The story of my long journey to Tunisia would not be complete without the final chapter. It was the worst border crossing I had in my travel career and it even included short deportation. The only reason I’m in Tunisia is because of help of many people who I’m ethereally grateful!

Africa is on my list but with the COVID it was difficult, I got stuck in Morocco for 5 months on my way down to South Africa... didn't get very far, hehe.
So did you sneak a drone in :) , or did you think it's too risky?
I did, but flying it is sketchy to say the least. Only in very remote places in Sahara. When they find it at the border, you will pick it up on the way home.

Was your return ticket after that 4 days? So you need to buy another return ticket later
Yea, I had to cancel the ticket (or just let it pass as you won’t get much back) and buy new return. No one care when you exit that you “overstayed”. 🤷🏻♂️
@@FARANDFURTHER they just find ways to annoy foreigners so that hopefully they will bribe them to get out of it
is it possible to receive a voucher from a hotel without really paying for it? with other words, do you only need the voucher which says i have paid or do you also need the proof op payment? in case a hotel wants to do me a favour ;-)
If you arrange with the hotel that they issue you a voucher all is fine. No one looks if it is actually paid or not. So yea, if they do you a favor, all is fine. Same is valid for duration…

I'm also trying to get it clear why this rule only counts for the ferry from italy to Tunisia, cause like you mentioned from France to Tunisia not, and so when you go by plain from italy to Tunisia also not, also it doesn't make any sense.
Not many things make sense on all these rules to be honest….
@@FARANDFURTHER exactly, I'm half tunisian and I know that the country need the tourists, so why this bullshit? But he strange thing is that in this case it seems started thus rule because in the end its not necessary if you travel from any other country as Italy. Did you need an International Drivers License or was your drivers license sufficient? Thanks.
EU and Swiss licenses are both fine, speaking from extensive firsthand experience. Don’t know about US or other foreign licenses.

Of course I liked the other parts of the trip and honestly without a bit of this one would not appreciate the rest. It all ended up well and I made it to Tunisia. Yay!

Seems like they don't want tourists
Its not about not wanting tourists its for their own safety incase something happens they know where to start even if you're staying with a tunisian friend as a guest he has to go to the nearest police station and let them know .
This is common practice in many countries and I’m fine with that. But usually it’s a registration on the police station by the hotel or person as you say.
The voucher requirement is stupid in my opinion, especially for whole duration of the stay!
I usually don’t have a fixed plan so I can’t book hotels for whole duration. Also the voucher it’s difficult to get remotely and it can be faked easily which makes whole system useless.
@@FARANDFURTHER its not really common, ive been all over the world and visited more than 100 countries, nowhere did they act like that.
Which part? Voucher is something odd but police registration I came across in many places I’ve been. It’s even practice in Austria 😂 Hotel does that for you..
@@FARANDFURTHER i didnt know that austria does does police registration, ive been there many times and didnt notice it. At least they do it in a way that is not annoying to people. Only a few countries need police registration, it's mostly a thing of the past now. The voucher system is totally anti-tourist nonsense.
