Gallagher was a great comedian! I was fortunate enough to see him live a few times. Two or three back in the 80s and 90s then one last time out at the Tropicana in Las Vegas in the mid 2000s. Actually got to meet him that time. Really a character!
I saw him at Chrysler Hall in Norfolk Va around 1983-4. Sat in the front row. If I didn’t have my sheet of plastic I would have gotten wet or ended up with watermelon on me. He was so funny, could not stop laughing. He was probably one of the best comics ever.
He and George Carlin - comedic THINKERS that this world truly needed and will sorely miss. No profanity but a lot of good ol' common sense packed with a lot of humor!🤗
Seen him mulitple times live.I was on stage with him twice, I smashed the last watermelon to end the show once as well. Also went into the dressing room with him and chatted with him one on one for over 20 minutes. One of the coolest interesting people you could ever meet. So sad he's gone now. Love to him and his family.
OH goodness...I had NO idea he had passed on. Goodness, this was a VERY funny funny man. As a youth, I memorized many of his sayings just like I had for Richard Pryor, George Carlin and Steve Martin...and over all these years, when situations present I throw a quote of his in and it still always gets a laugh. Damn....will miss the guy. The world needs more laughs like he gave us....
He's underrated as hell. Underneath the silly/dumb jokes he had some really smart stuff. In the words of Patrice O'Neal, "He had Carlin-esque, shit" But I do agree that the goofy structure of his delivery, toys super family-friendly-ness really distracted from his edgier, smart stuff. He's deceptively smart.
"I got in trouble for asking questions... I got my own opinion wrong!" That's the problem with having authoritarians run the schools. "Don't ask questions, just sit there quietly while WE tell YOU what to think!" It's not schooling, it's indoctrination.
We miss comedy from when it was actually funny. So much today, it's like SNL that's been having to use APPLAUSE signs and electrified seating to make the studio audience laugh on cue
Grew up with all this. I remember when "Teachers" said testing wasnt an efficient way to test learning. That was all about "Teachers Union issues" relating to their performance reviews. Had ZERO to do with students.
It doesn't matter why they were saying it, they were saying that testing isn't a good assessment. Yet that is their entire job, to teach and test the knowledge taught. If scores on the tests weren't good enough, you don't pass. This is the exact reason teachers didn't want to be tested, even if only by the union, because they knew they would fail. A test is precisely the tool we use to evaluate almost anything. When the plane was first built, it was tested to see if it worked, before they sold it to the public as a viable way to fly. When a chef creates a brand-new dish, he doesn't just send it out to the people dining in the restaurant. No he would test it, make some adjustments to the flavour until it's perfect. Then he gets other people to try it, to make sure it actually tastes as good as he thinks. Only after friends reviews, does he put it on his menu. When SpaceX designed their rockets, they didn't just send people up in them, before testing. No, they had it explode without people in it. When a pilot learns all the proper things to do while flying, they don't just automatically get put into a commercial plane, without going on test flights with an instructor. Why then, should we let our kids be taught, by people unwilling to take a test? If tests truly are useless, why do kids have to do them? And why are tests so important for other peoples jobs, but not important for the people educating us? Do you see the test is important for everyone, and why teachers shouldn't be an exception to the rules, no matter what their backwoods reasons are?
I think since men started to create a language there was at least one that stood up and said things how they really are. Some said it in a wrong way and they got killed while others made it sound funny but still the truth and still hurts. BUT, one thing never changed...the people listening did the same thing then and same thing forever....NOTHING. We like to listen to feel good or bad and then move on...but we never stop to do something and change what is WRONG.
People laughing at the stupidity of this man that isn't funny at all. Why laugh at stupidity when we are taught by our Creator about Humility! Our country has a sickness and has for a long long time!
What he is more true today than back then. If your opinions are not the acceptable ones then you are a trouble maker or right wing little fac@1$t. When I was a kid his shows were usually past my bed time . I didn't watch him much until I out on my own. We need more comics like him.
"I got my opinion wrong!"
I felt that in my bones.
Holds as true today as it did when he said this.
I felt it in my left ear
@@noahsanders2561let me crack you in the other one, so you can complain about it for a good reason.
yep... and the audience laged a bit to laugh at it... I do not know if because they felt it to or because they didn't understand it fast enough.
Every point is still true in 2023. One of the best.
Cant believe i thought he just told corny jokes and squashed watermelons. Chappelle show didnt do him right.
And in 2024❤️🇨🇦❤️
Definitely one of the best comedians there ever was! R I P🙏🏼
So glad I got to meet Gallagher after one of his last CT shows. Such a nice guy.
I remember watching both the Smothers Brothers show and the Gallagher TV specials back then.
Some of the few times I actually seen my dad laugh.
One of my favorite stand up comics. Totally different than the rest. Made you think.
I liked how it played with the English language, much like how early Carlin did.....
Chris Titus is just like that. He's funny, but most of what he says is true.
Did you ever stop to think and forget to start again?
Gallagher is one of those few comedians that show us there isn't enough thumbs in the world that we can put up.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
@Modok.Saint424and you're one of THOSE....
Rest in Peace, genius Gallagher🙏

How much can you dance in the endzone? That one got me!
Gallagher was in a class of his own.
Truly one of the greats!
Enjoyed him when I was like five and just stopped seeing him on tv. Definitely glad I finally figured out his name definitely enjoy his art more now.

Wow! The Smothers boys! Nice to see you! 🇺🇸
I was lucky enough to see him in Long Beach, Ca. Was funny as hell!
Excellent comedy!
This man was smarter than most people ever give him credit for.
He made his props himself...always
1.2K+👍's up Gallagher he's the man
Thanks for sharing 😂🎉😅
Thank you very much...
I loved Gallagher. His last name helped, but smart enough to figure this out.
He and George Carlin - comedic THINKERS that this world truly needed and will sorely miss.
No profanity but a lot of good ol' common sense packed with a lot of humor!🤗
I enjoy his humor.
There's more to Gallagher than smashing watermelons. Miss the guy. A true original. 😂
My left ear enjoyed this.
I know....right!.
@@Rick-if5zbthis guy gets it
That's cool, I didn't know people even still used headphones, hmm
Really only my left ear heard this?
@@Spark-night-klee It's because it was only recorded on the left side.
Miss the guy. Common sense advocate!!!
The start of the captain slow sweater
Use to watch him and laugh till my ribs hurt and difficult breathing, I rolled watching this.
The casuals think of the melons, the fans remember shit he actually says.

Probably the only comedian show where they hand you a raincoat or umbrella with your ticket. 🤪
Did u suck him ? I heard thats what he did with gentlemen bk stage. So cool man , love Gallagher.
Glad having had him suggested to me. Didn’t know of him before today afternoon.
Brained entertainment most welcome here. : )
Cheers from Berlin.
Such a genius.
Also: >gh< in >ghost< isn’t pronounced as in >though< or as in >enough
R.I.P. Gallagher (or is it Gal-iger the "H" is silent) ??? You art STILL my fav comedian.
OH goodness...I had NO idea he had passed on. Goodness, this was a VERY funny funny man.

I love the flip chart
"how much can u dance in the endzone..?" 😂😂😂😂

Lmao, man, I wish I was alive for this man's heyday.
Boy do we need Gallagher and George carlin back asap. This country is in the crapper in 2023
The comedy world sucks... Too many clowns not enough Gallaghers
2:22 😂😂😂😂😂😂
This man should be recognized as the developer of the meme!😂
My left ear laughed while my right ear sat in silence.
"I got in trouble for asking questions... I got my own opinion wrong!"

Lot of comments in which people say they attended his shows.!
Gallagher must have done many shows in many areas at affordable fees.!!!
Once I got an F on a question that asked for my opinion. 😂
I got my opinion wrong. 🤣
He was the best.
We miss comedy from when it was actually funny. So much today, it's like SNL that's been having to use APPLAUSE signs and electrified seating to make the studio audience laugh on cue
😂😂😂😂 man he what a talent
He's right about how screwy the English language is 😂
The audio isn't working on this vid....😢

He could have done all of the stand up without the props. the man was awesome.

When I was a dumb kid who knew nothing about anything, I really liked Gallagher.
RIP David Crosby...
Cool

Rust In Peace, My Brother

Sad how you can watch something this old, and basically NOTHING has changed. Every joke was still fully relevant.
You wonder why foreigners have such a tough time with our language.Well there you go.

Gallagher was a national treasure. Until he is officially recognized as such by the US Government people should not trust the government.
I before E ? She’s definitely NEVER been to Germany.💜👿
the right ear is lonely here.
Oh home ec. how to plan meals, do basic repairs, prepare a household budget... What a letdown.
Tried with 1 ear bud and no go… WFT?
He dead
I only saw him live once, at Sahara's in Las Vegas. My gut hurt for three days from laughing so hard...
To be fair "Einstein" is pronounced according to German rules.
The Great Gallagher
Yeah lets watch Gallagher now that he’s passed instead of when he was alive and trying to keep his career alive.
sound only on left speaker, how annoying
He got an “F”about his “opinion.” He must have been talking to a Woke democrat.
When the far left had a sense of humor.

Great. Now I’ve got to now hear the same joke over and over again except with less enthusiasm and originality…
Get sent to the principal for "acting smart". Excuse me, but I didn't know that having a brain is frowned upon in this establishment. 😒

Gallagher has never made me laugh, ever. He appeals to the lowest common denominator IMHO.
Why did you waste your time coming to this video then?
Sounds like someone else that got their opinion wrong
It was the watermelon that did 90% of the work. Without it, Gallagher kind sucks.
“ The Drivers Ed teacher is Legally Blind.”
I love it when clips are in mono. Gross.
Bet you some kids were like "what's a home ec teacher?"
