Clint was so underrated throughout his career. You always felt like you had a chance with Dempsey on the pitch. He played so hard and he had the talent and charisma to back it up. 50 plus goals in the premier league for a club is big time. Maybe not the top but a damn good career.

I would say he was the best player the US has ever had when you look at technically he was the first US born and raised to make it overseas. Like he didn't go to a academy in Europe or has one parent that is a US citizen. He came from college to MLS to Europe and the premier League and played alongside bale and modric. And he was a true dawg and poacher in front of goal.

We didn't hear Henry's comments on playing angry but hearing Deuce agree with that in his own way makes a ton of sense and if you heard him talk about growing up playing with Latino men and how he learned to play through physical play and some dirty stuff that comes with it. Explains a lot about his attitude and aggressive play as well as how to play in that type of environment. So he got there a different way through experiences and loss. Dem Texas Boys!

A lot of people never talk about how anger makes your energy concentrated and incremented. If used correctly, it could be a powerful tool to use. It is sad that people demonize anger. It should be controlled and honed to our goals instead of demonized.

I lost my sister last year and when you're close to someone like that (as Clint obviously was to his sibling), it's hard to communicate the magnitude of losing that person to those who haven't been in that position themselves. And speaking from experience, you really hope that they never do have to deal with it, as it has a seriously profound effect on you that you can never get over and you just learn to cope with. But it does make you appreciate things and see the world in a different light. Respect to Clint for opening up in front of the cameras. I'm not sure I could show myself to be so vulnerable to the world like he did.

Clint got it out the mud and didn't have a ton of money to make it like most American players do, and he is still the best, most consistent player the USA ever had for a male player. It's a shame that colleges and youth teams aren't looking in rural and low income areas to recruit its players more often. Maria, Sanchez, the highest paid NWSL right now player never spent a second in an academy either. Hopefully 2026 really unleashes a way of change so that diamonds in the rough like Clint and Maria Sanchez.
