Beautiful pegs to fish, excellent barbel caught, well looked after and released fish, very well done John brilliant video as always. I totally agree with your comment if you can’t fish the method you choose first for whatever reason, try something different as you have just proven with three awesome river barbel, tight lines till the next one mate.

Thanks John, the fish go in cycle's, 25 years ago I was catching them on there and there were lots of 8lbers, there are bigger ones but the really big uns are in a different location and no doubt the soeci boys will get upset if I reveal their spots. This was a well known match length I fished for the video

Thanks Clive, the night was drawing in and was almost dark by the time I packed in after the third fish and made my way back across the fields to the van. I was happy with 3, I'm not a greedy angler except when it comes to matches😉

All the best anglers are called John, John😉. Thanks pal, all the fish I've had have been in super condition. Managed one from the Nidd but didn't video it and now my attention is on the Ouse, I'm on a bit of a barbel hunt from all my local rivers this year.

Such a strong fish and they look allot more colourful that the ones you catch down south …… our rivers up ere are the best I recon. Yeah you may catch loads more … on say the Severn …. But you certainly know when a barbel from up north takes ya bait !!! Keep up the great work buddy and would love to see you catching a double on one of your videos …. A Yorkshire double is a special fish ….. I recon this could be your next mission for the camera …. If anyone can !!! You can !!!!!! 👍🏽😀🎣👍🏽😀🎣
A Yorkshire double - definitely a target to aim for. The Aire probably offers the best chance of that but I really want to take it from the Ouse and come autumn, I'll be setting my sights on one. The tackle will be stepped up even further to cope with higher water levels, snags and bigger fish (hopefully) 😁

Before. There’s loads of places I’ve never fished and when I get chance to do some fishing as I’m always working I always end up going to the same spot but I need to broaden my horizons a little. Nothing massive Tony but I don't really care. I'm trying to get one out of a lot of different rivers and then later in the year I'll start targeting some big girls hopefully.

Yes all on the feeder down the middle. I never lost a fish but missed a few finicky bites early in morning possibly small fish mouthing the bait. Gutted I ended up just shy of the mark but it was a nice days fishing.
@@HOOKEDFishingChannel would feel worse if had lost any but looks like couldn't do anymore. Well fished, keep going & sure you'll get there. Im fishing the Aire match at end of August so hope to see you on that one if you haven't already qualified.
Nice one, two, three. I found using a 3-5g chubber a foot over depth was the way to catch them on float down there.
I seemed to be dragging too much weed, it was coming back on the hook even just tripping bottom. As the fish had been splashing I wanted to fish through the layers and waft the bait up but just keeping the float online was a problem with the downstreamer.

Hi Ricky, I'll try and do a few more throughout the season, I don't always take the cameras with me as these can be short roving sessions. There will be the odd commercial video but right now my match calendar and pleasure fishing is focused on the rivers.
No worries, I’ll watch what ever you upload anyway 🤣just wanted to see a few more of you on commercials and to see how you approach them
