    I'm not quite 62 yet but I know I need to plan early for all these retirement benefits. I've downloaded your book and will read it slowly and thoroughly. Thank you for explaining Medicare in terms the average person can understand. It all just seems way too complicated so I'm so glad I found your channel!

    I am getting ready to enroll soon ,when I do it will be for part A and I was wanting to know if there was a good other part for dental, the restof my coverage comes from the military va but not eligable for dental. My dentist has told me there is really no medicare part worth a darn that covers hardly anything , and they recommend keeping your money and just paying cash for anything that may pop up with dental. Your thoughts.

    Hi Keith. Great information I just wished I watched it earlier. I turn 65 on Aug 1 so I will sign up for July 1 but I didn’t know this information and I just contributed to me HSA what kind of penalty will it be? Also, my husband is only 60 and is on a real high deductible plan that qualifies for the HSA how does that work? Can he still contribute?

  • @MiracleFound
    @MiracleFound 2 місяці тому

    If I am covered under my husband's insurance from work, is that credible insurance and when do I need to sign up? I should be on his insurance for at least 7 more years.

    I think I missed the enrollment period. I turn 65 at the end of June. I enrolled May 3. Do I have to re-enroll in January and pay the penalty for those 8 months?

    • @MedicareonVideo
      @MedicareonVideo  Місяць тому

      Hi Scott- You turn 65 at the end of June, this year? If so, you actually have until the end of September to apply for Medicare during your Initial Enrollment Period.

    Keith, I am contributing to my HSA account, as I will still be employed and covered by their insurance until April, 2025, at which time I plan to enroll in Medicare Part B and begin collecting Social Security. Last month (April 2024) I enrolled in Medicare Part A only. My questions are: 1) Can I continue to contribute to my HSA without penalty, by only being enrolled in Part A? And 2) If I can't contribute contributing to HSA, can I unenroll in Part A until next year? I've read that you can only unenroll in Part A if you are paying a premium for it, which I am not. HELP!!!

    • @MedicareonVideo
      @MedicareonVideo  Місяць тому

      Yes - the rule is no HSA contributions 6 months prior to Medicare - including Part A. Part A has no benefit for you if still on group coverage. You can try contacting SS and see if they can stop it.

    What if you get a supplement plan when you retire and THEN move to a different state?? And a drug plan?

    • @MedicareonVideo
      @MedicareonVideo  3 місяці тому +1

      You will have a Special Enrollment Period for a Part D plan. Your Medicare Supplement will move with you when you relocate, but your rate may also change.

    Ok, sorry to keep on this topic but I just still don't get it. I'm unclear on when proof of creditable insure is required. Is it only if I elect to enroll in Medicare after I turn 65 and beyond the 3-month enrollment window allowed after I turn 65? For example, if I'm still employed at age 66 and elect to retire from my company then I simply get form L564 filled out and all is good. No 10% penalty. I think I get that. Here's where I'm lost. My wife is 60 and is covered under my insurance plan with my employer. If I retire from my employer at 66 (my wife will be 61) and go on Medicare, my wife will lose my 'creditable' employer insurance coverage. We'll of course get her a private plan for coverage between the ages of 61 and 65 because she is retired. Now when she enrolls in Medicare during the IEP will she have any kind of premium penalty because she didn't have creditable coverage prior to enrolling? I thought I understood you to say that there wouldn't be a penalty if someone enrolls during the IEP regardless of what type of insurance you have prior to IEP. Just want to make sure we're understanding this correctly.

    • @MedicareonVideo
      @MedicareonVideo  3 місяці тому +1

      Correct - penalty on Part B would only be after T65 window without creditable coverage. You can have no prior coverage and turn 65 and get Medicare no problem.
