In this video, we journey into the independent Republic of Užupis-Vilnius' quirky, self-declared “republic” known for its unique art, lively culture, and offbeat charm. Inspired by everything we’d heard about Užupis, we set out to explore its streets, starting with a look at the Užupis Constitution and diving into the republic’s playful spirit.
After taking in the vibrant street life, we stopped by a local bar, where we enjoyed a beer and met some of Užupis' residents while taking in stunning views of a nearby church and the river.
Our next stop was the Užupis Art Incubator, where we explored local artwork and visited a gallery specializing in the art of ballet performance-a truly unique way to experience Užupis' creative soul. We also made a stop at Tibet Square, discovering quirky statues, art installations, and landmarks that add to Užupis' surreal, independent vibe.
With its own border crossing, mini "army," and fascinating history (it was founded on April 1st, 1997!), Užupis is like no other place we’ve visited.
