Clint was so underrated throughout his career. You always felt like you had a chance with Dempsey on the pitch. He played so hard and he had the talent and charisma to back it up. 50 plus goals in the premier league for a club is big time. Maybe not the top but a damn good career.
@@willwrite3675 he finished top five in the premier league in scoring one year, he’s one of Fulhams all time leading scorers, and he’s the US men’s national team all time leading scorer. Must be crazy living in your world of delusion 😂😂😂
I would say he was the best player the US has ever had when you look at technically he was the first US born and raised to make it overseas. Like he didn't go to a academy in Europe or has one parent that is a US citizen. He came from college to MLS to Europe and the premier League and played alongside bale and modric. And he was a true dawg and poacher in front of goal.
I agree, he wasn’t like these other guys that are playing for the U.S. now, not hating on them at all. I’m just simply saying Dempsey was All American bred.
I was at the Spurs vs Man Utd game at White Hart Lane where Clint got a last minute equalizer. From this interview he sounds like a top man as well as a top footballer.
He scored a bloody chip vs Juventus props to my man Clint Dempsey COYW. He stayed outside Craven Cottage in 2011 when he signed my programme in his car, I remember that when I was outside CC Car Park He didn't have to do that. One of my best memories I swear down
Kate really kept her composure and followed up with a GREAT questions. Everyone else (including me) was struggling. Nice job to everyone there. Tough, but outstanding interview. Great job guys.
We didn't hear Henry's comments on playing angry but hearing Deuce agree with that in his own way makes a ton of sense and if you heard him talk about growing up playing with Latino men and how he learned to play through physical play and some dirty stuff that comes with it. Explains a lot about his attitude and aggressive play as well as how to play in that type of environment. So he got there a different way through experiences and loss. Dem Texas Boys!
A lot of people never talk about how anger makes your energy concentrated and incremented. If used correctly, it could be a powerful tool to use. It is sad that people demonize anger. It should be controlled and honed to our goals instead of demonized.
4 people, gone from peers, to colleagues, to friends, just having real conversation and letting the rest of us in on it. Thank you for that. I'm an Arsenal fan, I was a kid during the Bergkamp and Henry years, I came for to hear Henry talk, I stayed for the rest of these wonderful people.
As a Mexican American I never supported the USMNT and don't to this day but I always rooted for these guys to have success in their careers. It was a pleasure to watch Clint in the Prem. Delivered some good years.
I lost my sister last year and when you're close to someone like that (as Clint obviously was to his sibling), it's hard to communicate the magnitude of losing that person to those who haven't been in that position themselves. And speaking from experience, you really hope that they never do have to deal with it, as it has a seriously profound effect on you that you can never get over and you just learn to cope with. But it does make you appreciate things and see the world in a different light. Respect to Clint for opening up in front of the cameras. I'm not sure I could show myself to be so vulnerable to the world like he did.
Omgsh Kate. She’s probably one of the best presenters out there and a great journalist. We first witnessed her doing boxing and she knows her stuff. But this was well done. Thanks Clint for opening up. Was a such a great player!
Big respect to Deuce and props to Thiery for validating him. Love CD9 too...Warriors, smart role models, and great men. I will always remember the great things you all have done on the pitch on off of it. Cheers
Respect to this man he really dedicates this sport to the people who matter the most to him, and this is why he was special in the game and in the conversation as the greatest USMNT player of all time. God bless you, Clint. What a player.
When I lost my boyfriend 4 years ago, I was so angry. I was angry all the time. But it made me do things I would have never done before. I can totally relate. Forgiving myself as well. Thank you for that.

I ain’t American or a USMNT fan at all but Clint Dempsey is my fave of any player that has ever played for the US. So much grit and determination along with a bunch of ferocity. Also he’s a Texas boy. Reminds me of a couple kids I grew up with super cool and nice but strong and determined when it came to competing.
Ive lost someone very, very dear to me this year. This really helped me out. I know he will never see this, but i really want to thank Clint for opening up about this. Even if it was for him, thank you.
Kate abdo is one of if not the greatest sports journalist.. she's funny but knows when and right time to ask questions, and she's vulnerable at the same time... I'm a boxing nut and we miss her in boxing.. come back Kate 😂😂, but with all do seriousness this interview had and still has me in tears.. rest easy Clints sister, ur brother sure did come through for u, ur family and USA...
Clint is the great USMNT. Period. But this clip makes him one of the greatest players to play the game. Greatness is not just Messi level skill - it’s also character. Henry why players like Gennaro Gattuso and Simone Kjaer will be remembered forever.
Must have been so hard for clint to live with this and also open up about it during this interview. Kate and thierry come across great in it too, both showing they can do a more serious interview as opposed to joking around in the studio
Do you speak French? If you do, try to watch interviews with Henry (some interviews have english subs if you don't). Because in those he is often so insightful. I don't agree with him all the time, but it doesn't matter at all. This man is so smart. It's a pure joy for the brain to listen to him. Pretty incredible human being.
We have a lot of love for these players but we only know them from the pitch. I appreciate when they open up and give us a little more insight into who they are, and what motivated them. And I love that he loved her so much.
One of my favourite players for sure always think of good things on the pitch and the attitude when it comes to CD. He was that guy you want on your team to ignite something out of nothing and he didn’t let anyone intimidate him
Came across this clip and have to say, i love the team that CBS sports. Im a Liverpool fan and back in the day Clint Dempsey was Fulham. I dont know how they see him but he should be remembered as a club legend. Criminally underrated. I remember a time when Nike was pushing Freddy Adu as the next Pele lol, but you had Landon Donavan and Clint Dempsey who were humble and in the trenches getting it. Mad respect for him opening up like that.
@Client always loved your swag and chip on your shoulder man. I remember being excited to see what you did on the pitch whenever Fulham had a game back in the day. Thanks for sharing about your past bro
THATS WHY THE PRIMER LEAGUE IS SO SPECIAL DUE TO PEOPLES STORIES AND LOT OF PEOPLE CAN LEARN FROM THESE ATHLETES DUE TO THEIR OWN LIVES AND IT HOW STRONG THEY ARE EVEN THIER STRUGGLES ARE REAL AND NO MONEY CANNOT BUY THEIR LIVES ❤️
It's a shame we don't have Dempsey anymore for the US team, you always felt like with him on the pitch and other players like Altidore that you could do something, even if they weren't in form or good.
I traveled to Craven Cottage to watch Fulham play in 2019. I got asked by Fulham supporters. How did a American become a Fulham supporter? "Clint Dempsey" Fulham and Premier Leauge know his name. God bless him. GOAT for USMNT.
I ain't no Mr Dempsey but I lost my big brother and when you see a grown man playing with his beard too much when asked a question! It's really rough and real loss .. I still can't talk about my big brother without breaking down... U a real one clint Dempsey
Felt like TT was in an awkward position, in my opinion. And what on earth is PD on about with the undervaluation of his achievements?! He's a legend of the game in the US, and he inspired thousands to love the game of football.
I find it fascinating that Clint feels like he probably left something still on the table, in terms of not having top level coaching, which is the problem in a budding soccer culture like her win the US
Argu with my mom on a Friday and just hung up....... the day after I turned the machine off (she got a huge stroke Friday evening) still to this day I regret my choice .......... this was 2012
As a Mexican fan I always never completely liked any of the usmnt players. But I can’t lie him and Donovan where very good. I think Clint is the Yankee-Cuahtecmoc Blanco😅
Clint got it out the mud and didn't have a ton of money to make it like most American players do, and he is still the best, most consistent player the USA ever had for a male player. It's a shame that colleges and youth teams aren't looking in rural and low income areas to recruit its players more often. Maria, Sanchez, the highest paid NWSL right now player never spent a second in an academy either. Hopefully 2026 really unleashes a way of change so that diamonds in the rough like Clint and Maria Sanchez.

Interesting to see when men try to maintain a hard exterior and then you see Henry look away from Clint because he knows he's going to cry.
Why is Kate speaking in an American accent?
Good question
Cause it's fun
Cause she's so fake. She also pretended to cry
She amps up the RP British accent for television. What you are hearing is her real voice.
