if you have a 1920x1080 monitor? You don't have any wider FOV (you can test for yourself by switching between the two resolutions in the PUBG menu screen and you will see that you don't see any more screen. Unless you are having issues with FPS and need to run a lower resolution to maintain 144FPS then this makes zero sense.
the people you shoot your guns at in fps or shooter games are more wide as it takes the res, which should be 1920x1080 and lowers the first number, creating a smaller picture, than it gets stretched to fit the whole screen. A side effect from this is that everything on the screen is much wider depending on how much the number is altered, in turn, this will make your targets easier to hit, and we all know what to do in fortnite, or pubg, or other shooters. We shoot. If it is easier to hit our targets in these games, which leads to wins, which we want, then that right there is your answer to why this is used. it has nothing to do with how wide or narrow your fov is, it has to do with the actual person you are shooting at being thicker, or wider so they are a bigger, easier target to hit... you didn't honestly think that "it makes zero sense", right? I mean, it is called "stretched res" for a reason, and CS:GO pros are the ones who made it mainstream, if you can call it mainstream at this point. also, as for that performance increase, if you are CPU bottlenecked then it could and probably would lower your overall performance, sure maybe a few more fps, but it may come with WAY MORE up and down jumping in your fps than usual which will create inconsistencies in the frame times which came make 144fps look like a choppy 25fps. that is you don't need a great cpu for 4k, just a great gpu. so yeah, there will be a performance increase, so long as your computer isn't bottlenecked by the cpu.
