The new antenna I installed today 3ft Pro Stick with no tuning screw and a spring reads 2 on ch 40 and 1.5 on 1. So the antenna needs to probably have that spring taken out but I'm gonna just see how it does this week. The spring was so stiff it completely defeats the purpose of having it.
9 months later...what I have found is if you place the spring under the quick disconnect you’ll have less torque on the quick disconnect site. If you put the spring on top of the disconnect its that much more weight and pressure on the connection site.
Hi Kovy! Some antenna springs come with the antenna stud mount that is held in place with a bolt. The bolt is not for antenna tuning purposes. We hope that helps! Feel free to contact us with any other questions or concerns. (541) 928-1952
question, i have a cobra 29 lx lcd with that same antenna (i think) but i can usually only here people clearly about 5 miles away give or take a mile or 2, now if i get a bigger, better antenna will it help me much more by receiving further away or not... any tips would be greatly appreciated... also it is well calibrated to that antenna, i'm just not sure what else to do to really get out there.

I noticed from my experience that SWR is higher with a spring than without.

Thanks man!
Is it better to place the quick disconnect above or below the spring?

Antenna springs with bolts on them. They are to help with tuning?

Maybe a little. The strength of their signal is dependent on their equipment, though. They are going to transmit only so far.
