I love your content around being an SLPA and also the mommy life. I'm a stay at home mommy considering going for my SLPA, and you're convincing me more its the right fit. Thank you for that! :)
I am a SLPA in home health here in Houston Texas, I have been debating on making the switch and going into the schools... Thank you so much for your videos. You are definitely helping me in making a decision ☺️
Are you interested in getting your masters to become an SLP? Also, would you say the pay is fair for what you do? I was an SLP-A for a little after college and transitioned out of it for a few months. I'm looking to get back into it to work at an elementary school, but pay/workload is a huge factor.
I am currently not interested in becoming an SLP. I enjoy the flexibility of being an SLPA and leaving a lot of the paperwork and assessment aspect to the SLP. I enjoy the direct therapy. I would say the pay is fair, yes! I think it’s important to advocate for yourself if/when you need help or the caseload is too much. It’s taken a couple of years, but I now have an additional SLPA to help with the speech caseload.
Do you mean any school recommendations? There’s options as far as getting a bachelors degree or getting the coursework done in 2 years, but I don’t know a lot about the 2 year track.
@@KarinaKurlz when I looked it up, it shows 3 different routes to getting the certificate. One that I was thinking about is the one where you already have a bachelors (in anything), but you can take some specific speech classes like 24 hours or something. I wasn’t sure if you knew anything about that.
Thanks so much for the info, I'm looking to start school for SPLA next year. I'm excited about entering the field, but I know that it's not easy to get an SPLA job in all states. Which state are you based in, have you ever had any problems finding a job? Also, is telemedicine an option for SPLAs?
Hi! I have my license to work as an SLP-assistant in Texas and I did have trouble finding a job when I first graduated. I was trying to land a job while I was still in the process of submitting paperwork to get an official license, so I believe that’s why it was difficult. Tele-therapy was an option for SLPAs during the pandemic after a bill was passed in Texas, and I believe it is still available. However, I don’t think companies hire SLPAs strictly for tele-therapy. It may be in addition to in-person sessions.

Hey I’m graduating from college soon and I didn’t get into a grad school so I’m wanting to do some SLPA work. This is what I’m curious about
Love this
Thank you!
I graduated too but I’m not 100% on what I should know in terms of assessments before applying for jobs I have my license
I personally don’t know much about assessments because the SLP is the one to administer the tests, evaluations, and writes reports!
Do you have any recommendations for getting your slpa (I have an AS and a BA)?

Can speech pathologist assistant work in physical therapy clinics?
Hi! I’m actually not sure if an SLPA can work in a physical therapy clinic. I don’t see why not!
Are jobs hard to find in Africa?
I don’t know I’ve never looked into that!

nice
Was the process hard to apply to a school district?
It wasn’t hard actually! There was 2 rounds to the interview process, but I believe my first job was harder as an SLPA.
