These two actors have a very special connection, chemistry. All the patience, angest, anticipation, burning, smoldering feelings. They both truly reflect the forbidden mohres of the Victorian times. No touching, yet they burn with passion. These two are fantastic at their craft. So sad that the series could not be continued with all of the cast. So many more stories to be told. Regency Era not Victorian but yes you are correct about everything else ;) Sorry for nitpicking. I confess when I first watched Sanditon I didn't know the difference and had to look it up.
I have now watched this today more than is normal….😂😂when he tells her he is in love with her, it feel so warm and fuzzy. I just love Colbourne….I think most women would. He has truly shown himself to be a good man despite his lies to himself about loving Charlotte. The heart can never contain itself.

Xander shaking his head no🥺 where did Charlotte get the energy to walk away from the future he wants to share with her. BLH homage to Mr Darcy with that long(I can watch over and over)walk.
If I were her, I would've said Ralph who at that 'make a life with me' line and just hugged him (don't think he'd mind that from CH?!) bc thats such a sweet, genuine line. And at the 'every day not in your company is a day wasted line' I would've audibly said 'aww you like just being WITH. ME.?! Well, likewise, and can our 'life together ' just be a 50 yr picnic in the yard?!" 😊☺❤❤
WITH ME! as in equals! SIGH! So romantic! This is how romance should be done! No Alpha male crap. A decent thoughtful man declaring his love to a woman who he admires, but whom, let's be honest, finds SUPER HOT! haha
He also caught my heart in the archery competition when he ASKED her "would you do me the same honor" in the last round. Asking instead of telling her what to do like Lennox did.
Mmmm …mmmmm deliciously yes……yesssss just say YES. Let the man chase If he loves you……it hasn’t changed. It still works best ladies, even today…..thats if you love him too. Nothing better than a man wanting you a bit more….
Poor Ralph Starling never stood à chance against Alexander Colburon I bet Charolett never kissed Ralph in the same way she kisses Alexander. Charolett and Ralph mariage was an arranged mariage from birth to join the two farms especially financially.
How sad that most women at that time In history had to endure loveless marriages to survive. We have come a long way thanks to those (likeCharlotte and Georgiana ) and to all the other brave women who paved the way for us. Patriarchy is fast dying out. Thank God.
Carolyn, there is not one(1) kiss anywhere from the end of season 2, when they announced their engagement at Alison's wedding through the end of Episode 5. Did they ever kiss? Or, more likely, is he more like a brother or clearly childhood friend?
@@marymesesan7139 Actually, during the Regency period, kissing in public was frowned upon even if you were a married couple (never mind an engaged couple). Back then, an honorable gentleman never kissed a woman unless or until he had asked her to marry him, which is why Alexander kisses Charlotte -- telling her he admires her is tantamount to a proposal.
I am not sure which proposal I would prefer receiving. The second one, which was flowery and confident because he knew she loved him (she was running away cuz she couldn't bear watching him marry another) or this one which was so simple and so full of tortured desire and angst.
Does anyone else see a slowing down when she pulls away from him and thew kiss? or their audio feels played over top or somethings negging at the back of my mind as perfect as the scene is
IMO opinion season 2 was better they should have not stretched it out as once the anticipation has gone it drags, for instance, once we know both mr darcy and lizzy are in love in P&P they soon get engaged think of that dragging on for another season with other characters to fill the void
I totally agree. I’ll go farther...I feel rather “played” knowing the 3rd season was shot at the same time as the 2nd, yet they made us wait for it. It made me angry, b/c my interest & feelings for the characters lagged during that wait time. In fact, I put off watching it because I felt manipulated. I didn’t like the first season because Theo was a rude snob. I stopped watching it b/c I just couldn’t get into him. Then, I caught sight of Ben’s portrayal of Colbourne, & I reinvested my attention. That dynamic drew me in. I’m not a fan of Hollywood anymore because of the political games they play. I don’t want their views, I want their stories. I watch British almost exclusively. I’m just disappointed they played this game.
And the HA at the final episode is roughly 7 minutes. Two whole seasons waiting and watching for 7 minutes pure bliss. Like we don’t deserve more, we are robbed
I also thought the second season was better, but I think a third season was needed to show Colbourne's transformation into the JA hero because 6 episodes would not be enough because every JA soap opera starts with the hero with his inner problems unresolved so in the middle of the history we see his change becoming a renewed man worthy of the heroine I believe this was shown by Colbourne in S3 when we see him more confident, freed from the past, friends with people, assuming his feelings for Charlotte, in addition become a loving father and gift for daughter and niece, the complete opposite of Colbourne from S2.
I agree that S3 had too much filler with too many new characters. I would have much preferred they spent time on the 3 main characters evolving. Charlotte doesn’t evolve at all. Colbourne’s evolution happens mostly between S2 and S3 offscreen and Georgiana’s big quest for her mom fell flat. The least emotional reunion ever. In Austen novels it is not only the hero who makes declarations of love but likewise the heroines see their own mistakes and declare their feelings once the man does. Here all we get are the men declaring with the women seemingly accepting it as their rightful fate rather than fighting for their happiness. I definitely wouldn’t call this Austen-like.
