This song sounds…like a rainforest with a giant black snake that slowly kills all the animals and rules the rainforest as the king. Speaking of snake, the song Black Mambo is also a good representation of a snake who rules/ruled the world.
The literal word wyrd, is a concept in Anglo-Saxon culture roughly corresponding to fate or personal destiny, which is quite fitting when learning about the track’s meaning. This one is definitely one of the more literal ones on the album. Our narrator is fate himself, and the subject is a vole, a small rodent similar to a mouse. Fate is taunting the vole, saying that even though the vole is trying to control fate, fate will fight back harder. The vole falls down a hole, and fate made him sell his rope, the thing that would have saved him from the situation, for a bucket, which is now useless. The thing that makes it even worse is that if the vole still had the rope but also had the bucket, there was gold down in the cave he would be rich from. Instead, the vole is left to die in the cave crying out to fate trying to get him to stay. hope this helped
I love how everyone just makes it slower and adds reverb to the song and is like “perfect👌”
