The 'Old Mill' by Grimshaw is perhaps my favorite painting ever. Saw this in Leeds art gallery and it's simply stunning close up with fine work, atmosphere and detail.
The 1880's was a magical time to capture in art. It's difficult to capture the esthetics of Grimshaw today with our harsh unnatural modern electric lights everywhere.
Love Grimshaw's Work...Saw one of the dock front ones as a young child at a London Museum/Exhibition with a carriage with an emerald jewel of a light shining out of the golden dusk.. I had a postcard of it. Would love the real thing!
