I live in Spain and have followed Paco,s career almost since he started and had the pleasure of seeing him live. Of course his death was a big tragedy because no one will fill his place. Grisha does a good job in this Buleria which has lots of merit. As a guitarist myself i dont understand the dislikes. Either is out of envy or not understanding what music is about. Good job Grisha!
+Fernando Osorio pure jealousy!
I'm a classical guitarist, and flamenco just blows me away. These folks are so technically sound both right and left hands. And it is just plain fun music to listen too.
When Paco died I was afraid that there wouldn't be any Flamenco gods out there anymore... When I discovered Grisha I was relieved & knew Paco has a worthy "successor" :)
Gracias Grisha
I thought a lot about why people complain or dislike Grishas playing.. .. so far I don't agree with them. I have been listening to Pacos playing and lots of other players in the past and I find my answer to those dislikes, when I am listening to the old collaborations of Camaron de La Isla and Paco. I think the spirit and heat of the traditional songs and of the voice of Camaron himself are shining a lot through Pacos (especially older) compositions.. for example when I listen the falsetta at 1:36 .. I will always hear Camaron singing. For those who are worrying now about the "duende" in his playing: I feel that Grisha plays on many diverse levels.. which you can experience when you listen very closely: He treats the music with a lot of sensitivity, kindness, humor, purity and classical taste. For me that reveilles a completely new flavor to flamenco and I have to admit that for those characteristics I prefer Grishas 'Monasterio del Sal' even over Paco. I am looking forward to that day when we'll see Mr. Goryachevs own compositions and collaborations (on youtube). I am sure he'll blow our minds far away.
I think it's just people's minds getting in the way, knowing that he's Russian and not from Andalucia. And he doesn't have the same self-assured coolness factor as Paco or Tomatito. Spaniards just have a different energy. That Grisha didn't let that deter him is all the more impressive. He may not be a gypsy, but as a flamenco player he is the real deal.
We just saw Grisha perform live for the first time and were amazed. I also got to attend a master class and realized that he is also a very gracious and amazing teacher!
Grisha is one of my faves on flamenco. I was going to change my way of playing to be more Paco-esc, until I heard and saw Grisha's command and articulations from the more traditional form. Fantastic! Thanks KUT Austin.
Grisha's biography has several political currents running through it, any one of which could conceivably produce a concerted effort by partisans to attack him on social media. That is what is most plausible, unless he has a hell of a lot of angry ex-girlfriends.
Grisha's guitar work has fascinated and impressed me for years. My favorite recording of his is one a friend of mine made of his senior recital at the New England Conservatory. This Buleria is one of the songs on that recording. He plays so fast, so clean, so passionately. Awesome!! Update: Hearing this on GOOD earphones stuns me--the perfect note separation on impossibly fast runs, a touch that creates shimmers and soundscapes too beautiful to clearly remember. Grisha has blown me away once again.
This guy is not real . Thank you you tube you give to us opportunity for watch almost unreal things :) I remember very old video of Grisha with a woman, playing guitar . It was insane also lol :) Wow :) Gratz :)
Ease, beauty, perfection, depth, inspiration .. a firework of art making the guitar the most impressive string instrument and placing this young master in the heaven of GREATEST players. BARVO! OLEEE!
Just fantastic! Like Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli or Paco de Lucia: no show, just Art in its highest level, zenit. All the very best, take care and be blessed, Grisha. From Finland, Pertti Rasilainen.
He's not in compas. Still doesn't deserve so many dislikes but a flamenco guitarist won't like it without a strict compas like how Paco played it. To a flamenco guitarist it sounds like a classical guitarist playing Flamenco and when he plays classical it sounds like a Flamenco guitarist playing classical. He's cursed because he is jack of both master of neither. Having said that, I think he is very impressive, but that is why this video has so many dislikes.
Christian Moreno Compas is more than merely the rhythm. It's the rhythm within a strict pulse with specific accents - To play in compass is more similar to to the english word "groove," than rhythm. I guess at some level it's just preference. Grisha got so good that he is now compared to the masters and that is why there are so many dislikes. Good for him, I say! Personally, I like it!
I heard Grisha perform numerous flamenco pieces this evening in Cleveland. There is an energetic side for playing good flamenco music. He displayed that energy and a good command of the instrument. Nothing could be better as far as I know now. He spoke with me and other members of the audience at a reception. On display were perfection and nearly flawless playing from all angles. Flamenco program with much music by Paco di Lucia. He might have had more to say about the music in addition to telling us the title and composer's name. He gave an encore number by Lucia and gave me its name upon my request. Relations with an engaged audience were good. Dedicated fans for sure were in the audience. This was not stan-dard classical guitar music. Audience members knew what they were going to hear. No disappointments at all. This is a superior artist from Boston Conservatory of Music where he has completed a doctorate. During the reception we spoke about Narciso Yepes and the string guitar and Carlos Montoya. Excellent concert. Well worth your time to listen on U tube for sure but purchase his recordings especially the later ones. I believe he is looking for faculty position at a college or university.
I think you are the only one who COULD play the pieces of famous guitarists just like them!I love you dude!

So many dislikes......caused, I suspect, by huge numbers of envious Spanish flamenco players, who are being completely outclassed by a foreign player. This man is a great virtuoso...so fucking well LIVE WITH IT!
A qué vienen esos comentarios ?
¡¡¡Bravo!!!
Grisha, you truly are a super amazing artist with extraordinary musicality, and an inspiration for anyone who hears you play. Disregard anyone who tells you different. I hope to bring you back to Pittsburgh sometime. Everyone unanimously and thoroughly enjoyed the performances you gave us
Well, I guess Spanish people must be proud instead of envying.. This is an evidence that Flamenco has become much more international.. I bet now.. Grisha can beat many great Spanish Flamenco guitarist.. It's just like in judo ... decades ago all champions were japanese masters. Now a days .. superb non japanese judokas can beat even the so called japanese master judokas. God bless you Grisha👍👍👍👍 !!!

What the hell is with the dislikes?
Grisha's biography has several political currents running through it, any one of which could conceivably produce a concerted effort by partisans to attack him on social media.
That is what is most plausible, unless he has a hell of a lot of angry ex-girlfriends.

All of his ex-girlfriends are all still jealous that he picked the guitar over them. "Its ME or its the guitar!"
Sean H The guitar always wins :)
good, so the dislikes are irrellevant!
Who cares! He knows he THAT good! 💯💯💯
Super-Man. One of the UNTOUCHABLES. The dislikes are Krytonite lovers.
Thank you for posting, very good performance.

The people who are saying this guy is playing out of compas probably have trouble tying their own shoelaces.
Why so many posts dealing with dislikes? What's the big deal with dislikes?
Just ignore them and listen to this marvellous music.
Dazzling Right Hand.
Jaw dropping to watch.
It is called alzapua, and is performed by the thumb alone. Look it up.

Joel Pipkin "compas" is the rythm in flamenco. And he is in compas.
