A great film by Leni Riefenstahl and still the best of all the Olympic documentaries in my view. She pioneered new filming techniques for the film that are still used in Hollywood and other serious film countries like Australia. The film won a number of awards in other European countries before WW2. The full documentary, in 2 parts of over an hour each, is here on You Tube too.

I think that the decision to go was the right one. I DO believe that the rest of the world KNEW what was going on behind German borders and this was a good opportunity to see it. But I believe that there was a counter propaganda reason for going. Nazi idealism was that Aryans were better than the "lesser species". Most of the other nations not allied with Nazi Germany did BETTER than them. It was a physical and spiritual blow to Aryan idealism.

Black Sun, Theosophy) that the Aryan race was "polluted " by "animal races" and because of this, the Aryan race was in the mess it was. They didn't like ANY race beside their own but they looked to breeding the traits out, leading them back to the "pure Aryan." My family got out during WWI from the Black Forest area. I wasn't raised Jewish because the Jewish people that came over here were cognitive of the antisemitism here in the US.
