  • Hello Shiny Crafty People and welcome back to the channel!
    Today I'm making a fun apron out of old men's neckties! Can you imagine?!?!
    It was totally fun and a new idea for me. I plan to use some other parts of neckties to make smaller projects in the future, but I figured I'd try the hardest thing I could think of right off the bat! LOL
    I used a handful of neckties and some thread and a sewing machine. After an early attempt, I also added some stabilizer to keep the from stretching out of form.
    Here’s a link to the stabilizer I used: amzn.to/3UEpLJh
    I hope you enjoy this video and, until next time, stay crafty!
    Bye for now!

    OMGosh! I just love this apron!! What a fun idea! My Dad was an Elementary Principal for many years and always wore ties. He donated them all when he retired. This would have been such a wonderful way to use his ties❣️I may need to head to the thrift stores and hunt up some ties! Very fun!

    Super idea and I'm so happy that I've hung on to my Dad's ties.
    Now I've got to learn how to do the Windsor Knot...never thought of it for neck tying an apron!

    Love this apron, very clever, Timothy! The only downside is, tie materials usually spot easily and not machine washable...must dry clean, so it's somewhat impractical.

    such a cool idea. can this be washed in a regular washing machine?

      I would not suggest it. Most ties are not machine washable.

      Less than an hour, actually, but if I’d been a bit more careful might have taken a little longer. Was a lot of fun to make. Not sure what I’m gonna do with it. It’s still hanging up in my studio. Lol

    Ties are cut on the bias which is why thy stretch and are able to tie.

    What material would you put on back if you want to have a finished look?

    • @timothytotten9409
      @timothytotten9409  6 місяців тому

      I think a nice rayon or satin would be in keeping with the neckties, but that’s a lot of work. Anything really, just as long as you hand stitch it so the stitching doesn’t come through the front.

    Only problem with me/my brain says. Aprons Do you get dirty so how do you wash thisApron or do you have to have it dry cleaned. ?

    • @timothytotten9409
      @timothytotten9409  Рік тому

      I totally agree! I think this is mostly an apron for show, rather than for actual heavy use. Think of it as a host/hostess apron when serving food already prepared while wearing a normal apron.
