Great story. Never had a wallet chain, but if I did, I would catch it on every chair I walked by.

32 years same job. Small family owned septic company. My boss loves me. Never really tried to set a example. Showing up every day. Work with a smile. Customers love me too. I just do my job best I can.

I wear wallet chain, it was called truckers' wallet way before bikers made it theirs. back in the day, truckers and bus drivers state to state had to carry cash around. tickets for buses, fuel for truckers and food. mine is buffalo nickle snaps and U.S.A made.

I had a chain wallet too for years. That chain wallet will save your life. On a group ride another biker gas an we all left. At the next stop for lunch his wallet was missing. When he got gas he left it on the pump and never put it away. Two Rider rode back with him. They found the wallet empty. Yea, one more thing seems to be gone is Chippewa engineer and harness boots. I see young Harley rides with saddles or flip flops with shorts. They need to listen to old bikers more.

I had to make my 1st chain wallet as you didn't see them for sale ANYWHERE...Made one after losing a wallet or 2 as a youngster ...Added a chain dog collar to a longer heavy leather wallet...installed a grommet in corner at the fold ...Wallet had a friction fit all leather tab & slot that held it closed = stayed closed if it fell out of pocket...No snaps or zipper pocket like the ones that were sold in later years...Inspired by my grandfather who worked building railroads...He carried a pocket watch with an old shoelace as a tether....Used to call them "trucker's wallets" in the later 1970's ...I probably still have that wallet that I added dog collar chain to in a box around here somewhere... Most likely still has a few business cards in it from old motorcycle & parts shops closed up decades ago ...

Mark you did what you had to do. I've been wearing a chain-drive wallet since '78. Still do to this day. Prayers to you and yours. Stay in the wind!

Mark, When I switched over from 20 years in bodyshops to another 20 but now writing damage appraisals, it too was a Big change. Bad bosses, I also had my share. Wearing certain garb reflecting the office standard was expected of everybody, but without a tie., so I cooperated. You bite the bullet, get your retirement package (and you well knew you earned it putting up with a lot of guff). How did we get through it all? Just go in each day, do the best you can to earn an honest days wage and pray for the weekend. Problem with that last auto related job was they insisted on 'You work the weekend". That meant a Saturday. I put in for retirement soon as I could to get freedom back. I never had to 'loose the wallet chain', but other restrictions were part of the dues one has to pay. Now retired like you, I can wear an olde shirt with or without a tear, & shoes or sneakers, or boots if I want. I can also Ride any day without worry about getting back home at a certain tyme in fear of not being ready for the dreaded work day. Thanks again for your stories. Keep 'em coming. 😎.

Glad that your abilities and good job performance got noticed and you got the boost. I have had many jobs through the years and lost count of how many people I trained to wind up being my boss. I guess that was because I did not kiss up to anyone. On a couple of jobs I had to wind up saying that the next time I get passed over for a promotion I was going to quit. It worked out in the long run since I had many jobs as manager, once as operations manager. Happy to see that you are doing well. Prayers and Abundant Blessing to you and yours. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏✝🛐❤

Great story, Itchy….. what do you suppose that suit (boss) is up to today?! I would guess if he’s around, he’s miserable. Always a few of those we’ve encountered over the years. You’re living the life today, have a pristine property, beautiful landscape, and a great bike to do what you truly love. God is good!

I have a wallet chain unlike most people carry. Mine is from the PTO pump of a propane tank truck. It's the same size as the final drive chain on a Harley, except this one is made from stainless steel, the man I got it from told me it had to be stainless to avoid any chance of sparks, for obvious reasons. I have worn it for almost 10 years and no rust or stiff links yet.

Poorly educated people? 😮from WV and down South? Really? I graduated with honors from both places. I’m disappointed to learn such an opinion from you! I did admire you dearly! Have a Blessed Day 😊

The guys I worked with were from down south and honestly could not read or write. Poorly educated men. We made $5 an hour. What else do you call it? Nothing to do with your education.

    • @onejulyangel69
      @onejulyangel69 Рік тому +1

@@itchymoche yes, my first job in the south paid 3.35$ an hour. But it paid my bills for education. Lots of people back in the day couldn’t read nor write including people from the North, like Ohio and such. Back in those days you were born with a silver spoon or you worked your ignorant behind off to achieve it! ✌️

What is the purpose of those wallet chains--have been riding Harleys and Triumphs for many, many years and never even thought about having one? (also thought only custodians, who carried many keys, needed them).

    As a union carpenter I
Couldn’t wear one on a job safety issue but , being in the worlds most famous motorcycle club was my biker chain , I was a enforcer in my union organizing keep none union carpenter’s company’s out of our city of Boston and being in the club wasn’t easy, and I wouldn’t kiss anyone ass didn’t care what position they had was held back from
Being the biggest steward in my local and don’t have the biggest pension but have two and wouldn’t change a thing , and in the early days was extremely hard getting into unions, it was my marine
Corp training and being from the toughest nabor hood that got me in but getting the greatest work was because there a well
Known gangster nephew is threatening the people who got me in soon as I got in I faced him down let know I have there backs know , who dose he call a local hood that was the best bank robber in south Boston we call southie and asked him
Do you know this person he’s tells him yes he my partner brother is he a shooter, he tells him he’s a boxer and marine and if he anything like his brother I wouldn’t fuck with him
    Well my brother did 20
Years hard time and knew lots of gangsters we had a shit down and ask permission to give him
A beat down and that was because he was saying shit behind my back we got the permission and find out he’s not his nephew the wind came out of him
Like a big balloon, and i watched the head organizer back for 15 years and got the best jobs and the whole time there was a angel watching everything I was in a local club we had problems with them , and it was me that took care of that problem only problem I had is they wanted me bad and I joined ⚡️⚡️🔨and at that time I’m
Married to a woman who father working for a gangster called whitey yes that dude backed way off ⚡️⚡️🔨wow mark can’t believe you got that out of me 🤫over a biker chain😜

Biker chains here in the UK are well a bit cliche and naff in my opinion. You tend to see older, beer bellied guys wearing them along with their "seen better days" leathers and cuts. It's ok i guess but not for me. Thanks Itchy.
