i imediatly jumped to the initial velocity part and didn't watch the intro, and i was watching this for like 8 minutes before i realized it was a stream. Good video tho it really helped me with my own blender stuff.

Came here to mention the same technique Alexx talks about. I'd love to hear your thoughts on that, Cartesian Caramel. Thanks for sharing such insightful sessions.

i Keep getting stuck in this area i checked if i was doing something wrong but im not sure why. My set material is not showing on the trails when i set it in the right surface in emission, 26:39
i checked if bloom was on, i checked on rendered preview, went to 0 frames before i added the emission. still not able to get the trail to change color or make it glow. I dont know what else i could be doing wrong?

@@gusaba7342 If you put the Set material after the Simulation Output it works, for some reason it doesn't work when placed in the same location he has it when working in Blender 4.0

unlikely that youll read this, but is it possible to make raycasts from objects "spawned" throught the sim nodes? I'm trying to set up a laser beam setting that keeps its position during its duration no matter how the object its parented to moves, and thought spawning points from which the raycast emits would be the solution, but the rays seem to always be cast from the origin?

is it posible to export such animation to Unreal enigne and make it like spell for mage ?

I was thinking the same thing and in some ways you could but I don’t believe you could ever have a dynamic blender to unreal particle system.
You’d need to use Niagara for that.

Great stream! I'm trying to replicate this and am largely successful. However, when I plug in instances on points using a very simple mesh, there is quite a bit of slowdown after the first few seconds. Because instancing is supposed to be so efficient I'm surprised by this. Any ideas on what I may be doing wrong or is this just a limitation of simulation nodes? I made a new blender file and just used a simple emitter with forces(no geometry nodes) and there was no slowdown :/

Really helpful tutorial!! Can someone tell me how to hit the target tangential to the target object within the same geometry nodes setup?

It has been delayed to 3.6 unfortunately. It should be in the main alpha tomorrow.

    Great one !
About the trails generation, I used another method by extruding the points instead of instancing and merging curves. I'll try to compare which one is more performant.
A question though : I've been trying to generate realistic volumetric smoke trails, but so far it is a failure.
Here I'm using a fake with instanced spheres and a transparent shader : ua-cam.com/video/7x6xJNQRs-w/v-deo.html&
    But it's not good enough.
If you have any advice on this, I'm interested ;)
