- Today, on the official channel of the Odessa Film Studio (@OdesaFilmStudio), viewers are presented with an excellent film that captivates with stunning music, an original plot and wonderful acting. One of the main tasks that the author has set for himself is to convey to the public the beauty of Ukrainian culture, to show the love of the Cossacks and ordinary people for their homeland. The author managed to bring all his plans to life on stage, and that is why the opera fell in love with the audience more than a hundred years ago and today is popular not only in Ukraine, but also in distant foreign countries. “Cossack beyond the Danube” is a Ukrainian Soviet feature film produced in 1953 by the A. Dovzhenko film studio. Based on the opera “Cossack beyond the Danube” by Semyon Stepanovich Gulak-Artemovsky, written in 1863. The film was shot in a theatrical setting. The premiere of the film took place on July 19, 1953 in Kyiv, and on July 21 in Moscow.
In 1775, after the destruction of the Zaporozhye Sich by the Russian Empire, part of the Cossacks, in search of “free lands”, under the influence of the Cossack elders, moved across the Danube and fell under the rule of the Sultan’s Turkey. The Cossacks began to fight as part of the Turkish army against their offenders - the Russian Empire.
In turn, the Turkish Sultan decided to find out the intentions of the Cossacks. In the end, thanks to the wit and cunning of Ivan Karas, the Cossacks obtained from the Sultan a firman to return to Ukraine.

Such tapes cannot be called passing - you want to return to them repeatedly.

Смотрел этот чудный фильм пацаном в 1958 году по только что начавшемуся работать телевидению в Куйбышеве. И сейчас просмотрел с огромным удовольствием!
Я тоже смотрела этот фильм в 1958году по телеку который купили только что мне было 12лет но он меня так впечатлел что я все запомнила на всю жизнь. И когда бывает возможность ещё раз что то пересмотреть делаю это с удовольствием. Почему такие вещи не восстанавливают для нового показа это ведь бессмертный шедевр.
