PLEASE PLEASE look at Vanatta Fields' career. She is so talented, and deserves acknowledgement and acclaim. She is much much more than a backing singer for John Farnham. She has been at the forefront of great music, and working with other great musicians, ALL her career. . from the USA to Australia. She is marvellous.
John has a monitor earpiece, the mic technique, stylized to look flashy, is primarily John mixing himself on stage: Pulling the mic away when he belts, bringing it close when singing in his lower range. He's always been a master of it, and it's essential because his belting is SO LOUD, but I'd love to hear from him when and how it all started.
I love that you noticed how everyone including the conductor was having fun. It’s like everyone on stage was given a license to have fun and be themselves, the end result is probably the most entertaining live performance you could want to see.🎉🎉🎉
Just John doing what he does, The greatest entertainer of all time. Aussies don’t take him for granted. We just know he’s going to give us 💯 percent every single time. Favourite performance? There’s so many, it’s it picking one of your children., you’ll feel bad for leaving the others out 😅
Thanks Andrea. You nailed it with your comment about it being a 'group of friends just having fun'. Going to see Farnsey perform, wasn't going to a concert, it was more like going to a party and you became involved.
This was such an epic performance from all on stage. Firstly Andrea you look amazing, and love the hair down, and you do have long hair like that. This entire concert was incredible and you could react to every song and not be disappointed, this was I think the 3rd encore song after a 2 hour plus concert and the energy level and quality of the vocals was insane. I think this was the best performance of this AC/DC classic of all time, the amount of noise on that stage was incredible and every single person was having an absolute ball. John can rock it with the best of them, he is the greatest and most versatile male vocalist of all time, he can sing in any genre, seemingly endless vocal range, breath technique, mic technique, stage presence, mic stand tricks, everything is perfect and such clarity in his vocals. The band and orchestra together blended perfectly and backing vocals as always on point, crisp, clear and powerful, and Brett Garsed on guitar as always great. I’d love you to do more reaction from John, there’s 50 years of performing to choose from and I’ve never heard an even average performance from him so go for it. His day with “little river band” in the early 80’s he had some great songs, like “we two, blind eyes, just say that you love me, cool change” just to name a few. And solo with his band I loved “see the banners fall, chain reaction, don’t let it end, when all else fails, keep talking” and many more. All the best to you for Christmas and the new year.
Yayyy! I'm so glad you're finally back on the John Farnham. You will never regret reacting to all his LIVE performances. This is just the beginning! He's almost incomparable imho. Just such a legend in so many ways. So jealous of his effortless vocals. He apparently never had a lesson in his life. Yet he had perfect technique- wtf 🥲😭 More please!!!🎉❤❤❤
The background singers have been with John for 30+ years. The black singer, Venetta Fields is American and back in the day sang with Ike & Tina Turner and many other well known artists. She came to Australia in I think the 80’s and teamed up with John. She is very well regarded in the industry.
Yes, she came to Australia while touring with Boz Scaggs as part of his backing vocalists. She met up and toured with Renee Geyer who was doing a concert tour of California before returning to Australia permanently. When she retired, she moved to Bendigo, my sister who lived near Bendigo, told me she bumped into her a number of times while wandering around the shops.
Yes, everyone having fun, so much energy and this was the encore, John acknowledges and appreciates all his band members, Thank you, enjoyed your reaction, and still so many more songs of John's to do.
John with his backing band and vocal paying homage to another great Aussie band, AC/DC or Acca Dacca in Aussie speak, who had a huge worldwide hit with the original song.
Hi Andrea, this great ability and ease that you always have to analyze the essence of any song and singer, demonstrate your incredible innate sensitivity that makes you different from the rest. Thank you for making our musical culture grow and for always making us spend a pleasant time by your side. I hope you are feel better than previous weeks and I wish you the best for this 2025 that is already approaching. John Farnham reaches unimaginable vocal registers. Andrea I hope you can also fly so high! Your friend Pau, from Barcelona, Catalonia. Artist, take care! ;) 🙌☀🧡
This was the last of 3 encores which made it a 3 hour show loved the joy on the faces of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra....I bet the had the time of their lives. Love from OZ
The "be careful on the roads" was because there had been a big storm and the roads were wet and dangerous, especially for people driving home adrenaline pumped from such an astonishing concert. He genuinely cares about his fans, and we love him for it.
Great reaction thankyou. Amazing how John is at the centre of it all, but allowed everyone to have fun. I bet the adrenaline of band and audience was so high that people had trouble getting to sleep that night!😃 Have you reacted to Burn for You by John yet. PS Your voice is lovely😊
Great reaction, loved the breakdown.. if you want a couple of JF songs that showcase his backup singers, check out Angela live with Lisa Edwards and Amazing Grace with Venetta Fields and Lindsay Field. All amazing musicians in their own right 🩷
I think you mean 'Angels' - that might help Andrea find it easier.. (typo's are always sneaking up on us (or auto correct))....Yes, a great suggestion, I also love Angels, but never can decide on my favourite by JF - All of them? lol
Been loving your reactions, but this one was special. You totally nailed the fact that every single person in the stadium is having an absolute blast. It's obvious that you enjoyed it just as much. A million thanks for a great job! It never fails to amaze me how BIG his voice is. We know than an orchestra can get loud, but imagine how loud it was with the band and the orchestra going full volume, and he still holds the mic that far away.
This is John's band, playing with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Victoria, Australia. This is an AC/DC original, watch Bon Scott do this live on the back of a truck, in melbourne.
This song was part of his encore. So after 2 hrs of listenng to amazing music he finishes with HELP and this song. Just mindblowing stuff. I went to all the Melbourne concerts. After this concert my body vibrated for 2 days. The energy you get was undescribable being there.
Fun fact" this is a cover of the ACDC song that made them famous circa 1975. The audience knows this song well, and I am happy that they kept "bag pipes" sound in it.
Thanks Andrea 😊❤❤ How much fun was that? The energy, crowd involvement and effort put in by all in stage is epic. Such a fantastic performance. It has probably been suggested before, but can I suggest John's cover of Stevie Wonder's Love's In Need? From his Chain Reaction concert in 1990. It is absolutely beautiful and I think you will love it. They really made it their own. Glad you enjoyed this one Thanks again 😊❤❤
This performance is my favourite ever version of this song. I also love the original AC/DC version. There is a great UA-cam video of AC/DC on the traybed of a truck driving around the streets of Melbourne Australia.
He slayed this song every time he sang it before he got sick. Check out some of his recent performence, he was a goat 70yo ❤ he could out sing anyone. True talent never gets old.
One of the backing singers is Venetta Fields. She worked with artists including Ike & Tina Turner, Pink Floyd, Humble Pie, Barbra Streisand, Elkie Brooks, Neil Diamond, Steely Dan, Boz Scaggs, Bob Seger and the Rolling Stones.
You have so much more Farnham to learn. Please try John and his backing singers doing Amazing Grace after a 2 hour concert. Keep the tissues close by. Back up singers at their best. Stunning
If you enjoy watching people perform with the mic stand or amazing work with the mic alone, you should check out Live performances from Paul Rodgers and Rodger Daltrey.
Thanks for your reaction. As an Australian, I always thought that John Farham and AC/Dc were two different species - like mixing oil and water. But John can sing anything well. I have a suggestion for another Australia/New Zealand artist for you to listen to; a band call Crowded House and their song "Don't Dream It's Over (Official Music Video)". It's possible you know this song.
If you want to see real crowd connection, try Am I ever going to see your face again by The Angles. Aussie crowds added their own lyrics to a iconic Aussie song. Love your work Miss Andrea. Love from OZ 🦘
John Farnham's original style & music was more "pop" music but he apparently really preferred rock music. His manager Glenn Wheatley was formerly a guitarist with rock band The Masters Apprentices and in 70s/80s Australia, the music industry was such where people, such as AC/DC, likely all knew each other.
Andrea you have see the younger John Farnham have a look at this one of John at age 70 still with the same power in his voice and watch the microphone technique. ua-cam.com/video/fiG0J8twqJ0/v-deo.htmlsi=BvJV1nJ1IrDXqQJw
I am so glad you suggested this video!! Farnsey singing Love To Shine at 70 and nailing every single note!! One of favourite ever videos of him. Thank you!! 🫡👍👏❤
Listened to your songs on UA-cam music. You give me the same cool folk vibes that Joni Mitchell gives me. very good guitar work as well. Keep writing and recording please. I think you have got "IT".
Andrea, I hope you might react to Haley Reinhart, Slash of Gun's and Rose's, and Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge covering "Wild Horses" by the Rolling Stones. This was a TV special celebrating Mohammad Ali's 70th birthday back in 2012.
Yup you nailed it! "Fun" is the perfect word. A group of friends jamming and hanging out together on stage! Speaking of fun, check this out (ignore the length, you can ditch the last few mins it's a separate video). Germany's most successful female artist, possibly their most successful German language artist irrespective of male or female. At the start she says that they have to cut short due to a storm warning but she's doing 1 more song before they shut her down. And then she thanks the crowd for the highlight of her career to then performing in front of 120,000 people in the Berlin Olympic Stadium. How many artists would have this much fun and energy in the torrential rain? And do you ever see her not smiling? Epic! ua-cam.com/video/sY_iWMp-JBE/v-deo.htmlsi=aCyFdaMtR6yDaXPf
John just casually belting out an AC/DC hit. I don't think I ever saw him do rap but to be fair he was probably nudging 50 when rap raised its head, I'm sure if he put his vocals to it he would pull that off as well just like everything else. Almost has enough energy to compete with Angus but I'd probably give Angus the edge in the energizer bunny stakes. I don't know what the mic stands did to John to earn all that ire but hopefully I didn't earn the same ire.

Now you know why most Aussies love John Farnham. He brings joy and shares it with his bandmates and the audience. And he's bloody good. Faaaarnsey!!!
I'm 67 and I still want David's coat. You would be hard pressed to find better back ground vocals than Vanetta, Lisa & Lindsey, simply amazing.
I agree with you about EVERYTHING!!…Especially David’s coat…I’m still trying to find the exact coat at my ripe old age 😂😂

Love it. That guy can sing anything.
As we say in Australia “it’s a long way to the top if you want a sausage roll”
John Farnham and
AC/DC both Australian legends..RIP Bon Scott ❤
I remember saying in my youth, "It's a long way to the shop, if you want a sausage roll" LOL.
@@MaxHay-q9pI sang the same…shop not top.
Shop, you bloody dropkick!
@ thanks..you have made my day

Symphony orchestras are over 100 musicians. Plus John's usual band & singers
Love this performance, your right it’s no fun to listen to. John’s vocals are epic he can sing anything.

And if not, listen to John Farnham singing Led Zeplins Black Dog.
It's even better than the original.😂😂
Better off listening to Bonn Scott and AcDc do it. It's Bonn's signature song!

It's an orchestra not a band

It's a band and an orchestra, all arranged by David herschfelder, johns keyboardist.
My goodness you can talk, why not just enjoy as your not really breaking down any techniques.
