I heard this song in a store recently and found out what it was. I know the video makes it out to be a boy meeting a girl, or partner. But to me, having never seen the video, the song is remarkably prescient as I took it to be about a progression away from the times we are currently living in towards better times. “Beautiful thing” could refer to any hope or aspiration, so the song really makes me hopeful at this time. I really love it.
On a side note, I don’t know much of his music but he is IMMENSELY talented, almost too much so for the mainstream. There’s a cover he did of Björk’s Unravel that I heard over ten years ago that is STUNNING but you can’t find it anywhere. There are some live versions that he did at concerts and such posted on UA-cam (which are still magical), but there’s a particular, maybe studio version, he did that used to be on UA-cam also but is no longer there, but it is absolutely perfect and I wish I could find it after all these years to download. No cover of that song compares to his rendition of it.
It's absolutely amazing how the right person singing the right song at the right time can help you so many times in so many ways and you just feel better ❤

We need light in this world and what we dont need is more darkness. Ofc. I think some darkness is important. Without it their would be no light. But we need to come back to whats really important and push this through every mind we interract with. Sex can be more than satisfying with someone that you know very well and have alot of feelings for. It could be the greatest sex you could have. Not with some random stranger. I think I can feel why Jason plans to retire from the music industry, nowadays music ain't like his own. Just a little bit frustrated with Jason Mraz. I don't mind when a musician borrows from another musician in an ode-to kind of way. But, it's frustrating to listen to this song. How close do you need to get to another popular song?
I understand why he does it. It means the song is already familiar and you can drop right into the song and message as if you've already heard it. In fact, you have heard this one if you've ever heard Jewel's _You Were Meant For Me_. Compare the opening guitar, melody, lyrical message (the opening few lines are almost identical) and sing-song quality of this song to Jewel's _You Were Meant For Me_. Sure, the chorus is different, but pretty much the rest of the song is identical (with the exception of the gender of the singer). C'mon Jason, I know you can write more original material than this.
If you want to cover a song, just perform your own cover of it. Don't remake the same song with rephrased lyrics and slightly altered melody. It's been quite a long time since _You Were Meant For Me_ was on the radio. I think in 2014 you could have safely covered that song and done it justice... and probably have even gotten a new hit out of it.
