To compare Apple ands Pears is not right.Konya sung parts in the Wagnerian Helden Tenor Fach Corelli ,Di Stefano and Del Monaco agreed on ( they knew each other well, after all Konya was engaged at the Met at the same time Corelli was) they never could have sung. Yes was C & dM Phenomenal Tenors .-……absolutely I love both of them for their immense Power in the Mid and High register and their piercing Hi C ‘s Konya never had this in hís voice. But Konya combined a beautiful natural Voice with a Powerful maskulin voice ,excellent Mezza Voce And Legato. Thats why he was able to sing such a versatile Repertoire . By the way Corelli was always complaining why Konya been paid so highly more than Corelli at the Mer.Bings Response was ,because he can sing almost everything and you are a Star in certain Parts and Operas. I love all 3 of them for their very unique art they gave us…..
@@sandorkonya8005 thanks for the info. I mean no hatred for Konya. I like him as De Grieux. Of course Corelli is well known Verdian and Puccini tenor. At least for Corelli, he knows what to sing and what not to. One good characteristic of true greats whom I know is they know and admit their limitations and never go beyond it.
@@potusumanbibingka That is exactly what Konya dir…hE was offered Tannheuser in no less than the Bayreuth Festival and after 3 Weeks of rehearsals he and Wieland Wagner decided to cancel the Contact and let Konya with great success sing Edgardo besides Sutherland at the Met. Konya fulfilled his contract in Bayreuth singing Lohengrin instead of Tannhauser …Konya knew exactly what and what not to sing…He got offers to sing Sigfried….he always refused ….Konya sang 25 Years ,380+ Lohengrins beside Edgardo,Land of Smile,Cavaradossi,Rodolfo beside Tebaldi…an a lot of other roles….if thjis does not proof a solide tenor voice and it’s technics I DON’t KNOS……ymho ….

@@sandorkonya8005 what's your evidence of claiming he's got paid higher than Corelli?
