    I am 70 and have preached all my life and taught. I have keep my tongues secret from others. I believed and received a work at night as I was praying. You have opened my eyes to the gift I have. I’ looked all my life some how to understand my gift to use correctly. Most churches are out of control with the gift. Thanks for helping me and opening my eyes. Thank you thank you. I’m so happy I have listened to your teaching.

    I’ve gone thru the book of acts. Talked with Pentecostal preachers and really dove into tongues. It maybe be a gift for some. I have never felt the holy spirit compel me to speak in a strange language. I actually feel very uncomfortable when I hear people speaking in tongues. I am still trying to wrap my head around it

    Thanks for clearing that up, I always knew what I was praying about but never got the details like you said. It is like in your heart you know after the praying in Tongues. Most times if I pray for people, I just trust the Holly Spirit to lead me in tongues, then while my Spirit is flowing, I sometimes see in the Spirit (my Imagination) what I pray about or I get a deep knowing and most times then switch into English after the prayer and speak the word of the Prayer over the person, God is real people. Without faith you will get nothing from God.

    Again-the Lord through you belted that one out of the park!
    Even today-the Lord has dropped it in me to pray in tongues regarding asking the Lord for the gift of interpreting. First-so I can get the gist of knowing what's going on and be clued in as the Lord allows. I want to know all that He wants me to know. Second-when someone around me or myself speaks in tongues where others are present-I want to be submitted to Him and obedient to deliver that gist and explanation of the prayer in tongues.
    Thank you again brother for being obedient and humble before our Lord. I have learned quite a bit today!

    Interpretation vs translation reminds me of a story. A diplomat was speaking in another country, and he had a translator with him. One day, while talking to a high official there, he noticed his translator was talking a lot longer than should have been necessary. He asked the translator about this. Very calmly, the translator said "First, I say exactly what your words were, THEN I tell him what you meant by those words so he could have a clear understanding of your position."
    I've never heard a better explanation of "translation vs Interpretation".

    Allen' I have enjoyed many of your talks, and you have help give me with some understanding into things. I find many times the best way to understand somethings is to be on the outside looking in, when they are talk about... Sometimes you cannot hear yourself for the Words you are speaking, so sometimes it helps to hear others speak... Most religious people do not like speaking with me because of me being a Christian, and not religious... But I must speak up, about using the NLT-Book translation. II Cor 12;2-4 Is Blaspheming... It was not' I was caught up. It was, I knew a man...! This writing is the clearest thing in the Bible. And you are an intelligent man, you know this is speaking about John, not Paul...! God gave us language for a reason, and each generation at times God has change that language for a reason, and by trying to turn back time on language only causes chaos and confusion... Go back to the early writing of Wycliffe, Tyndale, or even the 1611 version of the King James Bible... You will see how Words have been change. By using different versions of books today is like, jumping on both side of the fence...! Which side are you on...? Do not let chaos bring down your good works... God Bless

    Wow! Perfect! A real confirmer! Clears up "translate" and "interpret" I found myself jumping in and acting as a pretty effective interpreter between a chinese translator and another man from india who spoke pretty good English without knowing either language because the translator couldn't INTERPRET engineering principles. hang around the guys in my engine shop or at the race track and most lay people will need an interpreter to get the gist of the slang and discussion. I left a church because they refused to acknowledge Corinthians about how tounges was to and not to be used in service. I actually caught the pastor coaching a person about delivering their upcoming "spontaneous tounge" so it would tie into his message! I had been suspecting this for some time. This teaching was causing much damage to people who were told they had unconfessed sin in their lives (usually not tithing enough) if they couldn't do it, and that they had NO other spiritual gifts because it came first. I do pray in tounges, but not enough. But I can say that most times when I am led to, buckle up, because things are going to move! I usually receive the interpretation in a deep understanding in my spirit accompanied by a vision that may only last a few seconds at most. I draw out the vision on my chalkboard and write out the interpretation in English as best I can, praying for the discernment and researching it in scripture to see that there's no conflicts. As I study the imagery of the vision I usually get a more complete understanding over several days. No specific vision of future events or of something unknown going on in someone's life has ever been in error. Others have witnessed without my knowledge, while I was in spiritual prayer somewhere else in the house unbeknownst to them, things going on. Three times, witnessed by 4 different people and one of those times not praying in tounges, but during a witnessing discussion in another room while in another person's house who was dabbling in the occult, everyone was startled and scared by a forceful cold "wind" blowing around them from down the hallway from his room, but moving nothing, in a closed building. sometimes people have been scared by this to the point of running to find me. Every time it was happening I knew nothing of it and they were rooms away not knowing what I was doing. in fact only one person believed in tounges. One of those interpretations was that all "language" is imperfect for communicating things of the spirit because languages use abstract words to communicate the concrete. To God in his dimension this world is abstract because it isn't eternal, for one thing it is a communication tool, universally understandable, and serves as an example to communicate about him in part, either through observation, or by specific examples taught by revalation in scripture. such as marriage, birth, seed and harvest, etc to "mortal" beings. So actually the devine interpretation, bringing the soul into alignment and understanding of the eternal through spiritual communion with God is more accurate to the "concrete" in God's eternal world than the any of the words that try to convey that message. That's why it's often shorter. "We see through a glass darkly for now". At times I'm so worn out afterwards I feel like a limp dish rag after I'm done. I and my wife have noticed that often two "languages " appear, a lighter more repetitive one at first and then, sometimes, later a more guttural, non repetitive, "ancient" sounding one. Thats when things move and I'm receiving a constant flow of interpretation and visions. It usually makes me sweat, possibly cry, and sometimes by straining my muscles, physically wears me out in minutes. Kind of like the effects of a Spock "mind meld," like experiencing God's emotions about an event or issue. Call me a crackpot but I know it's bona-fide because I've written some of the prophetic VERY specific multi faceted "impossible " visions down, showed them to my friends and family, and had them to prove my spirit by if ALL the details came true! This is just the beginning of the gifts of the Holy Spirit made available to us through Jesus that I enjoy and am sometimes burdened with. No man taught me any of this, or confirmed that my beliefs about tounges or interpretation was right until confirming it here! I'm certainly NOT perfect, and often needed this to keep going to increase my faith when I wasn't listening any other way! I know pastor Nolan is in alignment with God! Please Pray for me to be able to find a good local church if possible!

    I have been a Pentecostal believer since I was saved in 1960, baptized in the Holy Ghost in 1961.
    I have been taught by the expert in the gifts of the spirit ever. My teacher was the Bible and the
    Holy Ghost. I have also been taught by ministers who are very in depth with the anointing and knowledge of the workings of the Holy Ghost. I don't trust many of these so called preachers on the internet, I don't know who they are.

    Brilliantly explained...so would you say that in a church meeting a tongue is brought then i feel God is laying something on my heart or challenging me on something that i could share that as an interpretation? Maybe its pertinent to others in the meeting ?

    Can’t believe that 1Cor 14 v 13 hasn’t been mentioned, “ let him who speaks in tongues pray that he may interpret.”
    Do that and you will know the gist of what you are praying, also 1 Cor 5 a says “ he who prophesies is greater than he who prayers in tongue UNLESS he interprets
    ( that which he has just spoken )
    Everyone is hung up on there being
    Some other interpreter in Church but this verse says not necessarily so.
    Sometimes it seems our problem is not seeing what is there written down .

    The gift is called diversity of tongues.
    1 Corinthians 12:10 To 😊another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues.
    Could one tongue be for worship, another for perfect prayer, another for a message to the body?

    I have a question here sir;
    As much as the expression of tongues interpretation is the giving of the general gist, does that not mean that a portion of the message will be lost? (because such gists has actually been watered-down)

      God only gives the interpretation it to is a gift as the tongues is .there is a gift of tongues that Is a sign to the unbeliever so one may by the HolySpirit get up in the congregation andvsay something in tongues and another by the HolySpirit may get up and can say what it means and the unbeliever will know it is being said to him and he may believe and be saved that happen to me and I was the one being spoken to and chills went all over me I knew it was for me and it was pretty strange but it was real

      “Tongues” simply means “languages”. The gibberish and noise you hear these days in churches is fake. They aren’t real languages. They can’t be interpreted, which is why it’s confusing. Confusion doesn’t come from God, it comes from somewhere else.

      @@lequitahartfield2886 Sister, please turn to I Cor. 14:2... Paul emphatically, categorically and finally asserts that one who speaks in a tongue speaks to God and NOT to man. You should also notice in around verse 22 and beyond that the operation of a tongue in a congregation decidedly does NOT lead to the attending unbelievers' being convicted and converted; that only happens when prophecy is spoken - prophecy which is NOT an interpretation of a tongue, regardless of what so many Pentecostal and charismatic congregations "believe and practice." That "belief" ignores I Cor. 14:2 and is actually one of the occurrences among congregations that Paul refers to (again, I Cor 14) as "indecent (because it does not fit) and out of order." Someone may in fact speak a word of prophecy subsequent to someone else's speaking out in a tongue, but the prophetic utterance is indecent because the prophecy addresses men while tongues ONLY address God (I Cor 14:2) and it is out of order because time and place should have been given for someone to correctly operated the gift of interpretation which will let the congregation know what was being said TO God so that they can "say amen to the giving of thanks."

    • @georgefisher8610
      @georgefisher8610 2 роки тому

      @@therealgingerbeardman If tongues "simply means 'languages'" why did Luke - obviously an educated, literary man use both "glossalalia" and "dialektos" in Acts 2 in order to describe/designate the very same thing? When the hearers declared that they were hearing the disciples "in their own tongues," they were referring to the fact that the words spoken were spoken with the very same accent and diction that only one fluent in a language would manifest. The Galileans were basically hicks. And for them to not only speak a different, known language but to speak it in such a way that with blindfolds on the hearers would not be able to discern that they were hearing non-native speakers.

    Gift of interpretations is who who interprets, translates the gift of tongues.
    KJV Dictionary Definition: interpret
    interpret
    INTER'PRET, v.t. L. interpretor, from interpres.
    1. To explain the meaning or words to a person who does not understand them; to expound; to translate unintelligible words into intelligible ones; as, to interpret the Hebrew language to an Englishman.
    --Immanuel, which being interpreted, signified, God with us. Matt.1.
    2. To explain or unfold the meaning of predictions, vision, dreams or enigmas; to expound and lay open what is concealed from the understanding; as, Joseph interpreted the dream of Pharaoh.
    3. To decipher.
    4. To explain something not understood; as, to interpret looks or signs.
    5. To define; to explain words by other words in the same language. Again no person can understand but God, or if there is a person 2hi has the gift of interpretations to interpret what you say.

  • @williamsebald3912
    @williamsebald3912 Рік тому

    Not true. Interpretation of tongues can indeed be a translation or it can be a paraphrase. Reducing it to "the general gist" minimizes the importance of interpretation if I am going to say "Amen" to it. The purpose is for understanding. Worse, it encourages "practicing" this gift by saying whatever comes to mind and trust that God is speaking. When the length of the interpretation is not close to the tongue, then excuse this by saying "it is just the general gist."

    • @georgefisher8610
      @georgefisher8610 2 роки тому +1

      Well wait a minute. If it was God who initiated this experience in the first place, if it was a "gift of/from the Holy Spirit," perhaps you should ask God that question... No one said you are not praying in God's will when you are praying in your own, native tongue. You simply are not praying "in the Spirit." You are operating the same way the 12 disciples in Acts 19 operated. Or, look at it this way: if we assume that the original disciples, just one day BEFORE the day of Pentecost were really saved, really regenerated, then they were not praying "in the Spirit" yet, although they were praying in God's will. If, for the sake of argument, we grant that regeneration and being filled with the Holy Spirit are not necessarily contemporaneous phenomena (see Acts 8...), then a person, a regenerate person can certainly pray in "God's will" while NOT praying in the Spirit.
