@@Yumums I watched it but I am not sure I would say great, the writing is not good anyway. Unless the viewer is just someone who knows nothing about the government military or alphabet agencies there is a lot in the series that just makes no sense.
Kurt, the rifle from the first battle scene is the Barrett MRAD, comes in 338, 300wm, and good ole 308. Pretty sure it got approved by Socom few years ago.
The Aussies use a bolt action version of the Barrett 50, and the film was shot in Australia, so it could be loaned from the Aussies.@@griffwoodford1115
Btw in the Army our drone operators (not pilots) are enlisted. Air Force I believe is the same, but an Officer (pilot) is the payload operator who lases and shoots. Their reapers are actually flown while our gray eagles are just automated. Also I've only had one operator conscientious objector in three deployments.
First thing I noticed. USAF personnel wearing Army rank, flag on the wrong side. Russel Crowe wearing a Hawaiian shirt with captain rank sewn on.... 🙄 Sending a guy who never HALO'd on a combat HALO jump....
I may have slightly old info. I was an ALO, running a TACP with 2nd BDE 101 in Desert Storm. TACPs did calls for fire and CAS. CCT was a different career field and command primarily responsible for setting up air lift operations, bringing in air lift and setting up landing and drop zones. We had TACP’s in the 75th Ranger Regiment for example. Now JTAC is a specialty, calling in air. Both TACP and CCT can go to 24th STS. Para Rescuemen, PJs are another career field, and they can all be trained in 24th STS to do all the missions. So ya, in 82nd or 101st or 10th you’ll have a conventional, TACP with JTACS, and a CCT may be called for certain operations. But ya that is separate from the 24th guys who generally deploy with JSOC tasking. And the rolls, jobs, nomenclature overlap to where they are pretty much just “CCT.”
We had a TACP assigned to us in 10th SFG that went on resupply convoys from the FOB to the Team Houses. Those convoys always had air support from the DAPS in 160th. Our TACP had a great mustache and had cooler toys than we did.
This review had me spitting out my coffee, it was so f'n funny 🤣🤣 I saw this movie this past weekend and was thinking about you guys reviewing it the whole time I watched the movie !! Well worth anticipating your review !!
That is the new issued sniper rifle that most all units are going to, and is the standard issue for all Army B4 Snipers. Barrett MK22, that has 3 interchangeable barrels in 7.62, .300 Norma and .338 Norma. But if you want to pick on something, they mounted a very old Leupold MK4 to it, instead of the correct MK5HD scope. "Welcome to the future..."
Having their faces covered subconsciously dehumanizes the bad guy and helps the audience not have to grapple with the moral quandary of people being killed
I notice it in recent series when they had people fighting Nazis and they all had masks on with not a swastika in sight. It's like it's easy to call people Nazis, but seeing that they're actually people being killed and following an abhorrent ideology makes people uncomfortable.
There's a SOF TACP unit, the 17th STS. They primarily support the 75th Ranger Regiment. Their are also TACPs assigned to other units, including the 724th STG.
Yes, 17th STS or 17th ASOS(old name) even supports Ranger RRC, which is SMU. I guess people consider Ranger as "Regular Army" for a long time. But generally, TACPs work with the regular army. CCTs work with Rangers though.
Another. I’m here in Riverside CA. There is/was a USAF Reserve Predator unit here at March ARB. One day 10 years ago or so, I was at the Starbucks, and there were two captains talking about their upcoming combat missions that afternoon, from CA! Was a bit odd 😂
Ret AF TACP JTAC, we have guys who are Tier 1 operators only a few from what I understand. Most support normal army units. We have normal TACPs who are Halo. In fact my friend was an Instructor at HALO school and was killed in an accident there. Movie was ok, Of course I was yelling "how do you know they are dead go check"! do not see that happening. As a TACP I was in the right place right time and ended up working with 5th Group, great guys. One of the great things about TACP was you got to do many different things, many different levels. All different kinds of schools. CCT and PJs tend to do the same stuff same levels.
There are TACPS's in the tier 1 group STS. There is a selection process for STS. You should have known that if you were in? It's called being an actual "SOF TACP." Otherwise you're conventional, like most TACP's.
Note to self: Never ask somebody for a sip of his ''sweet tea'' Man you had me almost piss my pants with that story 😂😂😂 Once again a great episode dudes! 💪
Abel is such a good wingman, Sean's going on about the gunship firing to Abel, and Abels nodding along like he hasn't experienced the same exact thing.
I may be wrong but I think there's also a way for Tacp's to directly support ranger regiment exclusively/ become a "sof tacp", I remember the ones ready guys talking about that when I thought I wanted to pursue the airforce prior to landing an 18x
Me too but they might have run out of nasty MREs to try. Andy never ate anything. My theory is Abel has avoided doing more episodes in hopes that Power Bottom Actual will fade from memory 😂
How would you prepare mentally and what state of mind would one put themselves in to go into the final phase of SERE C? Not trying to skirt the NDA about SERE C, but think it’s ok to talk about mindset to go into that course with.
The dip spit was always my biggest fear, that I would drink my own so I would always mark the shit out of the bottle with a sharpie and tear any labels off, or if it was a can I'd semi crush it so I'd know. Now I use Siberia pouches so you don't hardly have to spit, but buck my man, you loved through something I was anxious of for years 😂
I have a question. Assuming you tried to open your parachute at the correct altitude and wind up in a tangled riser scenario, how much time do you have to fix the problem? Is the problem even fixable? Also, where does the expression "cake eater" come from and what exactly does it mean?
Not only the badge is the wrong person, if you look, the rank she's wearing is an Army Staff Sgt E6, not an Air Force rank badge. On top of that, the Team Leader is listed as a Master Sgt E-8 in the credits, but the two other Delta Operators are listed as Sgt E-5. There's no way any guy in Delta is going to be an E-5. Those two guys would be at least E-7. Also, the JTAC is listed as an Air Force "Sgt." The Air Force jumps straight from Snr Airman (E-4), to Staff Sgt, which is E-5. They don't have the rank of "Sgt". Lots of technical stuff is wrong with the film. It was shot in Australia, so probably they had Aussie Army advisers who wouldn't be up with the US ranks beyond the basics.
Well, damn...gonna try fukn barbell! Had a SF medic as cell mate in prison. He was easy going. I was a badass in those days, but when we went to playing, his take down surprised the fk outta me! Still Love the bastard.
Just FYI, most digital cameras can see in infrared, even a simple cellphone camera can see IR lights and strobes, especially at night or in the dark, that's how most cheap security camera systems do their night vision, instead of using true night vision or thermals!
Fun fact, you can blind a security camera by pointing a IR remote at it lol I've seen some guy put a whole bunch of ir LEDs around his hoodie and the sec camera couldn't see sht
Great review as always guys, watching from Ireland 🇮🇪. Not sure if you've done Saviour (Denis Quaid) or Ronin (Robert DeNiro)? Great movies, be cool to hear your take. Keep it up
i agree the first shooting scene is dope and i think i should add they were forced to shoot in not such an advantageous position. They got their asses handed back to them and they probably knew it would be like that but still made the call to stop the massacre they were just witnessing. I really like that scene, for it shows just how bad things can go with no fault from you whatsoever. Still, a shitty tactical situation will not stop being a shitty tactical situation.
Second angle is good! Use sparingly though. When Sean rants or you have to make cuts in your edit. Everything is looking good!! And still feels authentic and “unplugged” but with good production quality. Sound is good too.
I think the setting for this movie was in the Philippines, not sure havent watched it. Yeah we still use some Vietnam era tech, supposedly Hueys were replaced by Blackhawks, but they might still have them old rotary assets in use.
"They found Steve Aoki" - straight up spit out my coffee laughing.
The first or second Jack Ryan season had a small side story about a drone pilot who takes out people by day and stresses over it after hours at home

Barrett MRAD, probably .338

bro hes been fat in every film since 2008
He wasn't fat in Man Of Steel.
He should workout to get in shape
have you seen him winter's tale?

Air force RPA pilots are officers, sensor operators are enlisted
The other thing I noticed with the SSgt UAV pilot is that she has Army rank and flag patch but with Air Force name tape. Lol
good spot
