My dad was a popular local bluegrass player and singer. I grew up hearing it every night in the living room, but I was more into the newer grass. I'll always remember my dad had every single vinyl Doc Watson on the shelves, but I wasn't smart enough to listen. Billy has helped me understand how seminal Doc was, and while I'm grateful for that, I sure missed a lot of opportunities to listen to Doc w/ pops. Better late than never though.
Billy Strings did an incredible version of this song last night at the Frost Amphitheatre in Palo Alto. Just stunning. There's a good video of it here on UA-cam.
I love how it begins with "and" as if the question could cut in at any time and is always looming.
thank you BMFS for introducing me to this mans work
CHILLS!! The day I discovered Doc Watson changed me. I love him and this music.

As I do as well !!
Guy has an incredible voice, but personally to me this version is the best. It's somber and haunting.
For one who has taken his birth, death is certain; and for one who is dead, birth is certain😊
Am I die to born?
It's plausible
Yes. But it's what we do inbetween😉
I just accidentally born to die. Is this dangerous?
