at 49:45 was there a reason to not order the myr tokens first? wouldn't it be better to have one less myr because of the battlesphere? because you don't particularly care about a 1/1 squirrel whereas the myr actually does something with the sphere.
I think that was a case of being distracted by his own talking, I noticed the same thing, relatively easy to overlook if you're doing multiple things though. PVDDR would have a thing or two to say about this though.... Tiny edges eh?
At 34:49 you had him dead on board with ravages in your hand. By playing ravages before combat you force him to use Scarab God's ability then use titan's trigger to tap down the archmage.
Balance is awesome. It's difficult to use but when you build around it correctly it just wins the game. Problem is that most people have no idea how to do that.
Armageddon/Ravages are the most underrated cards in this cube. People think you need to be exactly aggro for it to be good, but if you get a PW in play or another threat and then Ravages it usually locks them.
I think there was a potentially winning line in match 3 game 1. If you hope to mana drain something big, you can play lotus off of mana drain mana, play conscripts to untap it, then play kiki to win.
At 1:00:00 I feel like the play was exiling conscripts with Wave, stealing Jace, Brainstorming looking for Balance which, considering the smokestack, would basically have reset the game. Probably still not a winning line, but it felt like his only option
At 1:20:30, would it have been better to attack with Glen Elendra, blink it, then chart a course? Were you just hedging to be able to counter something with Glen Elendra since you were pretty ahead?
27:55 With the Consecrated Sphinx trigger on the stack LSV says "I'm at 19." I couldn't tell if he talking about number of cards in his library or his life total. For some reason I always think LSV is more concerned about decking than losing to running out of life.
A bit of a head-scratcher here, why didn't lsv just Resto his Frost Titan after his opponent played a bribery? Wouldn't he control his Frost Titans back after the flicker?
Should have cast Gideon at 51:00 in the second match and not Parallax wave. Then kill Battlesphere with it. That's one threat down, you a planeswalker up and parallax turn after.
Last Turn M1G2, if you had destroyed all lands he would have to return glen before combat and then frost giant kills them, they scooped early obviously, but you had the win in hand even without conscripts.
Is the Taiga choice made better by the fact that we had Misty so our Blue duel fetched red too and we're red? Too bad you didn't go Blue White Cheons though. Unlucky :)
I still wished someone would go big green. I would've picked rofellos pick 2 pack 1 and just go u/g. I feel that a card like gilded lotus is ok, but rofellos is clearly a better card and u/g opposition is great. I'd just force that deck every time. It's probably terrible, but to hell with that, it would be very fun.
Not that I'm aware of. I mean it's understandable when you open Mana Drain. The only thing better than blue based control/storm etc is someone like mono red/red white burn, green ramp or BW reactive control. Honestly this type of Jeskai midrange is about as far out to sea as you will see him draft lol
Haven't had success with UW Control in cube? I told someone today that it seems like going UW gives me two free wins every time. Sure, no busted cards, but you also stop all the busted things your opponent is doing. Maybe my experience is the odd one out, but I'm sure that at least 4 of my 10 trophies were with a UW deck, and I haven't done any worse than 2-1 this cube cycle with UW Control. Maybe I'm just lucky though.
Watch his live stream. He plays intense vintage cube decks and games. Like mind blowing at times. Lots of humor, too. You're missing out if all you're watching is the CFB videos on UA-cam.
"We could be drafting blue control." Could we Luis? *COULD WE?!*
[Don't ever stop drafting blue control :D]
its 'luis'
(We could)
LSV is a simple man. He sees blue, he takes it.
LSV opens a Mana Drain pack1? We all know where this is going boys and girls
not taking swords is crazy
This is all I've wanted for christmas.
All I want for christmas is blue!
Stipulation: NO BLUE CARDS
let's see it, LSV
Joe Smith I was just about to comment something sarcastic that basically meant the same thing.
Lot's of people did lol. I just wanna see it once, other than that I love seeing seeing a good ol blue deck
Joe Smith he should probably do mono red
Just be mono red
I’ve got one in the pipeline that has no blue!
at 49:45 was there a reason to not order the myr tokens first? wouldn't it be better to have one less myr because of the battlesphere? because you don't particularly care about a 1/1 squirrel whereas the myr actually does something with the sphere.
49:45 ^^
Thanks. fixed it

Yeah. It's always easier to see those things when you are not playing yourself.
Or at least not distracted by doing comentary at the same time
LSV, vintage cube, mana drain thumbnail. Gotta be that late gift I was waiting for the whole christmas!
Anyone else get ASMR from LSV? 😂 voice is so damn calming
I've been waiting SO long to watch a draft in which Luis doesn't draft blue, JUST ONCE, and the man opens a Mana Drain.
At 34:49 you had him dead on board with ravages in your hand. By playing ravages before combat you force him to use Scarab God's ability then use titan's trigger to tap down the archmage.
thought the same, then they concede and he was gonna draw conscripts anyway. What luck!
[4:48] "...and I'm not even saying you should always draft blue. I'm just saying I will always draft blue."
I love hearing his swallowing and saliva noises.
Me too. It's so musically
At 28:10 LSV said "TSG" and I got sad
Beautiful M1G2. Beating Elesh Norn on board in a race is quite something.
The best birthday gift I could ask for!
Balance is awesome. It's difficult to use but when you build around it correctly it just wins the game. Problem is that most people have no idea how to do that.
Passing Tinker and Balance in a Daretti deck. You are a braver man than I
Armageddon/Ravages are the most underrated cards in this cube. People think you need to be exactly aggro for it to be good, but if you get a PW in play or another threat and then Ravages it usually locks them.
"Smokestack is just always terrible."
Well, never stopped you before.
I think there was a potentially winning line in match 3 game 1. If you hope to mana drain something big, you can play lotus off of mana drain mana, play conscripts to untap it, then play kiki to win.
"Maybe i'm not forcing horrible storm for once in my life"
That's not what i'm here for though :d
At 1:00:00 I feel like the play was exiling conscripts with Wave, stealing Jace, Brainstorming looking for Balance which, considering the smokestack, would basically have reset the game. Probably still not a winning line, but it felt like his only option

"Someone's already typing a comment 'I stopped watching when...'" Brillaint!
Not sure if I agree with Shelldock over Bribery in this particular cube, but I'm sure LSV has significantly more experience with that.
LSV is the only one on CFB that doesn't analize the cube (badly), he FEELS it.
27:55 With the Consecrated Sphinx trigger on the stack LSV says "I'm at 19." I couldn't tell if he talking about number of cards in his library or his life total. For some reason I always think LSV is more concerned about decking than losing to running out of life.
"all right this Elspeth's already paying off..."
Rofellos would've been a spicy pick to follow up that Mana Drain ;)
love the cheons shout-out
I see LSV, I click. Simple.
A bit of a head-scratcher here, why didn't lsv just Resto his Frost Titan after his opponent played a bribery? Wouldn't he control his Frost Titans back after the flicker?
Resto can only target creatures you control. He did not control Frost Titan, so he can't target it with Resto.
Do you get to keep the cards from cube? I'm new to magic and MTGO so I have no idea.
Thanks for finishing the draft this time
LSV rekt by leovold, what a time to be alive.
personally I love big mana decks with evacuation😍
Should have cast Gideon at 51:00 in the second match and not Parallax wave. Then kill Battlesphere with it. That's one threat down, you a planeswalker up and parallax turn after.
All I want for Christmas is cuuuuuuube ! With LSV ofc ;)
Be me, watching Tom Martell cube drafting. See him P1P1 pass Channel. Furiously click the LSV cube draft in the sidebar.
Last Turn M1G2, if you had destroyed all lands he would have to return glen before combat and then frost giant kills them, they scooped early obviously, but you had the win in hand even without conscripts.
Is there a cube list for these or..?
Is the Taiga choice made better by the fact that we had Misty so our Blue duel fetched red too and we're red? Too bad you didn't go Blue White Cheons though. Unlucky :)
What is our opponent doing? Oh, just "Do nothing control" here : D
If Dack had stolen that boros signet in that last game..
You could ravages of war in m1g2 to force them to bring back a blocker and then tap it down on the titan attack.
I don't recognise this thumbnail art. What card is it?
I still wished someone would go big green. I would've picked rofellos pick 2 pack 1 and just go u/g. I feel that a card like gilded lotus is ok, but rofellos is clearly a better card and u/g opposition is great. I'd just force that deck every time. It's probably terrible, but to hell with that, it would be very fun.
This could've been an absurd stax deck.
Minastir1 we got crushed by Stax in one of our matches xD
why the hell wouldn't they dack the signet
Is there a cube draft where LSV doesn't go Blue? Genuinely curious so I can watch.
CreatedNameToComment blue is the best color in vintage cube
Not that I'm aware of. I mean it's understandable when you open Mana Drain. The only thing better than blue based control/storm etc is someone like mono red/red white burn, green ramp or BW reactive control. Honestly this type of Jeskai midrange is about as far out to sea as you will see him draft lol
I'd dig through CFB playlists and maybe you can find something there. Or just ask him. He's a fun guy and probably has drafted a few sweet ones.
CreatedNameToComment He went mono red when drafting with Gaby Spartz.
The coolest deck I ever saw him play in a cube was this reanimator/sneak attack deck. There was barely any blue except a bit for a show and tell.
how things have changed in 5 years
Not playing at least one board sweeper LSV... could've made that deck perfect.
1:10:00 resto the frost titan?
Haven't had success with UW Control in cube? I told someone today that it seems like going UW gives me two free wins every time. At 48:40 his opponent casts a fof but lsv has a fof in his deck what am I missing?
Spencer Bakerman cube league, so he's playing against people who may not have been in his pod.
LSV stipulation draft: not blue
1:20:00 lsv paying two life to not have to pay two life
deck is sweeeet
So like everyone agrees Shelldock is Cube Power 9
Connor Guarino if u can't activate its notvery good some decks can't get it activated quick enough
I didn't like it picked over Bribery
brokeness> situational brokeness
Yesssssssssssssss
I love cube, but so many blue decks drives me crazy. Maybe force mono red next time as it’s like the only non blue deck that’s good
Not enough cord dog.
When you open mana drain you play blue, I don't write the rules.
33:29 You could have tapped the demon, waited till combat, and flashed in angel, blinking specter to kill it since it is a token
Is there such a draft where LSV won’t draft blue?
Lee Begin I haven't seen one ever
Heresy
brown is greater than blue
Passing bribery????? SMFH
For a Shelldock with no big mana spells lmao
@39:28 me neither lsv...
I stopped watching at 10:00
#shitterblossom
U/W control isnt good, rip paul cheon
#freeCheon
woulda gone BG
Bribery > Shelldock Isle
Props to channel fireball for background checking there judges in the USA
Dude, same deck every time.
Watch his live stream. He plays intense vintage cube decks and games. Like mind blowing at times. Lots of humor, too. You're missing out if all you're watching is the CFB videos on UA-cam.
Because he's teaching how to draft on this channel. On his stream he does wacky stuff too.
Stopped watching when LSV got all meta.
Stopped watching when he said resto could save baneslayer from removal! Baneslayer obviously has protection from angels.
