correct! Well I was a bit lazy and just 'translated' german terminology ("kleiner D9") into english and that is obviously not accurate! It is a dominant seventh chord, expanded by a minor ninth, German (classical) music theory usually reserves 'actual' 9th chords exclusively for dominant functions. As all other ninths are primarily seen as suspensions, although there is several exceptions and this is kinda inconsistent. Actually these kind of nomenclature-discussions are becoming more and more secondary to me when I'm about improv and that's why I tend to become a little sloppy with terminology lately lol
I hesitate to 'weigh in' on my impressions of this video... ah... somebody stop me! :) Gorgeous - absolutely gorgeous (ah, here I go) - real taste is shown in all 'exercises', in spite of their designation as 'preludes' or 'etudes'. If somebody blindfolded me and just played me the music without narration, I would say, "Whoever this is, it is some of the nicest music I have heard on UA-cam, no exceptions". In composition, every note matters (or should) - and you (sir) are bringing many of the best flavors forward, sounds which many of the greats themselves rarely managed to highlight in such a way. Better stop there (!).
FueganTV you are trolling right? "Minor ninth". He is quite LITERALLY playing a minor ninth, count it. EDIT: I stand corrected and learned something new

In case of doubt, call it a prelude. Superb playing as always sir
Was a bit confused about ‘minor ninth’. And then I realised the chord we call a minor 9th in jazz world does not actually contain a minor ninth.
The chord would usually be called a Dominant 7 flat 9 chord
Or the short hand would be A7(b9), B7(b9) ect
Me too

@@en-blanc-et-noir lol. ich gucke immer alle deine Videos
Das ist süss von dir❤️✌️😌
Bro why u calling a flat nine dominant chord a minor ninth chord. The former is A7(b9), the latter Am9. You play the former.
Because the ninth is minor. This is generalbass terminology.
Its the difference between chord symbols and figured bass
