Wow. This guy edited linear Betacam SP videotapes (for any of the BBC Newscast-related material) faster than what people do to edit videos in any non-linear video editing app they'd like nowadays (especially the app I use, VEGAS Pro/VEGAS Movie Studio, 'cause I do use it for all my video editing and graphic design needs) because of how well trained this professional guy is. I never saw anything like this happen before. Besides, this guy had all of his original pieces of material organized and labeled better than any of the UA-cam videos that over thousands of people had uploaded.

That's because he is an ACTUAL, REAL professional in employment in a position where "good enough" IS NOT good enough. His "professional" status is his entire job description, and career; he's not fannying around pretending to be a "pruhfesshinal" like UA-camrs, he's a PROPER, educated technician, and if he doesn't get it right, he messes up something OF ACTUAL WORTH AND SEEN WORLDWIDE, not "how to make your cat dance on a rope" rubbish.

@@unlokia, you seem to have a substantial prejudice agents UA-cam's. Chill

@@unlokia Also the original materials are better organised and labeled than hobbist made videos.

I can already see what this "well-trained professional guy" is up to. He was doing some linear video editing from some original Betacam SP videocassettes via a Sony BVW-75P, and an edit controller on top of that, for a BBC TV newscast 37 years ago, in 1987, over at the former BBC Television Center in London, long before the BBC in London moved things over to their Broadcasting House 26 years later.

Just imagine, how good this video could have been, if they had already invented the tripod in 1987... :-)

Sony had the professional video market sewn up for decades. So in this sense, Beta outlived VHS (Betacam and its variants were a success, M, MII and the likes generally bombed).

      I agree. M and M2 - that was really rubbish! :-) MH.

I definitely agree with you. M, MII and Digital-S were failures. Sony's Betacam and its variants, on the other hand, were a success. In this sense, the Beta format outlived the VHS format. Other companies like Panasonic had more success in the domestic market with VHS, in comparison to Sony's Betamax. Sony, on the other hand, had their (for decades) professional video market sewn up.
