    Here's part 1 of this 2 part case mod series: • Modding the InWin 301 ...
    Finally got the parts and was able to finish the InWin 301 case mod! I changed out the CPU cooler fan just because I thought the black fan matched the theme of the case a little better than the default white one. I am also aware of the fact that I spray painted red RAM sticks red again, I just wanted them to match the red I used on the GPU. Also, now you've seen a super easy way to paint your RAM if ever you feel inclined! :D
    The GPU backplate looks decent but it's not perfect. You can kind of see some light shining up through the paint in spots it's not supposed to, and the light doesn't defuse as evenly as I'd like. I'm still trying to find a cheap and easy way of building backlit backplates, and when I do find a way I'll be sure to let you all know :)
    This is a pretty good gaming PC, if you are interested in building your own you could literally use the same exact parts I did and be in really good shape!
    Here's the parts list (affiliate links):
    InWin 301 PC case: amzn.to/2uL7kGf
    CPU: I5-7500: amzn.to/2v9uZ4k
    Cryorig H7 CPU cooler: amzn.to/2uaNoZP
    G.Skill Ripjaws V 16GB RAM: amzn.to/2uOk1yB
    EVGA GTX 1060 SSC: amzn.to/2hefG4z
    Gigabyte H270 Motherboard: amzn.to/2heQECk
    Kingston 120GB SSD: amzn.to/2eYYa3K

    Corsair RGB LED fans: amzn.to/2hepZ8G

    Am I the only one who thinks Dietec uses waaaaaay too much thermal paste?
    To my understanding, the basis of thermal paste is to cover up any micro-gaps between the two metal surfaces of the CPU/GPU and the cooling unit, because the metal surfaces will naturally have concave areas. Where those concavities don't touch, heat will not be transferred as effectively = less cooling. Really heavy thermal paste actually decreases heat transfer by clogging up the exchange of energy from CPU/GPU to cooling apparatus.
    Love the channel tho, 11/10

    Soon as I saw 2 pieces of acrylic being cut I knew it was gpu backplate time. Well you crushed it man. Great work on plate!!!!!!
    You can avoid using a DC jack tails all together if you want to do some minor soldering. What we do is buy male sata to female molex adapters. Usually under $1 each. Snip off the molex connection and the extra 2 wires. Led strips are either going to be 5v or 12v. Snip off the dc jack and you will be left with 12v and ground cables. Solder those 2 wires to the 2 wires from the SATA adapter. And then you just plug directly into any PSU sata connection.
    You can also pickup Bluetooth RGB or RGBW controllers from China for anywhere from $4-7 each. Then you just install the app on your phone and you are good to go. What we are trying to get into next is RGBW addressable strips. RF controllers are around $5 with the bluetooth being around $12-$15. So many more options and controls with addressable. And I actually don't think any motherboard, case, or fan company is doing addressable yet. I know some Gigabyte boards will do 5 pin RGBW strips.

      I would say pickup a Cooler Master Masterbox lite 5. Typically only $50 on Amazon and Newegg. If you have never spray painted I recommend even some practice on cardboard. Just to get a handle on painting. I also recommend buying the spray can gun adapter. Its usually $3 and it does give you slightly more control and feel. Also place the spray cans in warm water for 20 minutes then shake for 1-2 minutes. That will make the paint come out nice and smooth and never clumpy or spray weird etc.
      Only other thing to be aware of is extruded acrylic vs cast acrylic. Typically cast is with the brown paper backing and extruded is with the clear plastic backing. I've found extruded often to be a pain. Especially if you only have an acrylic hand "cutting" tool. And if you are drilling or cutting it with a machine it has to be masked or your risk melting or cracking. Extruded is usually sold at local home improvement stores and is 50% less $$ then the cast you find online. And snapping extruded is nothing like scoring and snapping cast.

    One question, the backplate of the gpu is nice...but in that type of case...i would put more effort on the backplate than painting the video card that is so low in the case...that we do not see the card and the nice job you did painting it...i would prefer a vertical one at least to see the nice job you did.

    It was kind of a waste to do all that work on the fan side of the Video Card, Unless they plan to do a 90 degree set up. It just won't be seen. Good work overall-and I know it's usually what the customer wanted.

      Also, I got some rustoleum flat white that I'm planning to paint my gpu and rams with. Is it peelable? Only asking since I saw you're using rustoleum too.

    Hey dietec. I also want to make a rgb backplate but i dont know how. I see in the description that you want to make yours better. Go to the channel (jeffrey mays) there is an tutorial but i didnt get what and how he placer the led and such. Can you also make a tutorial of how to make a led backplate

    • @DIYTechTube
      @DIYTechTube  7 років тому

      +Jeffrey Boellaard I've seen that video actually. He used a laser cutter which I don't have access to, so I'm trying to find a way to make a great looking backplate with more affordable tools. As soon as I find the best way to do it, I'll definitely make a tutorial

    • @jeffreyboellaard3836
      @jeffreyboellaard3836 7 років тому

      You dont have to use the laser cutter. You can use the things you now use to cut acrylic but you need some sort of reflector i saw in that video. If you are going to make a tutorial plz do close shots of how you do it and not from a distance

    • @JimmysTheBestCop

      Love the frog tape cause everyone sells it. Even walmart. So if you need it immediately you can always get it. Heard there is even better stuff but its mostly online so can't really be bothered with it. I've found the blue painters tape is awful for spray cans. I use it mostly to hold things while I'm soldering cause it leaves to residue. Or if I had to mask off a large section I just use the Frog tape on the outside where the paints will meet and use the blue stuff on the inside just to protect from overspray/wind/dust/etc. And I still need normal every day masking tape for other non painting tasks. But I try to pick that up from the Dollar Store sometimes they even have the blue paint there.
