This is really amazing, as usual. So much intensity. Early meshuggah almost seems like a better fit on the piano since I feel like even though they are never not rhythm-driven, they were less RELIGIOUSLY so back then, so not having the drums is less important. Never thought about this song though, it sounds great on piano

I originally wanted to make a version of "Ooo Baby Baby's" from the Mats/Morgan album 'Trends and Other Diseases', and then discovered that it existed (in part) as the 'melodic' section of this Meshuggah track! I totally agree that early Meshuggah seems to be much more within the grasp of some kind of piano rendition, as I've attempted quite a few other Meshuggah arrangements that I've ultimately discarded at some point along the way just because I couldn't find a feasible way to also deliver the drum cross-rhythms.

Originally, I made a piano + drum kit arrangement of this, but I ultimately decided that my virtual drum samples sounded way too dodgy once recorded :D so I very nearly discarded this one. In order to add in the approximate drum beats into the piano part, I also had to compromise on the notes I had originally attempted to play, as well as making the arrangement more of an onslaught. This has been an ongoing concern for many of the arrangements I've wanted to make, and I'm almost giving up on more arrangements than I'm finishing 😅 I'd absolutely love to find a collaborative drummer at some point in the future so that the rhythmic drive of these kinds of arrangements isn't lost or compromised. I think that piano/drum duets of Meshuggah/DEP etc would be much more fun to listen to!
@@SequoiaSounds Your stuff is always on point. Would be curious to hear your take on some Car Bomb... to me, they're like the antithesis of Meshuggah in a way. Meshuggah explores polyrhythm in 4/4... Car Bomb changes meter like a spaz haha. Would be interesting on piano I think.
