You two should watch Airheads. Early Sandler, with Brendan Frasier and Steve Buscemi as metal rockers who take a radio station hostage as they try to get someone to listen to their demo tape.
Great movie. Has Casey seen 50 dates ? it is also a great movie. You should also watch There is something about Mary with Ben Steller and Camren Diaz. I can not wait for Rocky 4 reaction on You Tube.
That fight with Bob Barker won the MTV Movie Award for Best Fight Scene. RIP Bob Barker’s career of hosting game shows 1956-2007 what a legendary host he was
@@markwilliams6394 My mom was a waitress back in the 70s in Tucson and she said Trevino used to go there when he was in town and said he was always a class act as well. Super nice guy.
I was 13 when this movie came out and it got me and my 11 year old brother interested in golf. My neighbor was a avid golfer in his 60s who went golfing every week. He had never seen the movie but overheard us talking about the movie and our interest in golf so he offered to take us with him to his Country Club and teach us how to play. That's not what happened. Instead we just ran up to every tee and Happy Gilmore'd it. After he took us home he told us that he was never taking us golfing again.
Bob Barker (RIP) beating the shit out of Adam Sandler is still one of funniest things I’ve ever seen. Especially when Happy says “The price is wrong bitch” and Bob rises up like he’s the Undertaker and absolutely destroys Happy!🤣🤣
I heard the script had it ending their butt Barker said he wouldn't do it unless they had him win the fight so they rewrote that bit. Honestly, it was a good call because it was much funnier with him winning
It's a shame Jared Fogle threw his life down the toilet, if HG2 was made Happy and Jared would play for team subway and Barker kicks both their asses at the same time
My dad took my brother and I to see this in the theater. Today, the three of us and my nephew are all golfers and this movie gets quoted pretty much every time we play. 😁
This is my favorite Adam Sandler movie ever! I remember when I was little and my Mom and I watched it together for the first time, it really is a hole in one just like y’all said😊
Joe Flahertys line deliveries are so funny. There's an episode of Married with Children that he's in that just cracks me up every time I see it. He plays Dr. Plierson, a dentist who is about to do some dental work on Al. Al is nervous about having a dentist drilling in his mouth and Plierson is super nice to him telling him he has nothing to worry about. While Al is in the chair waiting on the anesthesia to kick in Dr. Plierson gets a call from his wifes divorce lawyer who tells him that the wife wants his baseball card collection just to spite him. He gets mad and slams down the phone and walks back over to Al in the chair and says "Ooh! I love those cards! I spent my whole life collecting those cards!" to which Al replies " Hey Doc, I think the novacaine is starting wear to off a little bit." and then Plierson snaps at Al and says "Shut up, Bundy! Just shut up! Oh, I'm so mad, I'm shaking!" and then picks up the drill pins Als head down and starts drilling angrily. The jackass scene in this movie always makes me think poor Al in that dentist chair. Joe Flaherty is such an underrated comic genius.
Absolute classic comedy. Loved this growing up, still makes me laugh. The scene where he's singing when the night closes in through the intercom cracks me up.
The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates would both be awesome for double dose of Adam Sandler and Drew Berrymore. Also 2 of his better movies in my opinion
Oh.. She will LOVE The Wedding Singer!! I really hope you show her that one!! Hilarious and sweet love story! Adam and Drew are PERFECT together!! Speaking of Adam And Drew together.. She would also love "50 First Dates" as well (If she hasn't seen)
I was right in the middle of watching this when I heard Carl Weathers had passed. RIP Mr. Weathers, you were great opponent to rocky, a great adversary to the Predator, and a great coach to Happy Gilmore.
I say yes to the movies you mentioned and add Little Nicky for the special Happy Gilmore character cameo late in the movie. Also fun fact: Richard Kiel, Mr. Larson, was in a bad accident years before filming and couldn't stand, or walk, without assistance. This is why you never see him fully in frame moving around. The only shot where hes fully shown 31:59 he's holding onto people to stabilize himself.
fun fact the guy who always pops up when something happens ie the guy who said grizzly adams did have a beard is lee trevino. hes a 6 time major winner, has 92 career wins and is a member of a the world golf hall of fame
I am not the biggest Adam Sandler fan, by a long shot. “Happy” is one role I can tolerate him in, so was happy to watch a wonderful couple react. But my only Adam Sandler film I *really* love, and it never gets mentioned, is 50 First Dates. Bet Kacee would love it if she’s not already seen it. Anyway, thanks for sharing this reaction.
Great comedy film for sure! Keep going with your content, Dos Cavazos! Oh, and the guy in the olive green shirt, is Will Sassso! Who was a cast member on one of the greatest sketch comedy shows of all time, MadTV!
One thing I didn’t really think about with this movie is during the golf tour the homeless guy had to travel to different cities with Happy to be his caddy. They thought about getting licensing from the main golf groups but declined when they thought none of them would approve the script. 13:00 apparently there’s a version of this movie where Happy goes back to the home after learning what he was doing to his grandma and the others and throws Ben Stiller’s character out the window 22:27 Bob Barker agreed to this movie when he saw in the script he won the fight. He learned Tang Soo Do from Chuck & Aaron Norris and when he learned they had a stunt double he was like wait a minute I know how to fight. They had Adam Sandler go on an episode of the Price is Right to promote this movie and after this movie was released in theaters Price is Right viewership among college age rose significantly. 28:01 that guy is legendary golfer Lee Trevino. He didn’t read the script prior to agreeing to it and said he would’ve passed had he seen all the salty (as he puts it) language in the movie. Ed McMahon was supposed to be in the film and fight Happy but he did turn the role down when he saw the language in it so they went to Bob Barker. Would love to see you guys do the other Adam Sandler films. Especially The Waterboy and the Wedding Singer.
Fun fact, they said that originally they were going to use a stand-in for Bob and his fight with Sandler. But he told the producers he attends one of Chuck Norris fighting classes. "I know how to fight. I train with Chuck Norris." They then changed it(Adam's idea himself)to where not only Bob would fight in the scene, he would win(the fight originally had Happy winning supposedly, but he would be not only kicked off, but known for "beating up an old man" afterwards)
Loved this movie since my early 20's. After transitioning from landscaping to a "professional" corporate career, I somehow didn't understand why Happy's language & antics weren't acceptable in an office setting. Miraculously, I made it almost 26 years before retiring.
Happy Gilmore is unironically my favourite film of all time. Sure, it's not the worlds best story, it doesn't have the best acting or direction... But it just brings me so much joy every single time I watch it.
I was an extra in this movie. Spent days in a Vancouver botanical gardens that was turned into the final tournament. The stunt people kept getting hurt and they had to delay shooting till another and yet another ambulance got back onto the set. The scaffolding falling after the VW bug hit it injured 3 stuntpeople on consecutive shots. Snuck thru security and smoked a joint with Adam and his bodyguard. Then he grabbed my girlfriends ass when getting pics taken with him. Subway for lunch and dinner got OLD very fast too lol. Black and white checkered shirt right behind the big guy who tells Happy to go for the gold jacket is me.
Fun Fact: Bob Barker actually trained with Chuck Norris and got a black belt in Karate. And he agreed to do the fight scene in Happy Gilmore provided that he got to do the stunts himself and that he won the fight. Also personally, that part where Chubbs is playing the piano always made me cry as a kid and to this day. And now it hits even harder now that Carl Weathers is gone. And lastly the guy who confirmed that Grizzly Adams did have a beard, is an actual professional golfer by the name of Lee Trevino.
I graduated high school in 1995 and that was the era of the Sand Man. Adam on SNL,his comedy tapes/CD’s “they’re all going to laugh at you “and “What the hell happened to me “ along with his awesome movies was a great era. This movie cements the fact that subway used to do the "U" cut on their subs back in the 90's. Feels like a fever dream now, but back then it's what you got.
Billy Madison, Wedding Singer, Waterboy, Big Daddy, Fifty First Dates, and actually a lot of his dramatic performances are excellent like Punch Drunk Love and Uncut Gems. The last two are under appreciated.
Great reaction as always! Please consider reacting to The Wedding Singer, Mr. Deeds, The Longest Yard, Anger Management, Click, and Little Nicky, please!
Here's a cool story that just happened in 2023. A kid on the bird app with the legal name Happy Gilmore just announced that he is going to play golf at Ball State. Both Adam Sandler and Shooter quote-tweeted it and Sandler wished him good luck. He also said in his post that yes, he can do the Happy Gilmore shot.
