I can watch your videos day and night, a fun to learn from. This Mungyo paper looks like the very popular Canson or Fabriano 160 gramm pastel papers. 1:37 Are these really Sennelier sticks? The sound of the sticks when touched to the paper give the sound as if they were hard pastels. Do you keep your Senneliers in the fridge? Or, in your studio you have 10 censius only? :D
I think I used Sennelier and Mont Martre oil pastels in this video. I don't keep them fridge. Both soft and hard pastels may be diluted with turpentine or other mediums. I paint with them en plein air when there is 90 F but not in the sun, in the shade. I am used to it.
So now I understand that this best suit for oil pastel. Tried my soft pastel and it turned out bad, pastel doesn't stick well to the paper and it's so hard to layer. Thank you for this video!
Oil pastels stick really well to the paper. It should be soft and thick, more like a cardboard rather than a canvas panel or board. Also, it is good to block in major colors with acrylics and it will save you oil pastels
1:58, wow this is a three year old video as of today 2024.4.24, and in your live streamed video, which is only 8 months old you explained that turpentine is not fun to use with dark papers. And here you applied a nifty technique to soak the medium dark brown paper with turp before painting the area with oil pastels. Very interesting, and challenging to experiment.
No, I use Sennelier and a bit of Holbein. I haven’t tried Mungyo. Have you? You can see more of my works at instagram.com/julia_lesnichy. Still life are done in oil pastels.i mostly paint with oils, but I really love ops
@@julialesnichyartist8549 yes Mungyo Gallery are really nice...make sure it is the gallery line if you try. They are very soft and creamy. Not quite as soft as Sen but amazingly awesome for the price They blend very smoothly and built up well.
@@jackiegarroutte8970 mungyo is still good for beginners. Both Sennelier and Holbein are professional brands. Sennelier is creamier. In both brands colors are very vibrant and don't fade with time

I think the turp makes any mixture less saturated on black or dark paper but helps to apply colors more spontaneously like working wet in wet
I used sandpaper for pastels
Yes, it is possible, but you need fine tooth like may be uart 500
Found you from Facebook...I just started in oil pastels and love them. Have you tried mungyo water soluble ops?
