Chris, this was the best advice I’ve ever tried. I went to the range today and kept that feeling of sinking to the ground. I also felt more balanced coming through post impact. It’s amazing how straight, high and further the ball went. It will take some more practice but this was so much fun and so helpful. Thank you!
Very good video. I do like the way you give us an ideal (extreme) impact condition to start with. Useful analogy of when you push your hands forward the distance from your chest to club head decreases. So when you have a forward leaning shaft you do need more forward bend / flexion (head lower). I would also love you to include the trail shoulder in this explanation also. I note it’s moved downwards into impact. From having square shoulders at club last parallel. So your pivoting your trail shoulder down into the back of the ball into impact.
Brilliant Chris. Thank you. Being an Australian, discussing cricket with an English lad, possibly isn’t ideal (lol). However, a simple way how I explain how you can hit the ball further, with more consistency in reaching your target is to also look at how far and accurate top cricketers chase balls down, stopping 4’s, gathering the ball and the weight transfer and movements made to throw the ball as far as they do and land it consistently in the keeper’s gloves. Also being a Melbourne lad, home of possibly the largest ground area and stadium combination they are throwing the ball at times further than your average golfer can hit their driver.
Makes total sense that we need to lower ourselves towards the ground to finish the shot past the ball and to take a divot, otherwise we would just top the ball every time. Another great tip Chris, you’re a genius.
Chris, I’ve been doing the “water level” drill with all my irons and the compression at impact is incredible. The problem is I’m unable to translate that to a full swing. Can you do a video where you introduce how to integrate this drill into a full swing?
Chris I need to ask with this method does it refer to all irons and wedges or just certain irons? As I would like to know how different it is for wedges if any different.

Chris- you’re the BEST INSTRUCTOR ( 8 over 10 years)I’ve ever had!
Thank You
This is so me with my irons that I keep topping the ball. This video is going to be so helpful for my game I can’t wait to start trying it.
Really hope it helps 🙌

Hey Marcus, yeah cricket is certainly not our strongest sport at the moment! 😁
@@ChrisRyanGolf Cricketers do however also tend to be good golfers (at least the Australian team). 😂
Great explanation.
Thank you for your efforts to make us play better golf.
ANOTHER great lesson, thanks!!

Exactly! Not east to do as can feel in natural, but such a key move

Once again great tips Chris, but can you do this with woods🤔
Slightly different with driver, I’d keep this drill just for irons
I'm struggling with this issue atm. Standing up during downswing causes a lot of thin shots. Feels weird but going down to the ball really helps.
Great video Chris… thanks for sharing
Thanks Ed
Well explained 👍 ….timing is everything though, and I think I might overdo it occasionally which leads to moving towards the target too much.
Yeah agreed, any ‘correct’ move has to be timed well, but get it right and can be huge for ball striking
Good clear lesson. Thanks.
Thanks Scott
Do you actively hold the right wrist angle?
Chris I need to ask with this method does it refer to all irons and wedges or just certain irons? As I would like to know how different it is for wedges if any different.
Yea you can go ahead and do this with all irons and wedges
Is it the same for drivers
A great video Chris as they all are.
Thanks Geoff
When I Try this I hit the ground before the ball. Why? what could be the cause ?
This concept is for iron shots only? Assuming this doesn't apply for driver swing?
It’s a little different with driver yes, generally a little less lateral, so one for the irons here
Are you pushing off the left leg or both
Through impact I’m pushing a lot more from the left leg
Such a great video 👍
Thanks Patrick 🙌
Well done Chris 👏 😊
Thanks Roy
Random but is taht a roller coaster in the back ground lol?
Nice graphics.
