YYYEEEESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got to see the Eagle under full sail in the early 80s. I was a kid on my parents 60 foot schooner, headed home from the Queen Charlotte Islands to Vashon Island. Eagle was coming in the Juan de Fuca Strait... all sails flying, BIG beautiful bone in her teeth... We got within less than a mile as she passed in front of us, we dipped the flag to her, got a return salute.... absolutely one of my best memories growing up on that boat. Thanks for posting this!!
I sailed under Capt Ed Cassidy on Sea Cloud, anyone sail under him on Eagle? Btw, never seen those hand rails on the tops on any other ship, are they called sissy bars....?

I also love that beautiful ship. It was launched by Germany in 1936 as the Horst Wessel and was a Kriegsmarine training ship. Her beauty remains.
