Welcome to Taemints! I saw him live in Japan last March and I died. My soul went to heaven and since then my body has been walking this Earth alone, without direction 💀🧟♀️ Taemin doesn't know I exist but I don't care, he's still my boo, my ultimate darling forever, there's no way out once you're in 🐣😂 Can't wait for his comeback soon, first one since he left SM as a solo artist. My expectations are skyyyy high because the Guilty album was a masterpiece, as is everything else he has ever done, haha. This man does not how to make bad music or concepts 🦄
You need him BIBLICALLY? HAHAHA Because honestly Taemin runs the industry like a cult hahaha. His fandom treats him like a GOD on stage and like baby kitten off stage there is no in between 🤣. I think when you get through the MVs maybe watching his dance practice videos would be the next step because they are amazing.
Taemin is his own genre, he is often referred to as T-pop or Tae-pop, the industry considers him as his own thing. Don't feel bad, we've ALL been seduced by Lee Taemin, you're not alone. If you think the MV's are bad, just wait till you see him live..... people (including many other idols) said that Taemin has this overpowering aura around him that you FEEL when he walks into a room, half the industry is TERRIFIED of him because of it, which is HILARIOUS because the man (off stage) is a walking ball of fluff and adorableness. You see him walk into a room all smiley and sparkly with hearts, flowers and sunshine pretty much falling out of him, and everyone in the room taking 3 steps back (while just keeps on smiling..). there are actual videos where you see that happen...
@@QueenSarabiii I think you're already in... but if you like, the SHINeecord is a wonderful community, it's a discord with thousands of Shawols from all over the world talking everything SHINee, with no outside drama allowed in.
You're not wrong about the eyes thing, Taemin even said that the most important part of the Move choreo is the eyes, and that without it the choreo doesn't work.
@QueenSarabiii Taemin's eyes are hypnotizing, and not just in Move... but then again, he's hypnotizing even blindfolded and tied up.... see live performances of Door from his Nippon Budokan concert in Japan or his MAMA performance of that song....
I need to wait before I get into SuperM cause I don't know if I can handle Kai, Baekhyun, and him all at once... My little heart won't be able to take it lol
Thank you for the reaction! Taemin's gaze is one of his iconic signatures - so much so, his first world tour is called EPHEMERAL GAZE. Hopefully you will get to experience him live soon 🔥
He's having his comeback really soon. The fist trailer is already out and the teaser photos are being released these days. He's never disappointed us, so we just know it's going to be great. Also he is not only together with Kai in SuperM, they are also besties since their trainee days. One of the most solid, wholesome friendships in kpop IMO. They are both such sweethearts when they are not performing :)
When you react or dive into all his MVs and discography, you will realize that Taemin is probably the only solo artist that you can't pigeonhole into something specific... he has done all kinds of experimental genres... that's why critics call Taemin "Taemin-genre" alone. He is considered the blueprint of all male solo artists and the idol of idols most cited by tons of idols as their role models. Taemin usually handles very deep concepts to understand without sitting down to analyze, from Greek philosophy, sexuality and sensuality, drama etc which is very much reflected in his MVs visuals dance and lyrics. I love Taemin- he is a very complex artist. I have been following Taemin's career for a few years and I can say that Sexuality and sensuality is one of his strong sides and you have decided to start there, I hope you will explore his other artworks as well..
I do love Taemin and think he's incredibly versatile and amazing, but also WOODZ could be considered one of the most un-pigeonhole-able artist in kpop.
Fun fact: That's not just any female dancer in Taemin's "Want" MV. The girl you see highlighted in the shadows is Yoo JiMin (Karina) who is the leader and main dancer of aespa. She participated in this song as a rookie trainee even before aespa's debut. ("Want" was released in February 2019 and aespa didn't debut until November 2020.) She also participated in some of his live comeback stage performances and she was in his "Want" dance practice video. "Want" is one of those songs that the lyrics take the song and performance up to the next level. :D The lyrics give everything a whole other feel and it helps to explain the images and story you see being told in the MV. Many people think that "Want" has a vampire vibe, and I can see where some might get the vampire feel from this MV. After all, one of Taemin's nicknames is SHINee's eternal vampire because in some performances and MVs, the way he looks and the aesthetic of the performance gives him a vampire image. However, in "Want" Taemin is supposed to be portraying Lucifer. That's why he seems to have a love affair with those snakes. (The ones he is holding are real snakes.) And, like Lucifer, he is supposed to be seducing the audience and the girl using his devilish powers, which is why the choreography looks like he is slithering like a snake. The gate you see him standing in front of is supposed to be a representation of "The Gates of Hell " from French artist Auguste Rodin. Taemin is Catholic, and most of his MVs showcase his faith as it tells the story using numerous Biblical references.
The style and aesthetic in "Want" is just the kind of vibe we have all come to expect from Taemin. He has a very sensual/sexy way of moving and, as a soloist, it's kind of his signature thing. That is why all his songs are titles such as "Danger," "Soldier" "Sexuality," "Tiger," "Press Your Number," "Guess Who," "Mystery Lover," "Hypnosis," "Crazy 4 U," "Flame of Love," " Under My Skin," "Thirsty," "Want," "Criminal," etc. or "Ace," "Already", "Door, "Pretty Boy," "Move" "Artistic Groove," "Famous," "Idea," etc. Each song is meant to show you exactly why he is one of the best in the industry even just by their titles. I find it interesting that all of his songs, with the titles alone, tell you exactly what Taemin is all about. If you look at all the titles of his songs, you will see that the titles convey one of two things about him, either painting a picture of his sexy and sensual onstage personality, or they explain his dedication and passion as an artist. Taemin is very unique and never does the same thing twice, he is constantly switching up his sound and dance style. However, you will see that it will always be very Taemin-like. Many choreographers who have worked with him over the years have said that, with Taemin you can't help but allow him to move in whatever way his body takes him. Taemin is art in every sense of the word. :D Taemin started when he was a child by copying dancers that he saw on TV such as Michael Jackson and Kpop star Bi Rain. And he didn't have any formal training until he joined SM. As trainees, SM originally planned to make SHINee a hip-hop group, so Taemin's dance training started out focusing on hip-hop dance styles like popping and locking. However, over the years, he has devoted himself to learning every style of dance. Now he is considered one of the top two best dancers. (EXO's Kai -- who happens to be Taemin's best friend since trainee days and is a fellow member of SuperM -- is the other top dancer.) Taemin is literally the artist that everyone within the Kpop industry looks up to and respects. Taemin has released at least one song or album -- most of the time way more than just one -- as part of SHINee, as a member of a project group, as a solo artist or as a member of SuperM every year since SHINee's debut. (Except for the past two years because he was on hiatus while he carried out his public service duties as part of his military requirements.) He is one of the only idols who has debuted in 3 Kpop generations -- second gen. with SHINee, third gen. as a solo artist and 4th gen. in 2019 as a member of SuperM -- and yet he is the same age or younger than most 3rd and even some 4th gen idols.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write all this out! I really appreciate the time and effort - this is already really informative so I double appreciate it❤️
I felt like I was watching myself when I was going thru my own discovery of him last year. I feel you girl... from the very first moment you lay eyes on him, you are HIS. I cannot wait for you to deep dive into more of Taemin's art as well as SHINee and SuperM.
Taemin is my ULT of Ults. Yes, he does look into your soul. All of us have been there. The MOVE dance practice is a favorite of mine. HIs lives are unbelievable. Enjoy the journey!
The look and feel for "Move" is very specific, it's supposed to be androgynous and gender neutral. Early in his career when Taemin was growing up in SHINee he was known for his feminine look. The industry thought it was novel and cute to play up his feminine features. Being recognized for his delicate image, ended up giving him a real complex about the fact that people never saw him as a masculine man. It took him a long time to accept that he was known for his looks and to come to terms with the fact that everyone thought of him as a "pretty boy," etc. So, at this point in his career as a 24-year-old (He is 30 now) he was trying to make a statement about how he has now come to terms with just being himself and not caring what people think. Dancing is art and movement has no gender. "Move" is his title track on his 2nd Korean solo album, which was released in 2017. He debuted as a solo artist in 2014. There are 3 versions of his "Move" MV. Version #1 is the regular MV version, which you watched. Version #2 is his solo performance version that just highlights his dancing. Version #3 is the duo version, which focuses on the choreographer and him dancing together. Fun fact: The blue color you see throughout this MV is supposed to represent the cool, chill vibe of this song, but pearl aqua also is SHINee's fan color, so you will see aqua/blue/green shades with most everything to do with SHINee as a way to represent their connection as a group and their connection to their fans, etc. And just so you know, those background vocals aren't Taemin's. They actually chose to leave the songwriters' vocals in the song from when they recorded the guide track. I have seen interviews with Adien Lewis, one of the original songwriters and he was shocked to hear his voice still in the song. Usually when a Kpop company gets a song from a songwriter, especially a foreign songwriting team, they will translate it into Korean and record all the vocals using the artists' vocals or other Korean artists, etc. Therefore, it's very rare that a songwriter would have their original vocals in a Kpop song, however, this was one of the few times where SM didn't rerecord or change everything. If you're interested, here is a short clip of an interview with Adien Lewis talking about "Move", ua-cam.com/video/hTxbaiWyrmA/v-deo.html. "Move" features all female dancers because the whole point of the song and dance is supposed to be about crossing gender boundaries and how just because you are male doesn't mean your dance has to be hyper masculine. Taemin uses what is traditionally considered more feminine dance moves to show how you can merge both feminine and masculine styles together to create something that can't be singled out as one gender or the other. This dance allowed a more mainstream audience to start to embrace less traditional gender roles within Kpop. "Move" is one of Taemin's most famous choreographies and it has become the dance he is most recognized for. This dance has inspired what is known as the "Move disease," and it is said that the dance is so catchy that you can't help but try to imitate it. There are literally hundreds of videos online of people attempting cover dances to this song. (It is on the level of Beyonce's "Single Ladies" dance and some of the most famous TiK Tok dance challenges.) However, no matter how good of a dancer they are, it is quickly apparent that there is just something about the way Taemin moves that can't be duplicated. Taemin is Taemin and there is no one else like him. The dance is never as sharp or precise as the way Taemin does it. That is why he is hands down considered one of the top two BEST dancers in the industry. Taemin's "Move" choreography is actually considered by professional dancers to be one of the most difficult dances to pull off because of the amount of control you have to have and the intricate movements. They say that if Taemin's dances look easy then that means they are extremely difficult and if they look difficult then they are almost impossible to pull off unless you are Taemin. There's a reason why EVERYONE looks up to him, even world-famous dancers. As Taemin has said numerous times in interviews and on variety shows, the key point in "Move's" choreography is literally supposed to be to stare into the camera like you are trying to seduce the person who is watching. So, you are right, that is exactly what Taemin is doing. The female dancer who is the featured dancer dancing with Taemin in the MV wasn't just any dancer, she is the choreographer who choreographed "Move". Her name is Sugawara Koharu and she is a Japanese choreographer who has choreographed dances for several Kpop groups, as well as American artists. She has worked with Taemin a lot over the years and she is the one that also choreographed Taemin's dance for his songs "Want," "Flame of Love" and "Sayonara Hitori" and helped choreograph Taemin and her performance on the competition program Hit the Stage -- "Devil" performance, etc., and she was one of 3 or 4 choreographers who helped choreograph Taemin's "Criminal." Taemin and Sugawara are really good friends. She was also the choreographer for SHINee's song "Good Evening," among others. She loves working with Taemin because they are a lot alike, and that is one of the reasons why she has been featured in several of Taemin's projects. Plus, Taemin and all the members of SHINee, are also one of the most famous artists in Japan and they all speak fluent Japanese, so they have no problem communicating through dance or language. :D You should now check out a live performance, as well as his dance practice video, so you can really see why this song is so iconic and discover how it literally changed the Kpop industry. Taemin's choreography is very much influenced by him. Although he has input in almost everything he does, he has choreographers that come up with the choreography for most of his dances and he then infuses it with his own ideas and style and makes it uniquely his. The way Taemin dances is just the way he moves. His movements are effortless. If you watch Taemin dance a lot, you will see that no matter who choreographs the dance, it will always be very Taemin-like. Many choreographers who have worked with him over the years have said that, with Taemin you can't help but allow him to move in whatever way his body takes him. Taemin is art in every sense of the word. :D Taemin's style of dance can't be defined. As he has said, he has worked his entire career to create a style of dance that is unlike anything in the Kpop industry. And I would argue that that now extends to the entire industry of dance. Taemin started out as a self-taught popper and locker without any dance training, and, even then, as a trainee it was clear his skills as a dancer went far beyond the average dancer. Over the years he has infused those popping and locking skills into his now more contemporary style of dance. But, when it comes to dancing, he can do it all and there is no one better at it than him. Taemin has had a solo career for almost 10 years and he has been a member of SHINee for more than 16 years. He has at least 12 solo albums and SHINee currently has 14 full length albums, plus dozens of mini albums, singles, repackaged albums, etc. And he is also a member of SuperM, which debuted in 2019. So, you won't run out of Taemin content to watch for a very long time. ;p Taemin has even held several solo concerts, as well as more than 100 concerts as a member of SHINee and a world tour as a member of SuperM.
Loved your reaction and journey to Taemin. I was captivated and captured by Taemin last year to the point I went across country to see him at kcon. I highly recommend these MV by him. Criminal Idea Advice Guilty Those are his 4 most recent songs. And his new comeback is set for August 19th.
@@QueenSarabiii Yes he has the deepest eyes that just captures you , thats the first thing I noticed about him! I predicted it. That hypnotizing part is what we call lovingly the Taemin effect. Yes it’s a thing and I welcome you to the victims club. I warned you. But maybe it’s better you get used to it bcs his comeback is this month and I am not yet fully prepared for the absolute destruction that will ensue. His stares are full on indecent. I think a PD said it once and he said it right: Taemin is erotic and sensual. And I use those terms respectfully. Since you are on the path now I will tell you whatever you are feeling however indecent it might be while walking this slippery slope: I am right with you sister.
And I will warn you once more: at the end of the path and when Taemin literally has you struggling in the palm of his hands there is such a thing called Bubble Messages. 3$ is all it takes to take you straight to Delulu Land. Once again: I am waiting on the other side.
😭😭😭😭 Not you trying to get me to delulu land. But at least I won't be alone lol The stare really was penetrating like sirrrr! Why are you looking into my soul like this?!

I will forever sure. After Guilty I am absolutely enthralled by this man and how he evokes such emotion. I am ready to devour everything he has to offer❤️
For me, TAEMIN is in a different league, there is no one like him, he is on a different level. We are now celebrating 10 years of his solo debut and over 16 years in SHINee. It was also announced, not in vain, that he was becoming MC in RTK, whose subtitle was ACE OF ACE, noting that he was the only candidate for this position. Do we need more?

Before Move, there was choreo for men, and choreo for women. Taemin rejected that. Taemin and his partner are doing the same dance, which was more 'feminine' than typical men's choreo, and more 'masculine' than choreo for women at the time. He showed everyone that it was OK to break the previously strict gender norms of the day. Gender-bending had been done before (see Heechul from Super Junior), but not to this extent, and not by a soloist as big as Taemin.

@Saddlemomma said on 3/28/24 This MV was a SHOCK to Kpop when it was released. With this one song, Taemin crushed the standard cultural S. Korean segregation of the sexes in Kpop -- he dared to have female backup dancers and had a choreo that established the fact that dance was a verb not a gender. This was a game-changer for both S. Korea and the Kpop industry. Every single group and entertainment celebrity had to cover "Move". It became such a trend and almost required cover overnight that it was coined, "the Move disease". Just Taemin and SHINee breaking traditional cultural norms and establishing new trends as usual. It took him a long time to accept that he was known for his looks and to come to terms with the fact that everyone thought of him as a "pretty boy," etc. So, at this point in his career as a 24 year old (He is 28 now) he was trying to make a statement about how he has now come to terms with just being himself and not caring what people think. Dancing is art and movement has no gender. "Move" is his title track on his 2nd Korean solo album which was released in 2017. Fun fact: The blue color you see throughout this MV is supposed to represent the cool, chill vibe of this song, but as you know, pearl aqua also is SHINee's fan color, so you will see aqua/blue/green shades with most everything to do with SHINee as a way to represent their connection as a group and their connection to their fans, etc. (It is on the level of Beyonce's "Single Ladies" dance and some of the most famous TiK Tok dance challenges.) But no matter how good of a dancer they are, it is quickly apparent that there is just something about the way Taemin moves that can't be duplicated. Taemin is Taemin and there is no one else like him. The dance is never as sharp or precise as the way Taemin does it. That is why he is hands down considered one of the top two BEST dancers in the industry. As Taemin has said numerous times in interviews and on variety shows, the key point in "Move's" choreography is literally supposed to be to stare into the camera like you are trying to seduce the person who is watching. So, you are right, that is exactly what Taemin is doing. If you are impressed with Taemin's dancing in the MV, you really need to see his dance practice video and/or a live performance for "Move." You will be even more blown away when you see the uncut version. The female dancer who is dancing with Taemin as the featured dancer in the MV wasn't just any dancer, she is a famous choreographer. She is the one that choreographed "Move". :D And just so you know, those background vocals aren't Taemin's. So it's very rare that a songwriter would have their original vocals in a Kpop song, however, this was one of the few times where SM didn't re-record or change everything. If you're interested, here is a short clip of an interview with Aden Lewis talking about "Move", ua-cam.com/video/hTxbaiWyrmA/v-deo.html.
Fun facts Taemin is a self taught dancer though he sought professional lessons later on. He was taught to sing by onew and jonghyun. He's been playing piano since age 11. Signed with SM same age. Debuted age 14 with shinee and 21 as a solo artist. He's known key an jonghyun the longest and both were known as his group mother He's afraid of insects and bugs. Is catholic. A fan of Michael Jackson. Is a demon on stage but offstage he's still like an innocent boy. Is known to lose or break things Best friends are Kai of exo and Jimin of BTS. Is now friends with suga of BTS. Debut in 3 generations. 2nd, 3rd and 4th when he became apart of superm Like shinee his live performances out do his recorded thing. He has his own fanclub and website. This is just some of the things on him you'll learn as you go down the shinee taemin road
Lee Taemin is that guy. Taemin Jackson if ya nasty lol. But for real Taemin does have MJ elements, most likely because he be poppin and lockin, but Taemin dances like a guy that can't dances but doesn't care. Even though he can dance. That's what he reminds me of.
Not long ago Taemin released his new album preview where you can hear the snippets of the new songs that are going to be released. The video is so cool! From that preview I can tell that the full songs are going to be amazing (it's Taemin so obviously) ua-cam.com/video/ExGUycu290E/v-deo.html
Thank u for ur journey in Taemin’s music He really deserve all of attention (And don’t forget about EXO) Plus I recommend to meet two Gods of k-pop: TVXQ This two🤌🏻 Chef kiss
My Favourite Taemin Live Performance is (Sexuality) Solo Live Concert In Japan ❤, Not Sure if you'll Be Ok If You React To This Lol 😊; Favourite MV Is Criminal (Destroy Me More) ❤❤❤

@QueenSarabiii omg your gonna see fetus Taemin 🤣🤣. He was literally only 14 years old in their debut song Replay(a classic btw), they were all super young 😭
Hi, I am back. Good reaction, ty. Want love this one. Great choreo. The visuals were hot. Taemin really went there, the water, him all wet. Geez. lol. Saw a lot of Move MV inspo in this. Love the fits, love all his hairstyles, the feet work is wild. Excited to watch the rest of ur reactions. I am Taemin biased. Jimin learning all of this scares me though. 0.0 Hugs. -NY USA 2019 Army💟 @nabilanaznin5611 said on 12/1/22 Hi! I love your reactions and interpretations, and this is one of my favorite songs by Taemin so I wanted to share some of my own interpretations. So the song starts with Taemin wearing a red outfit and holding snakes, which I think is a direct biblical reference to when Eve was seduced by a snake to taste the forbidden fruit (later Taemin directly sings about the forbidden apple), and the way Taemin dances is also very snake-like and seductive. So, essentially, Taemin is Lucifer, like you said, he's tempting Eve into committing a sin, tempting her to follow her desires and taste the forbidden fruit (the lyrics "creating the definition of heat, from instinct to reasoning -- referring to when Eve is convinced that she needs to taste the fruit because instinct turns to reasoning and leaves rationality behind) by constantly telling her that she's been asleep in a deep sea, that she's thirsty and once she tastes the fruit, it'll leave her wanting more (It could be a him too but staying true to biblical references here.). The thing you said about Taemin being the perfect being and yet the undertones of him being a demon or the devil is also very prominent in the visuals. Like Lucifer, Taemin's visuals here is stunning and tempting and the power he holds in his fingertips is immense. Very much like in the biblical texts, he is Lucifer tempting Eve to "wake up from the silence under your deep see". (You probably didn't notice but Karina from AESPA is in this video, the solo woman dancing in the shadows). The t or the cross you mentioned is probably not a symbolism for Jesus but for Taemin. T is for Taemin, that is his signature pose and he has done that in a lot of other MVs. Now, here is the mindboggling part -- this MV very much coincides with the SMCU theories. I don't know if you've watched any fan theories about SMCU but I think Kookielit has done one in a very comprehensive manner where they explained the SM Culture Universe story where Taemin is thought to be the ultimate villain or bad guy or king of hell of sorts. He is the original devil or demon trying to seduce everyone, trying to get everyone under his control and he is very powerful. The eclipse in this MV can be connected to EXO's storyline, and Karina being here and playing a symbolic role of Eve can be directly connected to AESPA's storyline where we see Karina being hacked or seduced by the Black Mamba, which is, if we put two and two together -- Taemin, the snake, or Taemin's henchman/woman, the snake being Taemin's persona or spirit. The entire SMCU storyline, not just of Kwangya, but the entire SM universe, is incredible and I really hope you'll check it out someday. It's pretty dope world-building with lots of references and meanings. I'm sorry for the super long comment, but I hope this gets you interested to learn more about SM's way of incorporating art and literature because it truly is very underappreciated. Have a great day! @oliviaacuna3681 said on 9/4/23 And also, a little fun fact (if no one else in the comments have already pointed it out), the female dancer with a kind of of solo in the Want mv is actually predebut Karina from Aespa when she was still a trainee! (she was already really famous predebut for her beauty and for some cameos like this one and another one with Kai). @shadow-jy1kp said on 9/4/23 Loved your reaction! I was totally the same when I discovered him in 2021. His songs often hide a deeper meaning, but Taemin said that he enjoys when fans interpret his work the way they want, so this is more for people that enjoy digging and discovering Taemin's inspiration. Few quick examples: Want is heavily based on Christian Old Testament (many of his songs have Catholic references), and Taemin is basically a snake (the devil) in the MV, the door at the end of the MV are called The Gates of Hell by artist Auguste Rodin. Criminal is about Stockholm Syndrome, where Taemin is both the criminal and the victim, struggling with his identity (also a common motif found in his songs). Idea is about Taemin looking for/chasing and ultimately finding his ideal self, and is inspired by Plato's theory of forms. @milindawilson9175 said on 9/4/23 Fun fact: That's not just any female dancer in Taemin's "Want" MV. The girl you see highlighted in the shadows is Yoo JiMin (Karina) who is the leader and main dancer of aespa. She participated in this song as a rookie trainee even before Aespa's debut. ("Want" was released in February 2019 and aespa didn't debut until November 2020.) She also participated in some of his live comeback stage performances and you can see her in Taemin's dance practice video. Taemin's "Want" is one of those songs that the lyrics take the song and performance up to the next level. :D The lyrics give the song and performance a whole other feel and it helps to explain the images and story you see being told in the MV. If you like his dancing in the MV, you have to see his "Want" dance practice video to really understand how intricate and breathtaking Taemin is with this choreography. No one moves the way Taemin does. Taemin is very unique and never does the same thing twice, he is constantly switching up his sound and dance style. However, you will see that it will always be very Taemin-like. Taemin started when he was a child by copying dancers that he saw on TV, such as Michael Jackson and Kpop star Bi Rain. And he didn't have any formal training until he joined SM. As trainees, SM originally planned to make SHINee a hip-hop group, so Taemin's dance training started out focusing on hip-hop dance styles. However, over the years, he has devoted himself to learning every style of dance. Taemin is literally the artist that everyone within the Kpop industry looks up to and respects.
He's actually called the Michael Jackson of Kpop
Welcome to Taemints! I saw him live in Japan last March and I died. My soul went to heaven and since then my body has been walking this Earth alone, without direction 💀🧟♀️ Taemin doesn't know I exist but I don't care, he's still my boo, my ultimate darling forever, there's no way out once you're in 🐣😂 Can't wait for his comeback soon, first one since he left SM as a solo artist. My expectations are skyyyy high because the Guilty album was a masterpiece, as is everything else he has ever done, haha. This man does not how to make bad music or concepts 🦄
😭😭😭
You need him BIBLICALLY? HAHAHA Because honestly Taemin runs the industry like a cult hahaha. His fandom treats him like a GOD on stage and like baby kitten off stage there is no in between 🤣. I think when you get through the MVs maybe watching his dance practice videos would be the next step because they are amazing.
😂😭😂😂YOU SAID IT NOT ME LOL... I will for sure look at those... when I recover from everything else lol
Taemin is on another level!! Idol of idols for a reason❤🔥I recommend Guilty and Advice both MV and studio choom performance :)
Thank you for the recs!
😭😭😭😭I know I won't be able to handle the lives lol but I am gonna do my best lol.

You're not wrong about the eyes thing, Taemin even said that the most important part of the Move choreo is the eyes, and that without it the choreo doesn't work.
The eyes definitely had/has me in a choke hold. But based on the lyrics that makes sense.
@QueenSarabiii Taemin's eyes are hypnotizing, and not just in Move... but then again, he's hypnotizing even blindfolded and tied up.... see live performances of Door from his Nippon Budokan concert in Japan or his MAMA performance of that song....
.....WHAT DO YOU MEAN BLINDFOLDED AND TIED UP!?!?! I don't think my heart is ready for that just yet lol
@QueenSarabiii not the worst thing he did... but it's a really good performance and a really good song... did I mention it's also shirtless?...
@@Ofra8191- let’s not forget one of the recent CRIMINAL performances where the dancers ripped his shirt off. They ripped my sanity right out too.

Taemin is the blueprint.
He is the ultimate performer
It’s so funny because he is the most adorable, forgetful person outside of the stage!! See him in superm or shinee content haha
I need to wait before I get into SuperM cause I don't know if I can handle Kai, Baekhyun, and him all at once... My little heart won't be able to take it lol

Hopefully! I qm just haooy to experience him in any way i can ☺️
He's having his comeback really soon.
Choreo just looked easy or casual
His dances one of the hardest choreo in industry
Nobody can match his moves and choreos
Period
exactly
I will definitely be diving into him more. His sound is definitely unique and I am here for his vibe I can't wait to hear more❤️
I do love Taemin and think he's incredibly versatile and amazing, but also WOODZ could be considered one of the most un-pigeonhole-able artist in kpop.

Taemin is literally the artist that everyone within the Kpop industry looks up to and respects.

I cannot wait to keep on diving😊😊

You should now check out a live performance, as well as his dance practice video, so you can really see why this song is so iconic and discover how it literally changed the Kpop industry.
Taemin's style of dance can't be defined.

Can't wait to see your other reactions to Taemin and SuperM. Love your voice btw it's so soothing.
Laughing my ass off, girl you in TROUBLE , welcome 😂
I always seem to find all the trouble lol 😭😂
But at least I won't be alone lol

Taemin is something else, huh? I stumbled across him after he released Criminal in 2020 and I haven’t looked back once! I’d recommend Sexuality and Door from the live Budokan concert. I see why Jimin is a fan. I liked the girl backup dancers too. Love that he uses just great dancers overall consistently. His moves are detailed not delicate to me. His voice is captivating. His dance is eye catching. I could watch him all day. Hope u watch the live at the fashion show. Hugs. -NY USA 2019 Army💟
The #1 is because there are 3 versions of Move, the regular MV and 2 performance videos. One is the solo, where he’s dancing with his girls and the other is with his choreographer Koharu Sugawara.

You’re right, the dance moves in the choreo are more stereotypically “feminine” moves. Move is the moment when Taemin fully embraced his androgyny and confidently mixed masculine and feminine dance into his choreo, because as he has said before, he doesn’t see things as “male dance” vs “female dance” but rather all dance moves are a form of expression that should not be tied to one gender or another. He is not afraid to challenge the stereotypes of Kpop dance styles, and for this reason the Move choreo is iconic, with idols of both genders even to this day covering the song and the dance. It was so different from anything that came before and still stands out as one of the most unique choreos for Kpop. This is one of his defining moments in his solo career, I think, because he really began to set himself apart with a distinct artistic vision for his songs and dance style from here on out (Not saying it wasn’t like this before but rather he seemed to become more confident about it from here on IMO).
I also love that he uses both female and male backup dancers and has them do the same choreo. He really does actively support the idea that no dance or dance style is gender-restricted.
Thank you so much for the reaction!

The best thing about Taemin is that he really started a movement in K-pop. His androgynous looks weren't always in his favour and back then he said how he always wanted to be as manly as the others but now he embraces it. He says how dancing isn't about gender and how he wants to show that there shouldn't be any differences between girl idol and male idol's dancing. Most of the time he uses female back-up dancers and it wasn't that common yet that your female back-ups have the same spotlight as the male idol in the center, they usually were just a bonus but in Taemin's performances they're a part of the whole performance and it wouldn't work as well without them. Even during his concerts there are sections where only the female dancers are on the stage and dance without him as a transition. Recently Taemin also talked about wearing make-up a lot this was what he said: "For me, I think there is no absolute standard on masculinity. Nowadays, there are a lot of men who care about skin care and even use makeup to express themselves. I feel like there was a strict gender classification in the past, but the boundaries have become more blurred and our society is more about accepting and respecting each other’s differences these days. If makeup highlights and empowers my unique appeal, why not use it?"
You should check out his song "Pretty Boy" with the lyrics, that was his collab with Kai and he chose him because Taemin wanted his best friend to be part of his solo debut album. Pretty Boy was written by Jonghyun and he said he thought about Taemin while writing it, it touches upon the expectations towards males in south korea and in general and it really fits Taemin well.

"Move" is one of the most imitated choreographies in k-pop and nobody can do it like Taemin. It looks low-key and even simple on the surface, but it's incredibly difficult to control all the muscles in your shoulders, back and arms as smoothly as he does.

This song changed things in K-pop. Not because of the song, but because of the choreography. Gender-bending had been done before (see Heechul from Super Junior), but not to this extent, and not by a soloist as big as Taemin.
please, more Taemin
I love your reactions cause it was the same ones I had when I saw Taemin 🤣 In the MV of Want it was like Taemin was telling me "want to walk the dark side with me baby?" and I was like "lead the way babe" 🫣🫣

This MV was a SHOCK to Kpop when it was released.
Milinda Wilson sain on 6/25/22
The look and feel for "Move" is very specific, it's supposed to be androgynous and gender neutral. Early in his career when Taemin was growing up in SHINee he was known for his feminine look. The industry thought it was novel and cute to dress Taemin up as a girl and play up his feminine features. Which ended up giving him a real complex about the fact that people never saw him as a masculine man.

Hi!

And also, a little fun fact (if no one else in the comments have already pointed it out), the female dancer with a kind of of solo in the Want mv is actually predebut Karina from Aespa when she was still a trainee! (she was already really famous predebut for her beauty and for some cameos like this one and another one with Kai).

Loved your reaction! I was totally the same when I discovered him in 2021. His songs often hide a deeper meaning, but Taemin said that he enjoys when fans interpret his work the way they want, so this is more for people that enjoy digging and discovering Taemin's inspiration. Few quick examples:
Want is heavily based on Christian Old Testament (many of his songs have Catholic references), and Taemin is basically a snake (the devil) in the MV, the door at the end of the MV are called The Gates of Hell by artist Auguste Rodin.
Criminal is about Stockholm Syndrome, where Taemin is both the criminal and the victim, struggling with his identity (also a common motif found in his songs).
Idea is about Taemin looking for/chasing and ultimately finding his ideal self, and is inspired by Plato's theory of forms.

Fun fact: That's not just any female dancer in Taemin's "Want" MV. The girl you see highlighted in the shadows is Yoo JiMin (Karina) who is the leader and main dancer of aespa. She participated in this song as a rookie trainee even before Aespa's debut.
