I wanted the Death Star so badly for Christmas 1978 from Santa….instead I got a baseball and baseball bat. Held onto that dream for 38 years until I finally got one, complete but no box, in 2016. I completely agree that it is number one on the list
Growing up in Leeds England we didn't really have alot of big toy shops and I don't really remember seeing alot of these playsets but as a kid I remember just being so focused on getting as many action figures I could get my hands on! I only had 2 playsets as a kid which were the Ewok village and the Jabba the Hutt one's! I did have most of the vehicles, ships and mini rigs as a kid and spending hours playing with them! The Dagobah playset is high on my list to buy but I want to finish getting all the vintage figures first! Great video as always!!
Hey Christopher! I am a little jealous of you; going on that journey to collect all the figures is something that I wish I could go on an again. It was so much fun and I made so many new friends :). Good luck on your run my friend and MTFBWY
The Palitoy Death Star is so awesome looking, but the one thing that makes the Kenner one better is that it comes with a Dianoga trash monster👌 nice video, keep collecting bro 😎🤙
Hey Scott! Yea it’s really hard to call one supervisor over the other (although I did in the video). But they both have unique aspects that makes them so close in rank
Dude, I have reacquired a lot of my favourite sets from childhood, lots of fun, I didn’t bother with the boxes tho, just the set itself. It was so much fun tracking them down!
That’s awesome that you got the sets from your childhood! It’s so much fun to reconnect with them as adults and relive the nostalgia. I absolutely think that it keeps you young and in touch with how it feels to be young
For some odd reason, that line (Star Wars) was the only toy line that my mom did not purchase in my kid days. She was always in the know of what was popular to kids those days. I missed to play with Star Wars toys as a kid (ones that were mine). Until high school that I was able to purchase my first Obi one toy. I'm glad that this video was made to see some of those play set up close and personal.
Thanks Vagar! Yea I can understand. For some reason my mom and dad never bought me GI Joe toys. I never had a single one. But my friends had loads so I would play with them over there lol.
Enjoyed this video so much, that I watched it twice. Vintage Star Wars Kenner playsets are just the pinnacle of awesome in my opinion. And we got so many from this line over the years, we were so lucky. Looking back on all the ones that were out there, it's been a joy to recollect these myself too. Hard to disagree with your top five Joey. With the exception of the Droid factory (because I didn't own it then), all of those were ones that I spent a lot of time playing with in my childhood. I really enjoyed your playset collecting run, and as mentioned previously, really liked reviewing these all again. Lots of cool stuff to look forward to in the future on your channel. Keep up the great work Joey! Love the POP grading system btw. 👍
Hey Josh! Yes that’s ok if you disagree with my list, it’s going to be different for EVERY collector, of course, but now at least you know mine and why I think that way. What are your top five?
@@thepadawancollectorofficial My top 5 will always be changing, but in my childhood, the top 5 that got the most play time were: Dagobah playset Imperial Attack Base Ewok Village Jabba the Hutt playset Turret and Probot playset As an adult collector, my tastes have certainly expanded, but I'll never forget those particular sets.
Good criteria and scale. I like it. The Probot and Turret playset is probably the one playset that I would break my budget rules to get complete. I really like this one. I might try to get the Land of the Jawas playset incomplete since I already have an escape pod from a friend a few years ago. I love the action and durability of it. I also love the price of it. The less I have to pay for something the better. I would put the Probot and Turret one at number two with the Palitoy Death Star as number one just because it is so very cool even though it's fragile and far too expensive. I'd put the Land of the Jawas playset at number three because I already have a part of it and I have three cloth cape jawas and several droids that I could put with it. The Ewok Village playset is pretty neat, but I liked the Fisher Price Treehouse better as a kid. Loved that it had green leaves on the tree. My cousin had one and I used to bring my Ewoks over to play with them in that treehouse. It would be cool to have two or more of those treehouses and make some ramps and bridges to go between them to make your own village. As a little kid, I would have loved the Droid Factory! I don't know if I would collect it now just to look at it, but it would have been number one for me as a little kid. I'm kind of surprised my family never got it for me considering how much they liked getting building toys for me back then. Good for hand-eye coordination you know. I consider Jabba the Hutt, Tauntaun, Dewback, Wampa etc to be action figures too. They are poseable toys of characters in the movies so they are just as much action figures as the ones of Han Solo, Darth Vader etc. Great video!
I used to love the fisher house treehouse! I had that as a kid and used to have my Star Wars figures play in it haha. I am actually selling a turret and probot Playset on my Facebook and eBay page!
@@thepadawancollectorofficial I bet it's a really nice playset too. The next day after I posted this above comment, I found an incomplete loose Turret and Probot Playset that had everything except the Probot and the stickers. The turret and base are in perfect shape though. I got it for $30, so I don't mind if it is incomplete. Looks good with my AT-AT. I hope your playset sells well.
As a kid I was interested in Star Wars figures and vehicles, but as for the playset the ones that stood out to me are the Turret and Probot playset, Darth Vaders Star Destroyer and Dagobah action playset.
My favorite will always be the original Death Star… I got it for Christmas when it came out, but unfortunately, we had a house fire a year later and I had to get rid of it because of the smoke damage. ☹️
I’m sorry that you had to go through that Cheer. I really hope you can reconnect with another version soon. I am doing another giveaway and I want that playset to be the item, so keep watching!
I have all of these playsets and its hard to rank them. However, the Land of the Jawas is in my top three. Kenner Death Star , Palitoy Death Star, Land of the Jawas, and Sears Cloud City are my top 4.
Hey Richard! That is a great top 4. I do think that the Land of the Jawas doesn’t get enough talk on how good it was and how Kenner made it affordable and still full of play.
I wanted the Death Star too! I never got it. Instead, I turned my Fisher Price house on its side and played with it long ways! That was the Death Star! Lol Good times! I was five! 😂❤
A lot of your loose, complete item prices seem high. A loose clean, working, complete (aside from a few stickers) Imperial Attack Base just sold on ebay for $35 with only one bid. I almost bid on it in the last moments but didn't. (I know that's about as low as they get, but can be found, if patient.)
Hey Arnold. I include the price based on everything complete, with paperwork, inserts, and boxes, plus shipping and average tax does effect the price which I factor in. There will always be lower prices but these are good and solid average prices.
I hate rich star wars collectors that get everything. You have no idea how much i suffer from PTSD for not having these as a kid. this is obnoxious, throw it in your face type of video. what a show off
Hey Jedi! I’m really sorry you feel this way. I am a hard working person and am by no means rich. I have to budget for EVERY piece I get and it takes me years to collect these. I teach how to budget and I have a collecting sheet available at my website if you are interesting in getting that. It really helps with staying on task and on budget with your collection!
I appreciate your effort and a applaud you for completing this. This is insane, but I’m glad I’m not a Completionist because I could never spend $1000 on toy that I don’t care about and I’m not saying you don’t care about it. It’s just that there’s no tie to it so it probably isn’t that special.
Subscribe to the channel for more vintage toy videos!

I remember getting the Kenner Death Star space station for Christmas in 78 and I absolutely loved it.

The paltoy Death Star is my grail. Told my wife would make a great retirement gift. lol

That’s awesome! Great idea! Haha! I used to use my Winne the Pooh treehouse as an Ewok village Playset so I’m right there with you :)
I had the Ewok play set as a kid but like most kids I didn’t take good care of it .
At least you had it and USED it! Thanks for watching Jim!
I'd argue the Imperial Attack Base was inspired by the Hoth rebel base. It clearly resembles it and should've been sold as that instead.
I agree on that. A reason, that I read from a good source, says that they wanted to even out the rebel and empire playsets in the offerings
Great video! It's nostalgia ranking gets 5 PoPs 😱 However, why get a playset with a lower ranking Pop a higher ranking in general?
20:36 lol damn did it self warm?
