Baryshnikov's is the best, maybe not the most technique, but the most effortless and playful. He's dancing.
IMHO .. Ganio all the way!! But they all have positives!!
The first two dancers integrate the acrobatic elements better IMO, the last two put too much emphasis on jumps and pirouettes thus breaking the flow. I think the variation fits Baryshnikov better because of his more sinuous upper body... He also has a great pianist and is bang on the music. Who's playing? Ans why isn't he in brown?
+ballet janie Same preference.
+Navarre Brixen Thank you for posting.
I'm happy Other Dances won the costume battle, much nicer costume than Brown Boy :)
But wasn't the WH perf pdd from Other Dances and the female vriation from Dances at a Gathering?
+Navarre Brixen The most important thing the two performances have in common is the male dancer, lol. Btw, do you have the WH 1979 Other Dances pdd in good quality? The one on YT is very poor... There's also another upload a bit better but it's only the variation.
+Navarre Brixen I am always objective. Almost always ;) A straight and stiff upper body won't do for this variation, it calls for sinuous and soft. All begin with a "S" but are different attributes ;)
Please post the Green Girl compilation today...
I also thought Baryshnikov's interpretation was spot on
Thank you for all the items you put on You Tube. I would enjoy it even more without your name big in the picture.
Of the 4, I think Helgi was the best (or, at least, my preferred). He's the most effortless and makes it look like behavior... not dancing. The others are trying too hard.
