This anime is amazing. It's so good because although the premise is so absurd with Kongming apparently in present times, it's a story about a young woman wanting to succeed in the music industry. I watch it to see her succeed and that to me is what makes this anime great.

The weird part isn't the premise itself, but how the series has to actively remind you of the premise CONSTANTLY. Not out of a sense of repetition for its own sake, but because every character is so well-written that you get sucked in and forget that an ancient Chinese chancellor is in a rap battle against a modern day Japanese Eminem.
Japanese Eminem vs Popstar manager zhuge liang isn't something anyone expected but it was made brilliantly.
With a premise like this you GOTTA swing for the fences because if you don't knock it out of the park you will be dumped into the watched once heap at best or worse being remembered as a terrible show with an equally terrible hook.
I thought this would be a haha this is a fun show not a NEED to watch every single time a new episode comes out

Just one more details, not teen, she seems a high school graduate, mentioned her past school life. And she is allowed to work in a club with licensed alcoholic drinks. According to Japan law, she must be an adult.

This is what I like about anime, something so absurdly bizarre, the idea sounds stupid, ancient times tactician manages a modern day singer, the op is old electro-disco music from the 90's. But the execution is so flawless, anything seems possible in the world, give someone a dumpster fire and they can give you the Mona Lisa.

I love how even though this song is so bouncy, the characters are dancing to a slower beat and look more flowy. It contrasts greatly to the vibe of the song, so its aesthetics don't completely overwhelm you.
It is really nice they made it like that. Gives you the space to appreciate the characters, their designs, and the visuals. I also really like how you can tell this is intentional because her cute little chicken walk at 0:43 is exactly on beat with the song, during a part of the OP that's less visually intense.

It's a tiny detail, but I love how the characters have different hand gestures and slightly off timed movements to make it seem as if you're actually seeing 6-8 people dancing, instead of a copy-pasted base model.
the differences are also likely based on each characters' age. notice how the older characters have less fluid movements or just bends slightly less compared to the younger ones

this whole anime feels surreal, the opening just gives you this... "out of place" feel with the wild mix of different styles. and that wild mix of things that just "click" together is the best way i can describe the anime 2 episodes in.

This has been the biggest surprise this season,one of the best and that literally came out of nowhere. Went in expecting nothing and got one of the most entertaining male protagonist of the season and a female protagonist that made me root for her so much,both with only one episode. Not to mention this banger of an opening!

@@jkryan8252 it’s probably that one that they meant,the comedy didn’t hit as hard as in the manga but that in no way means it’s a bad adaptation,it’s quite an amazing one actually. It’s just that they didn’t give enough time for some jokes to land because this first chapter that was adapted had 70+ pages,that’s why it also felt a bit more fastpaced too. As for any other they might not have liked I have no idea,everything that I’ve checked so far has been as good or better than the source.

I'm hungarian and when I first heard this op I was like "I heard this before" so I looked up the title of the song and instantly found out why. There was a hungarian party song made in 2013 and this op is basically the translation of that one but with a few changes. I would've never expected that song to be made and anime opening so it was a surprise but a welcome one.

Fun Fact:EIKO's full name is Tsukimi Eiko and in the real history，zhu ge liang's wife named HUANG YUE YING(there are different statement of different name but this one is the most common one )，YUE in japanese is Tsuki，Tsukimi's Tsuki(moon) and YING is Eiko's Ei(Eng)，so basically her source of name is from zhugeliang's wife and zhugeliang is literally helping his wife to become a great singer。
reason why i get the ref is becuz in chinese，eiko's full name read as YUE JIAN YING ZI ，like i said above and as a chinese ，i get the ref as i saw eiko's name，just brilliant。

Although in the current anime, she is more akin to Liu Bei rather than Yueying, being Zhuge's "master" and all. Him listening to her 3 times before deciding to support an underdog's rise to the top is very much the same as Liu Bei's 3 visits. Her initial instagram follower is also 208, the year of the battle of Red Cliffs, which is considered a "turning point" for Liu in the war and in this anime, it's when Eiko's life began to change for the better.
I guess she's basically a mix between the two historical figures

For everyone who cares about the whereabouts of the original version. It's acutally based on a Hungarian song by "Jolly" and the songs name is "Bulikirály" which was composed in 2013-2014. And I think we all agree that both vesion is a massive banger. (EDIT: changed "real" to "original" thanks for the correction Jeremy ^^)

Before the season started i read the synopsis and thought to myself "This sounds super interesting, why is it so low on members? I'll watch it even if the production is bad just because of the story." Then the first episode came out, crushed my expectations and hooked me in. Next thurstday i was literally waiting for the next episode to drop and then this banger greets me. Super happy i found this show, definetly a hidden gem, hope it gets the recognition it deserves.
I doubt it would get the recognition in deserves. This and Deaimon are arguably the best of the season.
