I built plastic A/FX models of both when those cars were NEW, but the Comet was my favourite! The ‘Bolt spun third gear and had to back off slightly, but that Comet just hooked up from the line, and was gone… Great vid!
I agree with Dave Holloman, This is a Ford on Ford crime. Thats what I couldnt stand about Pinks. In a 20 car runoff there could be 4 Fords and they always made sure that they were paired against each other.
@@josephtravers777 -- Thunderbolts were 1964 Fairlane 500 cars. All were 2 door (posters) sedans. No sport coupes. The Fairlane in this video is a sports coupe with a few thunderbolt aftermarket pieces bolted on, yes.

The closest comparison for Mercury would be '64 Comet A/FX for weight but Comet wheelbase slightly shorter by 1.5".
