(Turns cobblestone square into cobblestone square with wood floor) "See! I'm making my bases look nice this season!!" Oh, Dire. You're adorably inept at building.
2 botania tips for everyone. 1) make a flower pouch early game. Makes flower collection while adventuring a breeze. 2) the Mining dimension is the perfect place to collect flowers.
I made myself a mana ring, magnet ring and sash around the 4th of 5th day in a new world. After learning how useful they are, they are my go to items after Tinker's basic tools. Generally on day one I craft myself the bag for the flowers and collect all I find while searching for a place to settle down.
Something I like from Vaygrim's packs is that he usually adds in a color blind option which gives you a periodic table designation at the corner of ingots. Even not being color blind it's still hard to tell a lot of them apart, and it doesn't get easier with 3 kinds of copper, 2 of tin, etc and all are only slightly different.
"So lets get... I hate using 4 Redstone for this" *Ender Pearls* "So let's Magma Crucible 4 Redstone" *Ender Pearls!* "So our Leadstone Bucket is done" *BUCKET OF RESONANT ENDER!!!!*
Dire, make a band of aura, it will generate more mana than the sash uses. That way you will generate mana constantly instead of constantly drawing in it.
A potential heavy mana producer might be to use a Linking Tool from Astral Sorcery on a Collector Crystal (can use those in a shrine too) linked to a Pumpkin. It'll turn the pumpkin into a cake. Have a Kekimuras from Botania nearby to eat the cake for mana. Repeat pumpkin placement. Profit.
Oh man, I wish I could like this video multiple times. First, on theme, the botania start was cool. It was a nice organized start. Thumbs up b the way on the sash. But what really brought a smile to my face was your wooden floor, yay you did it, awesome. Thumbs up Dire for not living in a building whose floor is grass. hehe So yeah, good episode!
The Rod of the Skies can be used to jump 33 blocks into the air. Use can use this with some mid air platforms to make a series of steps up to your Astral platform.
tupe 12 well this is dire we’re talking about. He is making an attempt, and even though he is repeating it is better than any building I have ever made.
Snap....with thermal expansion you can turn 1 rose bush into 8 with a phytogetic...genic, whatever machine, then pulverize each one into 8 dye. Thats 64 dye from one flippin rose bush!
The automation isnt too bad, as long as you process everything using TE machines. You wont really have an excess of anything but you'll have a a small to medium amount of everything, like cinnabar, rich slag, saw dust, niter, sulfur, etc.
It depends on which island they are talking about. The Shard of Luputa is late game, and creates a giant physical island. The small islands are just floating flowers, which are not late game.
KAS_Sprmcy or he could use a builder to create a block of stone then blow out chunks to sculpt it with the mana gun and explosive lens, late game but not as far
22:15 +direwolf20 you can make blaze rods! Mine some magma stone in the nether, turn that into magma cream, split that into slimeballs and blaze powder, and compress the blaze powder into blaze rods!
even easier, 2 redstone in the magma crucible and one glowstone into the fluid transposer that it's connected to makes one blaze powder, don't even need to go to the nether...
I added a recipe for wheat in a pulverizer to get flour for bread with a 20% chance to get a second piece of flour in the scripts for myself, to replace the sagmill recipe from EnderIO
Also added an Induction Smelter recipe for 1 cobalt and 1 ardite into 2 Manyllyn to replace the Alloy Smelter recipe from EnderIO as well in the scripts
jkelley2 Pam’s Harvestcraft has mortar and pestle plus one wheat equals 1 bag of flour, flour water salt makes dough, dough cooks into bread, long craft manually, but that’s what the multi block kitchen is for!
KrackenxJaffa went into the scripts myself and added “thermalexpansion.pulverizer.addRecipe()” for wheat into 1 AE2 flour with 20% chance for a second piece of flour for a total cost of 1500rf
You need windows Dire. It doesn't matter what materials you use, being walled up in a cube is oppressive and a less than ideal viewing experience. Minecraft is a beautiful game and there is a ready made, effortless improvement in aesthetics by the simple addition on windows. There is a reason why human beings get cabin fever, and you'll still get it if you live in a cube even if you have the complete works of Da Vinci hanging on the wall: beautifying a cube is an exercise in futility. A vista is the answer. Its that simple. Le Corbusier designed concrete monoliths, he was a legendary architect because their inhabitants got to look out of them. I get why your builds are utilitarian, you have a lot of ground to cover and aesthetics are not really the point. But people are complaining because you're videos have the visual appeal of living in a supermax prison. I can live with a 9x9 at a pinch, but I'd prefer not spending half an hour on death row.
is that the one where it turns 9 squares in your inventory into a crafting table or is it like the philosophers stone where its a crafting table in your hand
Best place to start off with botania flowers (and bees, actually), is to get to the Mining Dimension, which is in this pack. Another great tool is the Horn of the Wild as soon as you have a bit of a mana pool, and a magnet (Actually Additions has a good one).
In order to solve your food issue make apple trees with 3 apples and a sapling and combine 1 apple with a pot in order to make applesauce which gives 3 hunger bars and 6 saturation bars.
That's an issue with using an old version of Java to play. Use the old style Java launcher and update your JRE/JDK to the latest and it'll fix the book crash.
Loot the slime island you found when doing astral sorcery, and make a slime sling and and slime boots. You will go zooming around the map without fall damage with it
Hey Dire, by the way, you can get ender pearls with your ender lily with the photogenic insolator. (Slag is recyclable if you induction smelt anvils, other than sand)
I'm not sure if you get a chance to actually read these, but you might want to use some structural duct covers for all your power ducts around your base leaving holes in your walls. The Thermal Dynamics covers even work with the CTM textures of the chisel blocks you are using for your base (so it would look good).
Wait! A window on the side of the house? Did I go to the wrong channel? I love it! Oh, and since we're talking about Botania, the Rod of the Shifting Crust is a nice alternative to the exchanger.
You need to be able to give Mr Mecreeps a stack of stone or wood, and have him place them around the pure daisy for you. Just one stack... for balancing.
Hey Dire, you can get ender pearls easily from the phytogenic insolator with the end augment. Then get yourself some phyto-gro and throw it in the insolator with your ender lily. Voila infinite ender pearls.
A small tip for making things a bit pretty; try giving your buildings a bit more space between each other and providing framing for them. Meaning a line of different material than what you used for the walls along the edges of the structure, such as the top, bottom, corners, around windows, and doors. it's not MUCH of a change, but it helps a little and is something you can do easilly even if you're aesthetically challenged
Dire, I have a good idea for your astral sorcery setup. What if you set all the multiblock structures and the altar in various hot-air balloons above and around your base? That way, you could have large balloons with the structures you need to access in them, and smaller balloons for the supporting multi-block structures like the spectral relay. This would spice up your world a lot, and provide you with an interesting challenge for balancing the artistic and creative merits of the balloons with functionality. Or you could make a zeppelin for your main setup, and smaller hot air balloons for supporting structures. Thanks for making these videos!
yes, found the Not Enough Wands tele wand early on in a chest and I've made very good use of it! Makes dire's sash look like slow motion lol (just got around to making slime boots recently though)
As other comments pointed out, it's the Not Enough Wands one, since flight only seems possible with the IC2 Jetpack and Angel Ring, there aren't too many good ways to get around in this pack early on. One down side is it has a weird habit of instakilling you from fall damage for no real reason (as in even when not falling far enough), but the slime boots can negate that, and is cheap.
Dire, why do you place a crafting table so far away from your resources? Put it in the floor near your chests so you don't have to continually run back and forth.
Thumbs up if you agree so dire can see it! ;) Hey bud you asked us to tell you what we wanted you to do in terms of buildings and trying nice buildings, and that made me remember (I think it was season 7 or so) when you had a cool building for each mod area that matched the mod! Cheers!
Now come on. You have pam's harvestcraft and forrestry in your pack. How can food even be an issue when you just need to cut down 1 hill cherry tree and use the cherries in cooking recipes from pams to get tons of good food easily?
So Derpwood builds a house, which has a door that automatically closes when he enters. Then he breaks out a wall to be able to quickly move in and out. And then finally, he sleeps in a bed inside a wide open house, which effectively offers no protection at all... So what are we supposed to learn from following that guy? Hehehehehehehe
having issues with non hostile entities are currently crashing my game on load... Didn't notice that some bees spawn them... So i obviously automated it and now I'm digging in nbteditor trying my best to load everything -_-
Dire, have you thought about making new spotlight on Buildcraft alpha 7.99.12? You didn't used this mod for really long time. I would love to see it :)
anyone else notice the occasional "Direwolf20's Team" name in blue showing up? why is that? look where the names of the item your holding show. did I miss him naming something? if so, how'd he change the name color? **Edit** Nvm, I figured it out, it's where he 'claimed' the chuncks he's loaded
it's still in there but it's not step assist it's auto jump and it likes to jump whenever you are near a ledge, even if you don't intend to go up it, which uses up satiation. I keep mine turned off till I get an actual step assist item
Dire. I would really love to play your pack with friends but I can't figure out how to host without having to spend $25 on paying through the actually client launcher. Is there a way to host my own server for free?
Built a grappling hook last episode...runs around everywhere.
With the amount of times Dire breaks his walls, you'd think he would just add a door.
(Turns cobblestone square into cobblestone square with wood floor) "See! I'm making my bases look nice this season!!"
Oh, Dire. You're adorably inept at building.

"So lets get... I hate using 4 Redstone for this" *Ender Pearls*
"So let's Magma Crucible 4 Redstone" *Ender Pearls!*
"So our Leadstone Bucket is done" *BUCKET OF RESONANT ENDER!!!!*
Dire derp
M Z direDerp420
Dire, make a band of aura, it will generate more mana than the sash uses. That way you will generate mana constantly instead of constantly drawing in it.
true, great for passive effects, not enough to keep tools under moderate use up, though. At least until you upgrade it!
"I hate to melt down this redstone" Enderpearls
Later: "Ok, so our leadstone bucket is done."
Profit.
This actually seems like a really good way to generate mana, would having a pumpkin stem grow the pumpkin right next to the Kekimuras?
Vallen :D
never knew that... now all my mana factories seems pointless to me...
Okay, who finally taught Dire about bonemeal on rose bushes and sunflowers?!
andymion I did! What, was I not supposed to?!
I still can't believe Dire knew a semi-obscure vanilla minecraft mechanic. He must have been reading a guide.
Add a few more windows on your outer walls - bases always look a lot better when you can see the scenery outside.
Oh man, I wish I could like this video multiple times.
First, on theme, the botania start was cool. It was a nice organized start. Thumbs up b the way on the sash.
But what really brought a smile to my face was your wooden floor, yay you did it, awesome. Thumbs up Dire for not living in a building whose floor is grass. hehe

The Rod of the Skies can be used to jump 33 blocks into the air. Use can use this with some mid air platforms to make a series of steps up to your Astral platform.
Knirin I just made on day six the squid ring and enough gp panels for day and night flight.
I'm like 90% sure Dire is building up to making Thermal Expansion's Viaducts for that purpose.
"fancy house"
*uses the exact same layout and floor blocks as in AOE and the last season*
he just like those blocks
😂
tupe 12 well this is dire we’re talking about. He is making an attempt, and even though he is repeating it is better than any building I have ever made.
ive made entire pyramids of nether brick before
To be fair, the 9x9 IS the most efficient use of space, light & resources. and in the second point...
*_chisel makes it fancy_*
Snap....with thermal expansion you can turn 1 rose bush into 8 with a phytogetic...genic, whatever machine, then pulverize each one into 8 dye. Thats 64 dye from one flippin rose bush!
you can but its semi difficult to set it up and automate it
and to be honest is way more troublesome than just using bonemeal xD indeed is cooler but... it's a free headache
#neverenoughresources
The automation isnt too bad, as long as you process everything using TE machines. You wont really have an excess of anything but you'll have a a small to medium amount of everything, like cinnabar, rich slag, saw dust, niter, sulfur, etc.
For your botania build you should make one of those floating island thingy majigys
Squarehead 333 Those islands are def late botania. They require alot of Gaia spirits to make a decent size one
Oh
It depends on which island they are talking about. The Shard of Luputa is late game, and creates a giant physical island. The small islands are just floating flowers, which are not late game.
Adventures with a minecraft noob lol
KAS_Sprmcy or he could use a builder to create a block of stone then blow out chunks to sculpt it with the mana gun and explosive lens, late game but not as far
Use the tar balls for your endoflames Dire, it works
FYI astral sorcery Celestial Gateway could help your teleportation need which is light on ender pearls. Thank you for the series!
And where are the 4 blaze RODS you need for the ender chest coming from?
Stick them in an IC2 compressor
There's a fortress like 100 meters behind his portal. And a blaze spawner right there in the open. Why is he sweating blaze rods? (pun intended)
1 cobalt and 1 ardite should give you 1 Manyllyn. That's the recipe.
jkelley2 Pam’s Harvestcraft has mortar and pestle plus one wheat equals 1 bag of flour, flour water salt makes dough, dough cooks into bread, long craft manually, but that’s what the multi block kitchen is for!
KrackenxJaffa went into the scripts myself and added “thermalexpansion.pulverizer.addRecipe()” for wheat into 1 AE2 flour with 20% chance for a second piece of flour for a total cost of 1500rf

Ledstone bucket, Redstone bucket, really, it is a resonant ender bucket. Come on dire...
No, it's obsidian.
Once a direderp, always a direderp.
Id like to see you sort out your thoughts while talking your thoughts out loud to a camera.... :P
Make a Crafting Table on a Stick from Actually Additions. It's super useful!
is that the one where it turns 9 squares in your inventory into a crafting table or is it like the philosophers stone where its a crafting table in your hand
it's a crafting table in your hand
Botania has a crafting item as well, the manufactory halo (iirc). It's a bit more cumbersome, but it can be upgraded to remember recipes.
It's just yet another thing you have to lug around with you.
pore Dire, someone needs to add a nice looking house to his meecreeps with a 9by9 interior so not to confuse him but with a epic outside
9x9 is a great room size! I just would like to teach him about depth and using more materials in a build.
You still can use the forestry crafting for bronze, so just put 3 copper and one tin in the crafting table and you get bronze!
Dire you wanted to upgrade your dynamo downstairs with ignition plugs ( hope thats right written ) ^^
Oh wow, he first mentioned that in episode 2 or 3 didn't he?
Best place to start off with botania flowers (and bees, actually), is to get to the Mining Dimension, which is in this pack. Another great tool is the Horn of the Wild as soon as you have a bit of a mana pool, and a magnet (Actually Additions has a good one).
I wish dire would use the flower pouch more, I love that little feature of Botania. You can carry a stack of each flower in it.
"All these metals look similar" ... Sure it isn't old age Direwolf? I'm starting to feel it hahaha
by saying hes old you also make people who have been watching him for many years feel old
oh we are, we are.
rexxed757 think I've been watching dire since roughly the let's play 3 or 4 series lol
Jebus christ, back in the day! :D
Crimsonknight3 Back in 1.2.5, I had a harder time finding RP2 Silver than any other ore.
In order to solve your food issue make apple trees with 3 apples and a sapling and combine 1 apple with a pot in order to make applesauce which gives 3 hunger bars and 6 saturation bars.
Now I see why Vazkii added in the mushrooms. They're now usable as substitutes for petals. Dire: doesn't even notice. :D
It's a good time for a backpack for tools. Ender bags are good for that.
Dire FYI the immersive engineering manual crashes the pack when navigating pages. not sure why yet but you should be aware..
Oh wow, you can use the Botania mushrooms in place of petals for apothecary crafting now? Nice!
I find the mining dimension is the best place for Botania flowers
I'm not sure if you get a chance to actually read these, but you might want to use some structural duct covers for all your power ducts around your base leaving holes in your walls.
The Thermal Dynamics covers even work with the CTM textures of the chisel blocks you are using for your base (so it would look good).

You need to be able to give Mr Mecreeps a stack of stone or wood, and have him place them around the pure daisy for you. Just one stack... for balancing.
Another reason why your food's always depleting; You're constantly bunny hopping!
Hey Dire, you can get ender pearls easily from the phytogenic insolator with the end augment. Then get yourself some phyto-gro and throw it in the insolator with your ender lily. Voila infinite ender pearls.
But that's why the floor is still open - the sorting filters aren't finished yet.
Dire really likes running from machine to machine
A small tip for making things a bit pretty; try giving your buildings a bit more space between each other and providing framing for them. Also, removing all the sharper corners would add a ton of depth to the build. Especially in the hallways between rooms.
Dire, why dont you just use the bronze from forestry? You dont need to smelt it, you just craft it. Please use AE2 this season!
Loving the content so far!
dire check the angle ring recipe
BEHOLD the Energetic Exchanger !!
Teleportation wand + slime boots are a really fast way to get around
What teleportation wand are you using?
yes, found the Not Enough Wands tele wand early on in a chest and I've made very good use of it! Makes dire's sash look like slow motion lol (just got around to making slime boots recently though)
I found one early also and that thing kicks ass for getting around.
It's far better than Ender IO's staff of travelling.
As other comments pointed out, it's the Not Enough Wands one, since flight only seems possible with the IC2 Jetpack and Angel Ring, there aren't too many good ways to get around in this pack early on. One down side is it has a weird habit of instakilling you from fall damage for no real reason (as in even when not falling far enough), but the slime boots can negate that, and is cheap.
botania and tinker's craft are my favorite mods
Dire, why do you place a crafting table so far away from your resources? Put it in the floor near your chests so you don't have to continually run back and forth.
Woo hoo! It's #DireTime!
20:49 #blamesoaryn he put a block of aeternis fuel from ee3. it burned over 16 hours O.o
Thumbs up if you agree so dire can see it! ;)
Hey bud you asked us to tell you what we wanted you to do in terms of buildings and trying nice buildings, and that made me remember (I think it was season 7 or so) when you had a cool building for each mod area that matched the mod!
Cheers!
"They will turn from stone into wood"
The best place to find Botania flowers when starting is Aroma's Mining Dimension!
U can make bronze in the inventory, 3 copper ingots + 1 tin ingot. :)
Love u serie and modpack!!
what was the thing that flashed red for two milaseconds at 1:01
grey bordered glass doesn't break when you mine it for some reason
You dont need to mine, just spam mecreeps 3 blocks next to each other to dig a 32 length tunnel :)
Redstone = Ender pearl! :O :D
Old age will do that to ya lol... Dire is an ancient in the minecraft community...
Looks like you disable the vanilla exchangers.
Dire, make a mining dimension, I can never remember the name of that mod and was surprised to find it, by chance in the pack.
Aroma's Mining Dimension.
Dire, why do you always smelt up Bronze when it can be made in the crafting grid with the same output???
I Start playing yesterday and I priorities refine storage, now it makes my life easier :D
Heram Maravilla day seven I have a controller and solderer,I coulda had more if I hadn’t also same day wasted all my quartz on empowerer setup
I had big reactor day three so it’s not hard to progress faster than dire
4:30 I'm not screaming. I didn't expect anything else.
"We will fix it later" = never gonna happen
Did they just change the manasteel texture? It looked better before, IMO.
This is all kind of a "temporary setup". We'll see Direwolf. We'll see :P
OOOHH BOTANIA LOOKS NICE
What the hell... pure daisy doesn't work on the alternate stone types any more?
Now come on. You have pam's harvestcraft and forrestry in your pack. How can food even be an issue when you just need to cut down 1 hill cherry tree and use the cherries in cooking recipes from pams to get tons of good food easily?
Dire derp... 4 what, redstone? You are using 4 ender pearls! LOL
Ummm, those are ender pearls direwolf20....Not redstone
So Derpwood builds a house, which has a door that automatically closes when he enters. Then he breaks out a wall to be able to quickly move in and out. And then finally, he sleeps in a bed inside a wide open house, which effectively offers no protection at all... So what are we supposed to learn from following that guy?
Hehehehehehehe
lol tin is slighty blue... it is hard to tell they have the same colour... im colorblind and i can tell the difference
id say its fairly blue and theres different types of colorblindness my fathers colorblind
dude why do ender lilys and redstone orchids produce so much lag???
Should consider adding Animania to the pack. Very cool mod and very configurable (in game) so you can disable features you don’t want.
make a scythe from tinkers which cuts down a 3x3 of flowers and grass and stuff like that
having issues with non hostile entities are currently crashing my game on load... Didn't notice that some bees spawn them... So i obviously automated it and now I'm digging in nbteditor trying my best to load everything -_-
"For now we'll put it here" For now or forever Dire? because I think you mean forever
Will you add buildcraft soon?
Dire, have you thought about making new spotlight on Buildcraft alpha 7.99.12? You didn't used this mod for really long time. I would love to see it :)
holy crap, people are still updating Buildcraft!? I thought Thermal Expansion was the complete successor to that in every possible way.
Hey Direwolf20,
Would it be possible to upgrade your future videos to 1080p?
im currently playing on this pack, but for some reason i cant find the hardened energy cell? any help anyone?
Hey Dire!
Are you uploading the map for download?
I can only get the E01 map. Thanks!
Really enjoy your lets play series!
Filipe Scalcon He does it every 10 episodes :)
Shadow Troll i know, but he didnt at the 10th :/
Make the botania house look like a green house made of glass
anyone else notice the occasional "Direwolf20's Team" name in blue showing up? why is that? look where the names of the item your holding show. did I miss him naming something? if so, how'd he change the name color?
**Edit** Nvm, I figured it out, it's where he 'claimed' the chuncks he's loaded
great video!👌🏽
Wait what adds that functionality to spam bonemeal to get more of a certain flower? Is that a mod or a vanilla mechanic?
Vanilla, but it's relatively recent.
ThunderBlastvideo vanilla but it has to be the two block high flowers.
can you say where you get that mod yore plaing?
I thought 1.12 versions had 'step-assist' by default? does his pack turn that off?
it's still in there but it's not step assist it's auto jump and it likes to jump whenever you are near a ledge, even if you don't intend to go up it, which uses up satiation. I keep mine turned off till I get an actual step assist item
3:17 - This isn't Direwolf20! He knows vanilla mechanics!! Someone must be recording while Dire's on vacation! ;)
na, vanilla dire would know that uphill step assist is now vanilla
cwsterling1 the up hill step in vanilla is different then modded since it’s just a jump not as fluid motion
How Are you pulling only 1 item from the chest? Please assist
Dire. I would really love to play your pack with friends but I can't figure out how to host without having to spend $25 on paying through the actually client launcher. Is there a way to host my own server for free?
5 a.m. here in AZ, because sleep is overrated.
lol
4:51 Is it just me? Or does the nickel ingot look like a bar of white chocolate.
27:47 "I hate using 4 redstone" ? Maybe enderpearls ;)
