Several of the Royal desktops are some of the fastest typers I've ever used. My personal favorite is the HH. It's touch is smooth and quick. Love it to death.
These are truly fine machines - wonderfully engineered. A man who was a former athlete and high school typing teacher achieved the world's record for typing speed (at the time) on a Royal FP. Thanks, Lucas! I'm sure this Royal is appreciated in it's new home!
How does a well tuned royal stack up against some of the German standards in speed typing? I’m in love with my HHE and curious to try an SG1 or such. Beautiful video as always
I recently got one of these machines with a 15" long platen (ledger typewriter?) for only $20. I still haven't fully cleaned it up, but it works well now except for the margin key not having enough spring force to pop back up. Did you ever have this problem on your machine? It's the first spring you see after popping out the right hand panel, also doubles as the spool auto-reverse spring for the right hand side. I was thinking about replacing it for a slightly stronger spring.
It's more likely something is just binding, rather than a weak spring. Make sure the key itself has enough room to move within the divider comb, and that everything is clean
@@TypewriterChicago While the machine is far from clean, the key itself moves fairly freely. There is a possibility that the cleanliness of the machine might be an issue, though.
Yes these kind of forgotten beasts are really very fine!
And you are a very fast type writer….. great job!
Thanks
Wow! Some serious speed!

Weird question, but how fast did you type?
Speedy speedy. Very cool.
My favorite standard is the KMM, always on my desk inches away and ready to go! I do have an FP I need to fix up, though.
WOW Hermosa máquina!!!

Welp, it was the dividing comb the whole time! Margin works wonderfully!
Now to figure out why the carriage stutters when I type fast.
The thing that killed Royal, was Litton Industries, Royals were only fast if they were set up properly, well done Lucas the set up sounds great
It is my specialty!
@@TypewriterChicago You're welcome, the machine sound like you have worked out the escapement trip setting
Wouldn't happen to have a video of how to remove the carriage on this would you?
I do indeed, check the Playlist on my channel!!
@@TypewriterChicago i searched before i asked but I'll search again. Guess i missed it
